Who: Karli Morgenthau and Ava Starr What: Two Radicals Meet at a Rise for Climate Rally When: Saturday, September 25 Where: Bryant Park, NYC Warning: tbd... Status: Ongoing, Closed
The year 2018 wasn't exactly a quiet one, politically speaking.
Hell, the same could be said stretching back since time immemorial, but Karli had been keeping her head down and just focusing on the last few. Before the Snap, she'd been tangentially aware of the latest hot button issues. Most of her attention had been on working on her next meal and the latest place to live. Now, however, she had clarity of purpose. A world without borders. One world, one people.
It had worked before, there really was no non-governmental/corporate reason why it couldn't now. She remembered seeing a picture of a woman holding a sign from the climate change march in the city earlier that very month: "One Planet One Humanity." People got it. Not enough, sure, but it was a start. So when she heard the same group was holding another rally today, she thought she'd check it out herself. Get a lay of the land from a surface level, see if she might detect any like-minded individuals.
As far as she knew, she wasn't on any watch lists, but she'd been very careful about bundling her hair up and back, tucking most of it into tight braids. Sadly, it was too hot for one of her beloved hoodies, so she just had to make do with a pair of cheap drug store sunglasses and a dumb baseball cap with a stylized globe stitched onto it. The shorts and t-shirt with the sleeves rolled up made her feel even more exposed, but she didn't fancy passing out from heat exhaustion in the middle of all this. That was the wrong way to draw attention.
But as she made her way through the decent sized crowd, who was listening to the latest in a line of fiery speakers, she couldn't help but feel like she was being observed.
