Re: Karen Starr + Bruce
"Very much so, thank you," Bruce answered, pretending to drink from the glass. He held the glass near the rim, the sign to Alfred that he'd been stuck with a glass of real alcohol.
"The company in particular is excellent," he added, noticing out of the corner of his eye how Alfred had seen the signal and was moving into place. "Though don't be so quick to discount a clothing swap. My wardrobe is quite impressive. We could go upstairs and—" and there it was. On the word 'upstairs', he'd gestured toward the staircase with his drink hand—the way a person who'd had one too many might do—and sloshed half the drink on the floor. "Oh dear," he said looking at the mess.
One of the servants immediately started seeing to the spill while Alfred suddenly appeared at Bruce's side, took the glass, and handed Bruce a cloth to dry his hand. "Sorry about that, overenthusiastic, I think," Bruce apologized to both Alfred and Karen. He handed the cloth back to Alfred in exchange for a fresh glass, this time filled with ginger ale. The whole exchange took less than a minute.
