This wasn't going well. It wasn't going well at all. At least that's how Hel saw it. She really didn't want to open her mouth because the urge to keep talking was still there as well as the giggle and snorts. For the first time, she actually felt something akin to scared. She was scared that Legion would turn around and walk away, never to speak to her again. That was the last thing she wanted.
Plus, the giggling, the snorting, the talking, being afraid, and not being able to control herself was making her just a little angry. Like usual, when there was nothing to kick, hit, or throw, she took it out on herself. While the left set of fingers were playing with the end of her sweater, the right set was scratching its nails into the back of the left hand, making deep red lines.
The digging stopped as soon as Legion said the word 'we' again. She barely noticed it before, but this time it rang through clearly. It made a familiar half smile pop up. Hel liked it when he used 'we' instead of 'I' in their conversations online. As strange as it sounded, that made her feel normal, like she wasn't the only one in this world who had a constant barrage of voices that just hung around. The only difference was, she didn't use the plural, but sometimes came out with 'I was told to tell you', or 'So-and-so wants to know/tell you/say'. Barely anyone talked to her after they heard that. That is, if they weren't run off by her constant whispering or talking to people who weren't there.
Hel nodded her head and the scratching resumed. She had to say something soon. Conversations usually worked best that way. "Many people wouldn't know good music if it ran them over with a truck. Darla has been asking for Britney Spears, but that's where I draw the line." Despite saying Darla's name, she thought she came out alright this time.
"Should we go?" she added, taking a step toward the stairway.
