Who: Jennie-Lynn Hayden and William Hand (dun dun dun~) Where: The Outsiders HQ and then the streets of L.A. When: Saturday, May 15, 2010 Summary: Jade notices some suspicious activity in the L.A. area and goes to investigate. She then runs into William Hand and a fight breaks out!
The role of the leader was never an easy one and not one to shirk her duties, Jade typically dealt with a lot of unfavorable tasks. It seemed that everyone, save for the Question (who Jade couldn't ever track down...), hated research. It was, well, boring and it seemed most of the Outsiders weren't even keeled enough to sit down for a spell in the monitoring room for long periods of time. The rest of the team seemed more action orientated - she certainly couldn't imagine The Creeper sitting still long enough to do anything at all for that matter, let alone actual work.
Sitting in the lower level of the HQ, Jade brought up digital feeds of all local police channels and scanned the airwaves while she checked in with the other super teams around the country. It seemed that all was quiet. That was good she though as she continued to tap away at the keyboard inlaid into the console. Once completed with the superficial scan and all of the preliminary work was done, she narrowed her search and began to systematically go through the news reports, starting locally and branching out from there. She remained local, only extending out of her jurisdiction in the event of a national emergency. The whole process could take hours or days, depending on how long you wanted to dedicate yourself to it.
Usually Jade spent about six hours a day here, if not more depending on how active an evening it was, then she would go to the field or radio in tasks for her other teammates and monitor from the HQ.
There were a few accidents on the interstate, nothing major, just fender benders, but otherwise everything seemed quiet. Nothing anyone needed a Green Lantern for. She was biding her time by (maybe) reading the Entertainment section of the New York Times when an alert was sounded and Jen stood from her seat to get a better look at the flashing map. That was L.A.! She thought, recognizing the coordinates immediately. Her fingers tapped at a rapid pace bringing up more information and isolating the police scanner.
"...That's a 649 in progress at the corner of Belmont and Crooks..."
649! That was a super-powered disturbance. Was there more information that that? Jen waited and in the interim she tracked who was near. Damn. Huntress and Bat Girl were in Gotham and she had sent Todd to visit dad, meaning she'd have no back up. As the leader she shouldn't be breaking the rules by going interceding a super-powered individual by herself, but she her faith in her own abilities was absolute, besides it probably wasn't anything serious anyways. Making her way topside, Jen took to the skies to investigate.
