Montenegro University -- Day [entries|friends|calendar]

college town grad law med military
I'd like to turn to a type of song that people like myself find ourselves subjected to with increasing frequency as time goes on, and that is the college alma mater. You'll find yourself at a reunion of grads, and old undergrads, and eh... somebody will start croaking out one of these things and everyone will gradually join in -- each in his own key, of course -- until the place is just soggy with nostalgia. Well, a typical such song might be called Bright College Days, and might go like this. Bright college days, O carefree days that fly, To thee we sing with our glasses raised on high. Let's drink a toast as each of us recalls Ivy-covered professors in ivy-covered halls. Turn on the spigot, pour the beer and swig it, and gaudeamus igit-ur. Here's to parties we tossed, To the games that we lost, We shall claim that we won them some day. To the girls young and sweet, To the spacious back seat of our beat up Chevrolet.

LOCKED POST. [24 Apr 2012|12:24am]
[TO ALL THE MUSES]

Ladies, it is time for us to hit the town! We are all taking a break from our lives, regardless of study or classes or work, and we are going out tonight. Put on your dancing shoes, we are starting at my place and heading to Olympus where we will party the night away!

I am not taking no for an answer, by the way.

[AIDAN]

Feel free to tell me to keep my nose out of it, but are you doing okay?

[24 Apr 2012|12:46am]
I'm not much of a singer, but I seem to be struck with it too. I'm sure my neighbors have gotten an earful, and for that I apologize. I'm pretty sure I sound like a cat dying when I sing. Most of the time, I was singing that Animaniacs song about the 50 states. That and then I was singing to my plants, some made up song that I just made up on the spot.

Needless to say, I haven't been home in a while. And I think I've lost my voice, so there's going to be a lot of power points in class for the next couple of days.

At least I've stopped baking.

[ music | My Fair Lady - On The Street Where You Live ]

[A little known fact about Fergus was that he sometimes liked to sing. Usually, he kept his vocal exercises to the shower, but today as he made his way through the halls to Melody's room he found himself wanting to serenade her. Of course, this worked out to him standing in the hallway singing outside her room for anyone to see.]

"I have often walked,
Down this street before,
But the pavement's always stayed,
Beneath my feet before.
All at once am I,
Several stories high,
Knowing I'm on the street where you live.

Are there lilac trees in the heart of town?
Can you hear a lark in any other part of town?
Does enchantment pour, out of every door?
No, it's just on the street where you live.

And oh, the towering feeling,
Just to know, somehow you are near...
The overpowering feeling,
That any second you may suddenly appear!

People stop and stare, they don't bother me,
For there's nowhere else on earth that I would rather be.
Let the time go by, I won't care if I...
Can be here, on the street, where you live..."

[24 Apr 2012|01:30pm]
Are you all quite finished?

[Filter: Michael]
You fucking
I can't believe
Are you aware
Did you purposely
How much did you pay

He was singing

FUCKINGMOTHERFUCKINGFUCKER

[Filter: Hellish Brethren]
Who is looking to do something destructive?

It appears there are fools here who have forgotten their place and my our importance. Perhaps I we have become too soft.

voice post [24 Apr 2012|03:17pm]
[The drama was still somewhere in the background, but he was getting better at finding the light at the end of the tunnel. He knew what he he was going to do, but first he was going to partake in a little of the fun that was happening around campus even if a lot of what was being sung was complete and utter crap. So, after class, he grabbed himself a girl (not a random stranger but a friend with an A+ singing voice), and they started singing:

Forget your troubles
Happy days
C'mon get happy
Are here again
You better chase all your cares away
The skies above are clear again
Shout hallelujah
So let's sing a song
C'mon get happy
Of cheer again
Get ready for the judgement day
Happy days are here again.

After their big ending, the two of them start laughing until it's abruptly cut off.

Malphas's voice sounds calm at first, almost melodic, and eerie in it's seriousness

There are no typical murderers. Some plan their crimes meticulously, while others kill on impulse.

And then suddenly it goes into typical grindcore/deathcore fashion, though the words are hearable.

UGG
I LIKE TO CHEW ON GUM
I LIKE TO COLOUR PAINT
I'D LIKE TO FEEL YOUR ARM
I LIKE SHREDDED
WHEEEEEATE!!!!

