Narrative: The Joker
Who: The Joker, Brian Jacobs (NPC), The babies (NPC)
Where: Gotham, Gotham Central Zoo
When: June 16, 2010
Summary: The Joker interrogates a surprisingly brave fellow.
Notes: Trying to get back in the swing of things hurts.
"Please! I--I don't--DON'T! I Don't know! I SWEAR! I swear to you! I don't know! I d-don't know. DON'T! I swear! Please! I don't know!" The words became a mantra as Brian Jacobs, a low level dealer with connections cowered against a concrete wall. With each syllable that he spoke, the "hardened" criminal attempted to curl into a tighter ball. As if that would protect Brian from the horrors this man, this Clown Prince could inflict upon him. Here at Gotham Central Zoo, there would be no mercy, no last minute rescues. Just the law of the jungle. Brian's infantile tears and wails smothered the vicious sounds of two ravenous hyenas that strained against their restraints to attack Brian.
Cold, merciless eyes regarded him for what seemed like hours but was really only a handful of minutes. The clown sucked in air through his yellow teeth in what would amount to a disgusted gesture. Half lidded eyes flickered from the sobbing form of Brian Jacobs to the nearest dog. "Ooohhh. Sh-sh-sh. There.. there. It'll be alright." The clown cooed to his prize in a voice as thick as honey. Gloved fingers danced across the scalp of the hyena in an affectionate gesture that calmed the wild beast. The scar tissue that framed his mouth twitched in the approximation of a smirk before those black eyes hardened once more.
"Tut tut, Brian." He whispered to the fetal form, his voice laced with arsenic. "You're not being a very good guest." The Joker sounded exasperated, as if he had chastised a neighbor that forgot to wipe his feet at the door. "Here I bring you into my home, show you my hospitality and you can't even answer just one, little 'ol, question." His mouth stretched the last few syllables oddly as he moved closer to the man. With each step Joker took, Brian flinched away as if he might phase through the very wall itself. The sight of Brian as he cowered on the floor succeeded in only aggravating Joker further. "If you're not careful Brian, I might not stay so jolly." The clown's tone turned dark and something sinister burned in those eyes. Another round of begging started and Joker stalked back over to the hyena's.
Powerful fingers seized a hold of the hyena's leash. With the jerk of a knife, The Joker severed the leash from its post and held the animals at bay. "RED HOOD! Red Hood is calling the shots!" Brian screamed over and over as he brought hands up to shield him.
"Was that so hard, Brian?" The Joker asked with a mischievous little smirk that sealed Brian's fate. A twisted, depraved laugh burst forth from Joker as he released the leash and let the hounds loose on his prisoner. It seemed someone was dredging up his past. That wouldn't do. Not. One. Bit.
