Who: Jason Todd & Thomas Elliot
Where: Gotham City.
When: 5/27, Late Night
Summary: Jason and Tommy meet once more to discuss their plan to trick Batman.

It had been four days since Jason's first encounter with the mysterious Hush and he was now preparing for yet another meeting with him. He was standing within the Gleason Paper Factory as per their agreement, waiting impatiently. This impatience wasn't apparent in his demeanor, but he was definitely feeling it.

He wouldn't admit it to anyone, but he had been anxious about this meeting. The chance to interact with Bruce without revealing himself to be alive was an opportunity of a lifetime and it pained him to have to wait so long to put the plan into motion. Usually he was patient and calculating, but something about this made him act like he had as a child - brash and impulsive. It wasn't a good thing. He needed to control this or it'd cause him problems like it had in the past.

Tommy had let Jason arrive first, sensing that Red Hood could perhaps be a volatile character. Once he'd observed Jason for a moment, he stepped forward to greet him, a file folder in his hand. There was so much more than the confrontation with Bruce at hand. He had so many questions about Bruce's family dynamic--ones which Jason Todd could shed light upon.

"Good evening," he muttered coolly.

"'Bout time," came Jason's response. That was the only indication of his impatience he expressed to the man standing before him. He looked over Hush, sizing him up. He wanted to make sure he had a good understanding on how he could take the guy down if he needed to.

Jason noticed the file folder and he nodded his head towards it. "Papers?" He was curious as to why Hush would be walking around with a manila folder like that. It couldn't have been information about the plan... did he realize how easily that could be traced if he happened to lose one of the sheets?

Hush for his part didn't appear to be a very dangerous sort. However, the quiet with which he approached and the slight bulge of the guns by his side were indicators that he was much more dangerous than he let on.

"I had some things I needed to run by you. After all, right now you're getting quite a bit out of this partnership. I thought it might pick your brain a bit." He didn't open the folder though, not yet. "I reached out to a contact I believe can help us. I'll take car of the man's fees. Have you picked a setting?"

Jason wasn't sure how he felt about getting his brain picked by this stranger. He liked his secrets and wanted to keep them as such. But still, he wasn't going to bite the hand that was feeding him. Not until he was sure he was going to get everything he needed out of this deal. So he'd let him ask his questions.

"I have," Jason replied. He didn't go into any more detail. "A place that allows an easy switch with your contact."

"Good. I'll let you work out the coordinates and timing with him," Tommy wasn't too concerned about Todd and Clayface. He fished out a card upon which a name and number were scrawled. "Here's how you can reach him. He knows he's going up against Batman. I think he's even a little excited at the prospect."

Finally, Tommy opened up the folder. "I have looked into the other boys in Bruce Wayne's life, but one connection has eluded me." He pulled out a picture of a young woman and handed it over to Jason. "Barbara Gordon." He handed him another picture that had been discreetly taken in Dick Grayson's home of her prominent spot on the boy's wall of pictures. "Daughter of Commissioner James Gordon. Former girlfriend of Richard Grayson, and from what I have been able to discern in my research, the two of you would have worked together for some time. What I was curious to know is how she fits into the puzzle now." He pulled out an evidence photograph that he had been able to bribe off of a dirty cop. She was naked and in a pool of her own blood. "Since she isn't running on rooftops anymore."

He had seen her at Bruce's birthday party, and he had given the girl quite a deal of his valuable social time. The way he had spoken with her...brief moments of something different had floated across his face. It was the Bruce Wayne behind the mask, and because Tommy had seen it, he was not going to overlook her. For whatever reason, like the others, she was important to Bruce.

Jason pocketed the card, barely glancing at it. He wasn't concerned with the card at that particular moment. He would contact the person in a day or so. What he was interested in right now was this folder and questions Hush wanted to ask him.

His eyes narrowed, hidden by his mask, when Hush finally revealed what he had in that folder of his. Jason didn't expect to be drilled on Babs' involvement with Bruce. He also didn't expect to be presented with a photo of Barbara after the Joker got to her. He had seen the photo before, bit it still made him angry to see her in such a state. It didn't matter how many times he saw it.

Despite his anger, Jason kept a clear head. He needed to tread carefully. He didn't want refuse to reveal anything, but at the same time he didn't want to reveal too much. He needed to tell Hush just enough to get him off his back.

"I have no idea," Jason responded, handing the photos back to Hush. "I worked with her, but the incident occurred after I was out of the picture. What I know about her involvement now is pretty much what you know."

No idea? Tommy was a little pissed at that reply, though his anger was well hidden. He wasn't a charity, and even if there was a pay off just in having Jason taunt Bruce, he wanted more out of this connection. Jason had been on the inside of everything. He knew how the operations worked and had the anger and thirst for revenge that should have made him meticulous in his knowledge. Was he lying to Tommy? Was he too focused on Bruce?

Considering the young man's volatility, he would have to approach this carefully. "I guess I'll just have to keep digging then. It's a shame...how connected she still is to him even though he did nothing to prevent this from happening. Bruce has always been rather selfish in his ambitions, hasn't he?" It was an offering, one that suggested the Hush had personal reasons to be in this fight. He wasn't just some crazed criminal looking to make his mark.

That hit the mark. Jason often wondered why Babs still had such loyalty to Bruce despite what happened. It was his inaction - his "morality" - that caused it. If he had manned up and taken out the Joker, she would still be Batgirl. Hush was right; Bruce was selfish. He claimed his role as Batman was to stop crime, but it was really just an excuse to make himself feel better. If he really wanted to stop crime, he'd do everything in his power to do so.

"He is," Jason agreed, staring at Hush's face. He was trying to see if maybe he could place the man's features. This man knew Bruce, but how? And if he did, did he ever see him during his time with Bruce?

"Just how do you know him?" He knew the man wouldn't tell him, but he never hurt to ask. "You're not a random person with no ties."

"No, I'm not," Tommy admitted, shrugging his shoulders. He wasn't about to offer up too much information to Jason. It would defeat the purpose of his whole operation. He wasn't like the boy, who needed to inject himself back into Bruce's life. He was happy to ruin Bruce from afar. It was necessary to succeed where so many others had failed.

Still, earning the trust of others was an important step. Even if they probably were better off not trusting Hush, Tommy wanted his collaborators to feel that the work they were doing for him was worthwhile. "Let's just say I knew him before the events that lead him down his path."

The wonderful thing was that Bruce had done half of the work for him. That single-minded quest for justice and Bruce's studies abroad had put a lot of distance between the two childhood friends. They probably had heard nothing of Tommy--nothing that Tommy himself hadn't carefully planted these past few months.

In other words, I wouldn't know anything about him, Jason mentally concluded. Bruce was never the type to open up about his past. Even when he was officially adopted Jason couldn't say he knew a great deal about his "father's" life before he became Batman. He was curious just who this man was to Bruce and what he had done to make him hate him so much now.

With that bit of extra information, Jason decided perhaps giving Hush a little more on Barbara might be beneficial. He could always use information from someone that knew Bruce personally back in the day.

"She had many talents. Intelligent, good with computers." He motioned to the folder in Hush's hand, indicating he was returning to the topic of Barbara Gordon. "If you dig deeper than some photos from a crime scene, maybe you'd have better luck figuring what she could be doing now."
