Naturally Pepper is there and willing to help with whatever is needed. She bought Peter a nice suit for internship/school/job interviews and also gave him a general gift card.

Peter's there, obviously. XD. He had a suspicion that they were planning a surprise congratulations party, but he was actually surprised with the decorations, the food, the joy. It was a really nice way to end his school career.

MJ is there. She's wearing something similar to what she wore to the opera in Far From Home, but not the exact since she doesn't have it here. She's probably hanging out on the sides.

Tony is there, of course. He also has a special present for Peter for after the party but definitely going to show him until later. It might make May very angry.

He might or might not look like he's enjoying himself.

Bucky came. He mostly stood around awkwardly in the back and made small talk with anyone trying to come by. He wished Peter congrats, and did his best not to sound like an old man.

He probably failed.

Laura had fun talking with Peter so she would have turned up, though it's doing her head in a bit that he's only her age when the Peter Parker she knows is in his 30s. Also apparently he's only one person instead of four? This world is super weird.

Sam came along as well with a present and everything though for the most part he'd have left the teenagers (and also Tony and Pepper) to their own devices unless they approached him and just mingled with the other adults.

Ned was definitely here because this is his family. He did his best to help Diane and May with anything that they needed help with before the party started. He brought Peter a really cool Lego set that he knows Peter doesn't have/would like.

He mostly kept to himself other than May, Peter and MJ. He may or may not have been secretly fan-boying over various guests.

Happy arrived that day. How's that for timing? He has no gift, unless Peter wants the toy from the Happy Meal he brought through the portal with him. He's dressed for a funeral, which to be fair, looks like his usual getup. He probably would have showed up anyway, but let Tony have the pleasure of dragging him along.

Should he feel bad about what happened to the other Happy? Where does one go when one goes poof? He's conflicted and confused about the whole situation, but any bonus time he gets to spend with Tony is a plus. And if they're able to make a difference in this timeline? He'll do whatever he can.

Don't mind him if Pepper catches him staring at her with the hint of a smile. He's just glad to see her like this instead of in mourning.

Happy definitely recognized Ned as the kid in the chair. They've had interactions after that whole video call during the Vulture thing, but Happy always thinks of him as the ballsy kid who tried to get him on the phone in the middle of his work day. Happy will joke back in that dry, cynical way that he does. But he's in a good mood. Earlier in the day, he was attending Tony Stark's memorial service, and now he's at a graduation party with the guy. Weird day.

Peter and Open to Anyone (multiple welcome)
[info]starkward
2021-05-22 03:13 pm UTC (link)
Peter was grinning like an idiot as he moved through the party, getting pats on the back and shoulder, and a lot of "congratulations". It felt really good to have his accomplishments celebrated like this.

He turned to the food table and eyed the drinks, thinking he was going to grab one of those. But which one?

Peter and Tony

Tony snuck up on Peter, because of course, he did. Punch in hand (non-alcoholic, you're welcome), he studied the food table then nodded to his intern/apprentice/son.

"Don't touch the chicken fingers, whatever you do." He was half-kidding but looked serious enough when he said it.

"So. Congrats. Got time to talk?" He put his free hand on Peter's shoulder, already ready to lead him away for a private 'father/son' kind of convo.

Re: Peter and Tony

Peter jumped a little at the sound of Tony's voice over his shoulder and glanced up at his boss/mentor/dad. "I mean, I don't trust any food that's called something that's logically impossible. Chicken don't even have fingers."

And then Mr. Stark's hand was on his shoulder and suddenly Peter felt like he was in trouble. "Uh... yes?"

Re: Peter and Tony

"Smart kid." Tony lightly patted his shoulder at the notion of not wanting to eat the chicken fingers. Tony had his reasons for warning against it.

"Good! Come on." He led Peter away from the party, not intending for it to take long. But he figured he didn't want anyone else Pepper/May overhearing.

