Narrative: Hush
Who: Dr. Thomas Elliot
Where: Jefferson University Hospital, Philadelphia
When: Monday morning, 4/12
Summary: Tommy starts making plans from an upcoming engagement

"Your problem, Bruce, is that you don't see the whole picture. That's why I'm going to win."

The door to Thomas Elliot's office was closed, which meant no interruptions unless someone was in need of no less than a miracle. The early hours of Monday morning were spent going over his patient's charts and looking over his schedule for the week. He was keeping a grueling pace through to Thursday, but it would be worth it to have his schedule cleared.

He stared unblinkingly at the calendar on his desk, at the red circle marking Saturday. Bruce Wayne was living to see another year, which Tommy supposed the man thought was some great accomplishment--especially if he was leaping over rooftops and dodging gunfire nightly as Tommy suspected he was.

It was almost laughable, their being born so close to each other, drawn in together from birth it seemed. As always, Tommy had a head start on Bruce, nine days ahead of him, always a few steps ahead. And oh how their mothers had tittered together about joint birthday parties when they were young and dreamed about the future adventures their boys would share together--futures that Mrs. Wayne would never live to see, futures that Mrs. Elliot would wax poetic upon while crushing Tommy under her thumb...while Bruce gallivanted across Europe and Asia. What the women hadn't had the foresight to understand was that he and Bruce were never meant to lifelong friends or brothers. They had always been destined to be locked in a silent conflict.

To Tommy, it felt more intimate this way.

A smile came to his lips. He already had a great idea for a birthday surprise.
