Who: Eddie Nigma (The Riddler); NPC Doctor
Where: Gotham City General Hospital
When: Thursday June 17th, Morning
Summary: Eddie gets some bad news
It all started with headaches so intense that they would wake Eddie from his sleep. Gradually, the pain would fade as the day progressed, but a couple of times he felt nauseous but after vomited it got better. The headaches didn't happen every day, but they did make Eddie concerned. When he told the guards, they walked by his cell, sneered and continue on their rounds, blatantly ignoring his complaints. It was only after Eddie's first seizure that they took him seriously; the guards found Eddie on the floor of his cell, muscles uncontrollably twitching, looking as though he was having an epileptic fit. At first the guards thought it was an escape ploy, but the suspicious guards finally went in to investigate. That was how Eddie found himself in the hospital, IV's stuck in his arms and handcuffed to his steel bed with a guard standing outside the door to his room.
A number of days had passed since the event and his doctor, a tired Indian man by the name of Sandeep, came to see Eddie, the patient's file in hand. He stood close to the bed and said, soberly, "Mr Nigma, we have the results of the MRI. I'm afraid it shows you have a tumor in your brain."
Eddie stared up at the doctor with a blank expression, stunned by the news. "How bad is it?" he asked, trying not to sound concerned, but failing.
"We won't be able to tell if it's malignant without a biopsy." Dr Sandeep didn't sound very optimistic, though. "The tumor is fairly large, located in the area of the cerebellum and brain stem. With your permission, we'll need to do a few more tests, to help diagnosis your condition and see what we can do for you."
Speechless, Eddie folded his arms across his chest, his thoughts directed inward as he digested what he'd just been told, as if in a trance. So much so that Dr Sandeep wondered if he had heard the request. "Mr Nigma?" he asked, and Eddie snapped back to life.
"Yes, tests." Eddie had been listening, though his voice sounded distracted. "Whatever needs to be done."
"We can have you prepped for the biopsy this afternoon. It's a simple procedure, and we can know the results in a couple of days."