"So, how's it feel? Being free and all that? I remember when I graduated- I mean, no I don't- long story. Hopefully, you'll remember this, though."

If only Peter knew what Tony's reasons were. If he knew there were reasons, he would have been curious. As it was, he was ready to move on to the next thing.

Which seemed really nerve-wracking.

"It's pretty good." Peter followed along with Tony and nodded. "I don't think I'll be able to forget it."

"Yeah. Good, good." Tony was leading Peter down the hall- don't worry, he would be back soon enough. It was toward the labs. He didn't tell Peter his reasoning just yet, but it was clear he had a destination in mind.

"So, gotta ask: what are your plans for the future? College, I'm assuming. You know where you're going, yet?"

(Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

Re: Peter and Tony
[info]starkward

Peter shrugged, moving along the hallway with Tony. He didn't think it was weird to be pulled away from the party temporarily. Besides, it sounded like Mr. Stark had something important to talk to him about.

And that. The dreaded question. Truthfully, Peter probably could have gotten in to almost any college he wanted to go to. But to either ask Aunt May to help pay for it, or get himself into a hundred thousand dollars (or more) worth of college debt? He wasn't sure he wanted that.

Besides, he couldn't do full time college and be Spider-Man.

"Oh. Yeah. I'm gonna go the Community College route."

(Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

Re: Peter and Tony

"Community College?" Tony frowned, not that there was anything wrong with community college. But Peter was brilliant. He figured there'd be scholarship- hell, he'd offer a scholarship. But that's not why he was talking to the kid about this.

"So you're staying local." Good. Tony nodded. "I mean, New York is local, right? NYC. Columbia." He stopped in front of a lab and hit the pin to open the door.

"Anyway, good to know."

Stepping in, Tony let Peter go first.

On display was a new Spider-Man suit, the latest tech included. Nicer than even the one Tony made last time. "Figured I would wait to give it to you as a graduation gift, seeing as you're an official Avenger now and all that." He said it casually.

"And since you're staying local, there are a few extra doohickies in there you might like. I mean, if you want it." Tony shrugged.

"Then again, no pressure to take the Avengers position. School's tough. And a paid internship is definitely going to make it a bit tougher- but worth your while by the time you graduate."

Re: Peter and Tony

Peter could hear the judgement in Mr. Stark's voice. While he may have been pretty much a genius, Peter wasn't the only smart kid out of Midtown School of Science and Technology. He was... maybe a little above average. And with the strangest senior year ever, he wasn't really sure what to do with his college applications.

"Yeah, well, I figure I have time to uh... to figure out where I want to go." Using the word "figure" twice in that sentence threw him off guard.

He stepped into the room and blinked at the new suit. New and improved. Peter's jaw dropped and he moved forward slowly, eyes trained on the spider suit.

"...what... is this...? Is this for me?"

Tony was happy to see how taken Peter was by the new suit. Nodding and patting the kid on the shoulder before leaving him to it. "Yeah. I definitely didn't make it in my size."

He was proud of the kid. "You've earned it. And I figure it's probably best to keep you alive for as long as possible and this should help. You wanna try it out?"

"Oh man. Oh jeez." Peter moved over to touch the suit, reaching out to run his fingers over it. It was far too beautiful for Peter. He wasn't even sure what to say.

"Y-Yeah. Yes, I do." Peter turned back to Tony, grinning brightly. It was like Christmas and his birthday all rolled into one.

"Go for it. I'll hold off the others for a while- just uh, don't take too long. Unless you wanna climb through the window. In which case, please don't break the glass."

He shook his head.

"I'm kidding, the glass is shatterproof. Well, maybe not with that suit. Be careful, alright?"

Peter nodded. He couldn't wait to get his hands on the suit. He didn't think he wanted to get outside, but he definitely wanted to get the mask on his head to check out the new software.

He moved to the suit and took the mask to inspect it carefully. "I'm always careful," he added, giving Tony a grin. "Thank you. So much."

