Who: Zatanna Zatara, Dinah Lance Where: Gotham City, NJ When: 04/10/10 -- afternoon Summary: It's the weekend and Zee takes the afternoon off to do a little shopping.
It was spring and that meant the weather had finally turned nice. Zatanna knew she had a million and seven things to do-- rehearse her act, research how to exterminate gremlins who'd been cropping up around Shadowcrest the last few weeks, check in with the League, call Arnie to get next week's schedule finalized, send letters/checks/both to organizations plying her for donations or charity shows, etc. etc.-- but the weather was finally nice, and she wanted to get out of her dusty old mansion. (Plus, the gremlins were seriously annoying; she needed a break from killing those things.)
So here she was in Gotham's shopping district, enjoying the sun and the way it felt to wear jeans instead of the pants-less uniform she found herself in more often than not. (Seriously, between performing and fighting crime, she felt like she lived in the damn thing.) It wasn't like she really needed anything in particular but that wasn't the point of shopping in Zatanna's opinion. No, it was stress relieving frivolity and she was only too happy to indulge. Besides, the new summer fashions were starting to debut and it was fun to see what was out there.
Fun. Yeah. Zatanna remembered fun...
Okay, so maybe she was being a little dramatic as she sighed and took a long sip from the frozen mocha drink that she was relatively certain was more sugar than anything else but the days had been long these last few weeks. It'd been all work, work, work between performing and banishing evil.
Zatanna resolved not to think about it any longer. She was here, walking the street and window shopping like a normal person, and she was going to enjoy it, damn it! (Hell, she was enjoying it; she'd just been indulging on a little mental whining, but she was back now.) Besides, without her top hat and fishnets on, she was practically invisible-- which made for some interesting people watching when the clothes watching got tiresome. So, yeah. Today was definitely a good day.
