Who: Ra's al Ghul, Lady Shiva Where: Cusco, Peru. The Temple of Coriancha When: Wednesday, may 19th, 2010 What: Lady Shiva believes that she longer has a physical challenger in the world that can stand against her martial prowess. For sport and to reward her years of service to him, Ra's agrees to resurrect an ancient warrior for her to face.
Like all things coordinated by the League of Assassins, especially at the behest of Ra's himself, the transport of Lady Shiva to Peru ran like clock work. Everything from her pick up in Gotham, to the various drivers and men assigned to bring her to Peru ran according to a carefully and meticulously planned schedule that left no room for error. At no point was Shiva made to wait. And never was she allowed to want for anything, as her meals were just as carefully laid out. Her journey had started in a nondescript taxi that had taken her to Gotham's airport. From there, she had been directed to a private learjet that flew her to Peru. Once there, she was picked up by yet another car that drove her to the Temple of Coriancha, where she was to begin her search.
But upon arriving outside the temple, she found herself met with the first and only unexpected surprise and variance in the plan she had been given. Her mission, such as it was, stated that she would be meeting with 'Ubu', who would act as her guide and assistant. Instead, upon stepping out of the car that immediately sped away upon her exit, she found herself facing the back tall man dressed in black, as though either oblivious or impervious to the oppressive heat. She would, without doubt, recognize immediately.
"Did you know that the walls and floors of this temple were once covered in solid gold?", he asked and said in greeting to his most formidable of warriors. "The court yard was filled with gold statues as well, a few of which I have in my private collection", he went on, as he turned on his heel to face Shiva. "The majority of the gold used for the ransom of Atahualpa came from this very temple."
Another thing Shiva would notice was that Ra's was alone. No Ubu. No henchmen of any kind in sight. Just random tourists and civilians passing by and between them. For all intents and purposes, Ra's appeared as little more than a wealthy businessman on vacation.
Taking one step toward Shiva, Ra's lowered his voice just slightly as a young boy ran right by them. "It is a good thing we are not here for gold", he stated simply, with a rare and wry smile.