Tony was trying to play it cool but probably failing miserably. That grin couldn't be hidden, no matter how cool Tony thought he looked.

"Yeah, yeah. Go have fun." He put his hands in his pocket and stood there for a second before he realized Peter probably wanted to get changed.

"Uh...right. See you back at the party." Tony turned to leave.

Sabrina hasn't been around for very long, but she already considers Peter a friend. And she's definitely going to celebrate his graduation with him. She ever helped with the decorations, and enchanted the room to really make it look like they were at an actual luau.

And she's definitely going to have some of the food. If Peter would look to his right, he'd see that one of the cans of soda was floating.

Sabrina caught it in her hand, giving him a grin. "So," she said, grin still intact, "This is where you have to become a serious adult now, right?"

Once he realized that someone had stepped up beside him, Peter glanced over and broke into a smile. there weren't all that many teenagers running around the compound, so he was making it a point to get to know all of them.

"Heaven forbid," Peter said, lifting the glass of coke up as if in a toast. "I don't know if I'll ever become a serious adult."

Sharon and OTA (Open to Anyone)
[info]exshieldagent
2021-05-22 03:19 pm UTC (link)
The party was nice. Since Sharon was roommates with May, she'd gotten to know both May and her nephew Peter fairly well over the last few weeks. They were good people. Sharon was honored to be able to come and celebrate Peter's high school graduation with them. With the portals and all these other things going on, Peter didn't get a traditional graduation and celebration... so this was the next best thing.

Sharon was lingering around the edge of the crowd with a glass of wine, watching the festivites. They had a lot of things to be wary of--a lot of things to make them nervous, anxious, unhappy (Thanos, etc.)--but it was nice to take a couple of hours and attempt to put that on the backburner.

Steve and OTA (multiple welcome)
[info]onurleft
2021-05-22 03:30 pm UTC (link)
Steve wasn't much for parties. He felt a little socially awkward in these large group situations, especially when he didn't know everyone. He was here for Peter, though, to celebrate the kid's graduation. That was definitely a reason to celebrate.

He watched May for a little bit, smiling at how lovingly she talked about Peter, and watched him from her position as party host. He turned his attention to Diana, who also was a gracious and generous host, both with her time, smiles, and attention.

Steve decided to settle on one of the comfortable sofas so he could people watch from a relaxed position.

While Natasha had been distant, dealing with the ramifications of her death and her subsequent appearance here, she struggled to find meaning. Her decision had meaning, it had a goal, an agenda, and a purpose, and now she was here again, trying to stop the worst thing that could happen from happening. Again. It made her life (and death) feel... small, pointless.

But moments like these — celebrations that she'd never get to see in the world she'd left — were important, and Natasha had made it a point to go to as many as she could.

With that in mind, she flopped down on the couch next to Steve. "You know, Bucky thought you and I" — here, she gestured between them with her finger "— were a thing."

Steve had been giving Nat space. In retrospect, he should have been a little more nosy, a little more forcefully supportive, a little more present for her. He knew that looking over at her as she flopped onto the sofa beside him. And it made him feel incredibly guilty.

None of that showed in his expression. He remained pleasant, happy. He was smiling as she joined him, and the smile turned into a hearty smirk. "Natasha Romanoff. Are you coming on to me?"

"Well..." she said, pretending to think about it. "We have already had a kid together. I don't remember any of it, and I'm pretty sure you don't either, but we've got that part down already."

Natasha watched Peter as he bounced between friends and family. She'd never had moments like these in her life. The world Graduation meant something entirely different to her. It would be nice if Clint and his family was here, but he was safely tucked away in Missouri, spending lots of time together. She wished she could call them, but everything about his home arrest was heavily monitor. If she called, she'd put that all in danger.

Steve actually blushed. He was grinning softly, glad that she took his tease as just that: a tease. But then she brought their son into the mix, and Steve flushed pink as his mind went to procreation. Silly boy. "Unfortunately, I don't remember any of it."
