Who: Kate Kane and friends.
Where: Gotham City.
When: June 6th. Backdated.
Summary: Out for a drink. It shouldn’t be so hard.
Sometimes, playing the part of a rich heiress with no day job had its advantages. Like when your friends decided to randomly call you for a night on the town and you were actually available.
Of course, being available was a rather loose term for Kate. When she wasn’t patrolling, either she on the Colonel kept at eye on the scanners, ready to get into costume the moment it was needed. Gotham may have had its share of costumes crime fighters, but somehow, sometimes they were always needed.
Tonight, it wasn’t the thought of trouble brewing out there that kept her on her toes, though. It was the thought of recent events regarding a certain Gotham City officer.
When it came to relationships past, Kate liked to think she had things under control. Somehow, most relationships could end in an amicable way and she and the ex could hang from time to time and remain friends when all was said and done. Things with Renee were not as simple. Still thinking of their last encounter, Kate half listened to what Mallory had to say, half thought about picking up her phone, calling Renee and…. Then what? No matter what Kate said, it would somehow come out wrong and things would be worse than ever. It was always like this when it came to Renee. And yet Kate couldn’t let go.
In the end, Kate put the phone away, promising herself she would only answer it if her father called. It would be easier that way.
Or so she liked to tell herself.
