The area they were trying to cover wasn't so large as it could have been, all things considered, but there was still a significant enough amount of shoreline that Sam's sweeps were wide ones. The darkness didn't help, but at least it meant they were less likely to get unexpected visitors. At this stage, it was probably the intentional-but-unwanted sort they had to worry about. That he was worried about.
He flicked on their secure channel. "Got eyes on lights headed eastbound along the coast, maybe half a mile out. Appears to be some sort of vehicle, but otherwise I can't make out details. Anyone on the ground to intercept?"
