In these situations Dick often found the best course of action was to simply ignore Damian's challenge. The time he had spent with Rook had afforded Nightwing some insight into the inner workings of his faithful sidekick. This boy had been bred and designed to be a fighter on almost every level. Dick was quite certain Damian was being ornery for the sheer sake of starting an argument with his appointed guardian. The real person he needed to speak to was standing behind Damian, pulling his strings.
Nightwing's brow furrowed in obvious annoyance at Talia's words. She wanted to undo all of the work they had done to give Damian as normal a childhood as possible. But to what end? "No." Was the short answer. "I didn't come here to force Damian away from you. Nor did I come here to play mind games with him. I want Damian to come back with me of his own free will and not because I made him believe it was his choice." The words had an accusing undertone to them. Nightwing had pieced everything together. Damian was a stubborn brat and there was no way he would be standing there so calmly unless Talia had gotten into his head. "Damian is like a brother to me and I believe his place is back home with his family." Nightwing looked from Talia back to Damian. "However if you would truly rather stay here with your mother, I understand."
((OOC:Let me know if I should change the last portion. As I said, I was completely at a loss for what Dick should say. If you don't think this is the way to go, I'd be happy to figure something else out. :) ))
