I'd like to turn to a type of song that people like myself find ourselves subjected to with increasing frequency as time goes on, and that is the college alma mater. You'll find yourself at a reunion of grads, and old undergrads, and eh... somebody will start croaking out one of these things and everyone will gradually join in -- each in his own key, of course -- until the place is just soggy with nostalgia. Well, a typical such song might be called Bright College Days, and might go like this. Bright college days, O carefree days that fly, To thee we sing with our glasses raised on high. Let's drink a toast as each of us recalls Ivy-covered professors in ivy-covered halls. Turn on the spigot, pour the beer and swig it, and gaudeamus igit-ur. Here's to parties we tossed, To the games that we lost, We shall claim that we won them some day. To the girls young and sweet, To the spacious back seat of our beat up Chevrolet.

Good Time [14 Sep 2012|08:11am]
[ mood | hopeful ]
[ music | Owl City - Good Time ]

As classes are starting up again on Monday I thought it would be a good time to start up Parkour again. If anyone is interested I'll be at the track out back of the Sports Complex around 1pm, testing my skills and having a ball. The club is open to everyone, so I hope to see some new risk takers out there later.

Otherwise it's Friday. Friday, gotta get down on... Who wants to go out tonight?

...oh, and if anyone can explain how I woke up with The Humpty Dance stuck in my head I'd appreciate it.

Roommates [14 Sep 2012|11:12am]
I had one male visitor last night and I'm going to have a different one tonight.

As usual, I don't need you to make yourself scarce, that's just rude and inconsiderate, but please for the love of everything, don't be idiots fools and say something about last night's guest....

Classes are starting Monday, and it seems I've got a busy semester ahead of me. It'll be my first as a graduate student, so I expect it to be hectic though nothing I can't handle. I'm looking forward to seeing just what my instructors have in store for me, I must admit.

I may need to cut back on my extracurricular activities, but we shall see how it goes for the time being.

We should go clubbing or something this weekend, get good and fucked up before I need to apply myself to classes again.

[ mood | giddy ]

It's a little odd for me to feel excited considering how things were less than a week ago, but with classes starting and the weather changing I can't help but have a little bounce in my step. I enjoy sweater-weather, and when the leaves change colors. Plus, when I think about all the great things I'll be learning this semester it makes me a little giddy.

I decided to test out a new pizza recipe, something a little different and more gourmet, but I think it came out well. It was bacon, blue cheese, and arugula with balsamic vinaigrette drizzled over it, and I don't feel I'm exaggerating when I say it's delicious. I have some to share, and Cai Aimon, I don't know if you'd like some but I already have a few slices set aside for you. Paris, I'll bring yours by in a bit.

Does anyone want to come apple picking with me this weekend? It's one of my favorite past times, and I'd love to share it.

[ARCHANGELS (MINUS SAMAEL)]
I have a rather... awkward situation that I need assistance with. I've tried praying, but it doesn't seem to help.

People, meet my new favorite boy, Otis. Isn't he cute?

[ mood | amused ]

Regular drill sessions for you military students start at 0400 on the 17th. If you've been attending the summer sessions, good. If you haven't, I'm not going to treat you any differently. No crying. No whining. If you aren't sure you want to be in the program, you had plenty of time to figure that out beforehand.

You'll also notice that I'm making this quite public. So I can be 'held to my word', so to speak. 0400. If anyone would like to show up earlier than that, for whatever reason, I assure you that's permissible. Lateness is not tolerated. Missing a session is also not tolerated, unless you're bedridden, or someone very close to you has died not that that should even-.

Additionally, if any graduate students are interested, I do have some assistant positions available, though most of them do quit don't last long. I can hardly imagine why. Think of it as a revolving door sort of opportunity.
