Let's face the facts here. I think that NYU's Mysterious ATM Bombers -- as a Historal Repository blogger called them, visit my website for a link -- proves a point that I've been trying to make all along, which is that, despite the events of five years ago, right now, the greatest threat to America comes not from outside forces but from within her own borders. On November 17, 2024, as we all know, the worst nuclear attack in history occurred on American soil, and the culprits are still at large. Now, I'm the first in line for finding the monsters who committed that atrocity and bringing them to justice -- and for preventing it from happening again. But the news of late has been dominated not by foreign threats but from Americans. Domestic terrorism, if possible, is an even sicker beast than foreign assailants. It seems like there are an increasing number of people in this country who have no respect for our laws and our system of running things. What have the NYU bombers accomplished in blowing up a few ATMS? Absolutely nothing -- they have hurt their fellow Americans and that is despicable. The raids in New York earlier this spring showed a record number of New Yorkers resisting arrest and living outside of district. Which is breaking the law. I think that some people need to get it through their heads that not everything is going to be handed to them on a silver platter. Most of the refugees from the west are good, hardworking people, but there are a few bad apples who seem to think that because they were evacuated, they are owed something. The government protected you, gave you some of the best sections of various eastern cities to live in. There are housing options. But you can't just go living on welfare checks, expecting the government to take care of you, that's called socialism, and last I checked this was still a capitalist country. Go out and get a job and support yourself. As for the NYU students -- it's unfortunate that your budget has to be cut, but that's a sad fact of life. Worried about losing your housing or your scholarship? Go out and get a job. Honestly. I worked through college, and you can too. As for programs being cut, no new buildings or labs and layoffs? Well, we have to hope that doesn't happen for New York University, but as it is, you just lost the students a new lab, or a good professor. NYU will have to pay to make repairs. They will have to hire more security guards, more sophisticated alarms, and an increased presence of the NYU police department on campus. And as someone who just had to replace and upgrade her security system at home, I'll tell you that's not cheap, and in the end, it needs to be done to protect NYU's students. In other words? The NYU ATM bomber is an idiot who can't think about the long-term consequences of his actions. If you have something to say, go blog about it. That's what the internet is there for. [A heavy sigh. Liz is not on her game today.] After the break, I'll be speaking with the English teacher who made headlines when she banned European literature from her classroom.
