Who: Cheshire Where: Internet When: Friday, May 21st Summary: Prelude to the earth shattering Ka-Boom
The computers flickered and blinked--the first signs that something was about to go wrong.
Scientists, technicians, guards and all the other personnel in Checkmate abandoned their work and breaks to stare, as the face of one of the most cruel assassins in the world appeared on every internet-connected computer screen in the building, a maniacal grin on her face and a hard glint in her eyes. Coffee cups paused in mid-air, pens stopped writing, conversations hung in the air. All eyes were focused on the woman, or would be once the first words left her mouth.
"You have ten minutes."
There were only four words before the woman's pause and psychotic laughter. But as soon as the words were out, keyboards started clicking and virtual searches began as the staff tried to find the impending calamity. Cheshire that they would all be too late. By the time someone figured out what exactly it was that was wrong, her plan would be underway. In fact, her nukes were already launching and targeted at some of the major cities around the world. By the time a team was assembled, nothing short of Superman would be able to stop them. But even he can't stop all five...
The woman laughed in mockery and continued with menace in her voice, "I lied. You see, little lab monkeys, I've sent five nuclear bombs on their way to destroy the world. That's right, you didn't hear wrong. Five nuclear bombs. The firing sequence has already started--"
People started scurrying and shouting orders. Calls were made and nearly everyone was in panic mode. Coffee breaks were cut short and everyone got to work. Five nuclear bombs were no laughing matter, contrary to what the woman demonstrated. The two nuclear bombs that had been fired during World War II had affected generations of people, and now, there were five being fired? It was unimaginable.
"--I hope you have a spare a trillion dollars lying around, or a handful of countries would be hurting very very soon."
The connection was severed and the screens went blank, before displaying an account number, to which the cash should be wired into.
OOC: Changed the plan a bit due to lack of certain characters. The video can be interjected and/or sent to JLA, Oracle etc. and everyone can send their characters to stop the nukes in the open thread.
