Waiting until the Ravenclaw walked away, Blaise let the pleasant expression drop from his face. While he didn’t like many of the students at Hogwarts, he couldn’t afford to draw attention to his opinions. Standing up, he stretched a bit before gathering his things and moving to a more out of the way corner of the library. Placing his satchel on the floor, he settled himself into a worn leather chair. He’d chosen this chair because it allowed him to place his back to the wall so that he could see what was going on around him. If there was one thing Blaise didn’t like, it was people sneaking up on him. It’s not that he was paranoid per se, he was careful. Reaching into the satchel he pulled out a slim book, taking care not to jostle it too much. Gently opening the book he breathed in the musty smell of the old book, wincing slightly as he heard the spine crack. Making a mental note to try and find someway to care for the binding, he began to read.
He often preferred to read in the library rather than the Slytherin common room. Blaise often found that if he chose to read there he’d be pestered by the younger years or worse by Crabbe or Goyle. The Slytherin had little to no patience for those two, seeing them as nothing but lackeys. It wasn’t just that they were unintelligent, but they were seemingly fine with their high level of ignorance. Shaking his head, he turned his attention back to his book on little known potions. With any luck he’d be able to finish this chapter before his next class. “Were you planning on standing there all day or were you going to eventually say something?” he drawled, as he closed the book before looking up to see who had intruded on his solitude.