OIWESERR
OIWESERR
SHUT UP
BRIE BRIE
EEEEE
UUURRRRRGH

I DON'T LIKE RICE
GOLUBRUBRUGH
DON'T TOUCH MY RICE
MY RICE

WHEAT WHEAT WHEAT
SHREDDED WHEAT
SHREDDED WHEAT
SHREDDED AND SHREDDED AND SHREDDED AND WHEAT
SHREDDED WHEAT
SHREDDED AND

013 [video post] [24 Apr 2012|07:03pm]
[In his near four semester at Montenegro, Jon has made plenty of video posts. It really wasn't uncommon to see his head of curly hair on video posts and they were usually of a comedic or musical nature. This time the camera came into focus of him sitting in his desk chair with his guitar, though his body was sideways so his profile could be seen. Without saying a thing, he started the song with slightly modified lyrics despite not being in an area where random bursts of song were present. His voice is on key, though not as strong as a vocal majors. ]

Hello, I've waited here for you... )

[Once the song is over, he just shuts the laptop closed.]

video post [24 Apr 2012|08:27pm]
[The video starts dark with low pitched snickers and constant shushing. When the hand pulls away from the lens, it focuses on a small woman with dark brown hair sitting against a tree with her knees held up to her chest, an iPod in her hand. Her head is turned away, but a voice somewhere between less raspy Janis Joplin and a less confident Grace Slick is coming from her direction. It comes in and out of tune, her voice not meant for singing. She has already started the beginning stanza and is working on the chorus of Hurt. It might seem as if she is just singing to the music on her device, but she stops every few lines, nods, then continues on. It's like she's talking to someone, but no one else is on that side of the lens.

What have I become
My sweetest friend
Everyone I know goes away
In the end
And you could have it all
My empire of dirt
I will let you down
I will make you hurt

When the woman stops singing, someone from behind the lens catches her attention. Her head flips around to show wide eyes. In a split second, something hits the camera and it falls to the ground, blacking out. A few swears slip out and then everything goes silent.

A few hours later, the video finds itself on the internet, much to the annoyance of Bethany.

I'm not singing as my home is not in that area. However, I am going to Comic-Con this July. Be jealous. Note to self: GET VALIUM RX FOR THE FLIGHT.

(Still tinkering with last minute details for my summer classes. Stay tuned.)

[Legion is doing better, or at least seems to be. The Many have gotten used to the notion of singing to communicate, and they've been picking less and less dramatic and overwhelming song choices to have Max belting out at all hours, and if one were to speculate, they could say that seeing Hel has played a large part in his 'calming down'. At the present, his webcam seems to be on, but it's not pointed at anything in particular. That is, until it focuses a a little and Max can be seen sitting on the floor, settled against his dresser and thudding the back of his head dully against it, seemingly out of boredom. It isn't evident he's singing until his voice his voice, not the Many, not the rushed, need-to-relieve the pressure frantic voice he's been bandying across the community in various chopped together ballads. He's not looking at the camera at all. His gaze is distant, and Max's voice has a distinctly punk-sounding quality to it. It's not bad, but it's a little less musical-sounding than others.]

stay where you are
don't take your bus
asphalt is melting and cars are dancing
i'd like to ask you but my legs are shaking
now you know..

i want to listen
how you're talking to yourself
i can imagine
that you're whispering my name
your words are warm so you promise and swear
i'll be your caffeine girl forever
cause you know

you've got the most beautiful face in the world
i know
i'll eat your eyes and tongue to love you more [he mumbles a little through these next parts, not quite liking the lyrical content in relation to what he's thinking about]
c'mon
you've got the most beautiful face in the world
i'm sure
i'll cut your ears and lips to make you all
mine

[He looks up, realizes the webcam light is on, realizes what he's said, where it's been posted, and pulls his arms up to hide his face before throwing a well-aimed Converse sneaker at the camera, knocking it off of his laptop, and onto the floor, where it films him just sitting there, covering his head for a moment before shorting out.]

Old Time Rock and Roll [video/filtered away from faculty and staff] [24 Apr 2012|11:48pm]

[ music | Suzy Maynard - Old Time Rock and Roll ]

[Taking a break from her studying, Aria was feeling that urge to sing again. This time, however, instead of belting out a love song or something equally treacly, she felt like indulging her wild side. Visible to the far right of the frame is a cheerfully plastered Aria, shooting a smirk over her shoulder as she stands with her back to the camera.

She giggles softly as she hits a button on her computer to start the music, her legs bare save for white ankle socks, upper body clad in a men's white button-down shirt that falls to just above her knees, and a pair of aviator sunglasses covering her eyes. Once the lyrics start, she indulges in her best
'Risky Business' impression, except unlike Tom Cruise she's actually singing as she dances around like a crazy person.

Collapsing in her computer chair as she finishes the song, she grins triumphantly at the camera before shutting off the feed.]
