(Backdated) Log: During the space salvage mission Who: Kaylee & Crew aboard the spaceship (Multiple welcome) What: Being in space, exploring the ship, Space. Things? Where: The 'black When: Monday-Friday (previous week)
[OOC: Feel free to tag in finding Kaylee anywhere around the ship - I've mentioned a few things she might be up to. Multiple tags are welcomed!]
It was nice to be out in the 'Black again, of course Kaylee was sure that almost the entire crew would agree in a heartbeat. Maybe, this vessel wasn't Serenity, didn't have the same homey, familiar feel, or the quirks Kaylee loved so much about the perfect, feisty little Firefly-class she'd made her home; including the touches added by the crew. But it was nice all the same to be reunited with the way of life Kaylee hadn’t had any interest in leaving behind when she’d been plucked so suddenly from it. Given beggars can’t be choosers, Kaylee just set her mind to focus on what she was glad to have in front of her now. Mal was as close to himself as she’d seen him since he arrived, and their were new folks to meet in the process, folk who seemed to know this world and what they were searching for better than she did.
The salvage mission itself was a point of fascination for Kaylee, clear delight too, to go fossicking through all manner of parts and pieces, plenty of it was new to her, but she looked forward to working out anything that was unfamiliar to her. Though she fretted some for River, who’d found the salvage part of the experience less of a joy, and her whole manner had given Kaylee a weird notion to be extra cautious, and to keep her wits about her, even though it all was clearly deserted save for those on the mission. River had a way of knowing things, and as they’d found out it wasn’t just to do with a canny sense of intuition neither.
Kaylee kept herself busy about the ship for the most part, spending some time in engineering, fascinated by what kept the ship running. Though new tech always presented a bit of a puzzle, it was one mechanic certainly didn’t mind untangling, it just came naturally for her to understand and discover what made machinery tick, often how to mend it. The common areas were an idea place to spend a bit of downtime and almost always had someone else there, especially if there was food to be shared; Kaylee was always happy to make conversation, sociable with anyone she came across. Seemed there were also games and books aboard. As some of the smaller sized salvage aboard could be sorted through by hand, Kaylee was more than happy to spend time doing so, hours in fact - pondering where each item fit into what they’d been looking for.
