"It's all good, kahlua is pretty awesome." She felt a twinge of guilt at Aidan's words, as if she'd done something wrong. "I did say I'd get the first round," she reminded him. He had brought up her five minute rant, so she assumed he remembered the other part of their deal.
No attempt was made to hide her relieved sigh as he started to move on. "Yes, sallying forth!" The sensation of Aidan's hand on her back, however fleeting, made the blush that had finally receded from her cheeks flare up anew and caused her mind to go into overdrive. "How does one sally forth, anyway? Has anyone ever defined that? Like, is it a dance move? Do you know?" The fact that she was babbling idiotically had her taking a sip of her drink in an effort to shut herself up before he somehow wised up to the fact that he was out having drinks with the same chick who once drunk-posted her pathetic outing to see the guy who cheated on her play just because the guy made her feel pretty.
She could just feel herself about to fuck things up royally. Her heart was pounding and her heart was racing over a simple, possibly unintentional touch, and if she didn't get it together fast then all her efforts to convince herself this wasn't a date would be for nothing. Truth to be told, it wasn't that she wouldn't like for this to be a date, just that classifying things as a date implied all sorts of pressure, and she was prone to at least one good round of blurting out something stupid and possibly profane when we felt pressured. The only saving grace that she could think of was that Aidan seemed equally baffled. Was it bad that she was taking comfort in that?
She watched as he slid into the booth, waiting for him to pick his spot before sliding in to sit next to him (reasoning that it was a big booth and they could hear each other better this way).
Her drink was halfway to her lips when he asked his question, and her first instinct was to just stare at him. Pursing her lips, she gently put her drink back down and took a deep breath. "What part, my eighties movie confession to you or realizing I'd actually gone through with it? They were both pretty fucking horrifying, I'd say."
