Event: Uchiha Shisui Backstory
In a war-torn world filled with bloodshed, Shisui was born in the corner of a large island known as the Water Country. His young life was relatively peaceful, as his mother and himself were tucked away in a small village by the sea. The problem was, she was a missing-ninja; a deserter to the army of ninja. And like most missing-ninja, her country caught up with her. She was killed brutally and left in a ditch, leaving a four year old Shisui to find her body.
He fled to the streets, leaving her memory to become a deity for him. She had taught him the unique art of flickering, and between this and a child’s view of his mother, she became a storm goddess to him. To this day, he still believes this.
Shisui was a bastard from a very high-powered clan in another country, one known for it’s bloodline and subsequent powers. In the Water country, such things were hated. In the time that he was there, there were constant massacres of clans that carried bloodline limits. Having developed a power called the sharingan at an early age, and having the physical characteristics of a famous clan, he was known in the town. This made it easy for the agents from the clan to find and drag a six year old Shisui back to Konoha. How they spared the people to recover a bastard child during the war years is unknown.
Despite sending agents to a foreign country, no one wanted to bother with the child. For the first few weeks of his life in a new country, he was sent from house to house, no one wanting to deal with a violent child like him. Attempts to explain were lost on the foreign, panic-stricken child, and they eventually left him to his own devices until they found the perfect job for one so small and fast; going out into the old battlefields and counting the dead. It was when he came back alive, and for the most part unscathed, that they realized that he was more than a violent young child.
It was through this violent job that Shisui found his cousin - the clan heir - Itachi. When he brought him back to the clan compound, the adults had the ingenious idea of leaving Itachi in a six year old’s care, as the others were busy fighting.
When the war ended, Itachi and Shisui were inseparable. He was the closest Shisui was to, both in and out of the clan. He was the only one Shisui considered true family, as his own father never made an attempt to form a bond with him.
Though Shisui had a rough childhood, he evolved into something better. He learned quickly and easily when he wanted to, taking any style of teaching and turning it into something he could use. He advanced through the ranks quickly, as most of his free time was devoted to learning, training, and Itachi.
Shisui became a prodigy at illusions and being able to cast them, and developed a series of his own genjutsu. Among these, was a terrible illusion that can a) get inside the mind of anyone it is cast on, and b) can bend people to its will without their knowledge. If it were cast on a person, stabbing themselves in the stomach until death would seem perfectly logical.
Shisui honed this skill, but it had consequences. Every time he used it, it would damage his mind a little further. Among other side effects, Shisui became violent. Quicker to attack, and more paranoid. Delusional, and unable to recognize those he knew from those he perceived as enemies.
There was pressure put on the pair of friends as the family planned to overthrow the village leaders. Shisui made a show of supporting them, but he was plotting with Itachi on how to stop it. Or attempting. By this point, he was having constant irrational episodes that left him unable to function. While they were able to cobble an effective plan together on how to stop the coup from happening, people noticed Shisui’s weakness, and acted on it.
By orders of a village elder, Shisui’s eye was ripped out of his socket. While there had been attempts to take the other, he escaped and came to Itachi. Informing him blithely that the plan would not work with him being so injured and weak, Shisui gave his remaining eye to Itachi, and asked him to drown him.
For better or worse, Itachi complied.
