Thread: Big D and Little D Who: Dick Grayson, Damian Wayne Where: Blüdhaven, Grayson's brownstone When: 04/16/10, late afternoon. Summary: Conversation about the upcoming festivities.
Superheroes kept odd hours. Sidekicks, like Damian, kept slightly less hectic ones, but it was far from the average child his age. Some kids might use the late hours as an excuse to sleep in past noon, but Damian held himself to higher standards. That, and he was never allowed to laze about back with the League. Old habits died hard, especially deeply ingrained ones. Damian was awake long before noon.
First, he tackled the remainder of his studies. With the hectic events of a past few days, the work had been shunted aside. He brought out his books and set up shop at the kitchen table. The day's reading was deadly boring and did nothing to distract him from a thought that had been plaguing his mind for several days. Damian hunched over his book farther, as if trying to get closer to it would make him more focused on the work. Several hours later, he gave up all pretense of trying to read. He sat back and focused solely on the matter of his father's upcoming birthday.
It was not a matter of him not understanding what a birthday was, since the concept itself was hardly difficult. Instead, it was more a question of why anyone would want to celebrate one and why his father in particular would want one. Damian never celebrated a birthday, nor had he been to a celebration of one. While he had a basic idea of what to expect, the internet was full of many wonders, he wanted to know what the expect of his father's birthday parties particularly. There was one person on hand who could easily answer that, even though Damian was loathe to seek out his help.
Swallowing his pride, feeling that it would be better to do so now than embarrassing himself in the company of his father, Damian sought out Grayson.
