Drying off, Kenzie scrubbed her towel through her hair and swiped her hand across the mirror, clearing off some of the fog. She peered at herself for a moment, only able to see a swatch of her face before grabbing her toothbrush from its holder and brushing her teeth.
She didn't have any sort of particular night-time routine, she didn't care what order she did things in and half the time she'd get into bed and then remember she had to brush her teeth, so she was rather proud of herself for remembering, especially considering the fact that Andy was currently lounging on her bed.
The thought of the other woman made her smile and she finished up, hanging her towel up before switching off the bathroom light. Not bothering to get dressed, Kenzie took a running leap into her bed, bouncing next to Andy. "Miss me?" She grinned, stretching out next to the other woman.
"Gah!" Andy leapt in surprise, bouncing against the other woman as she settled onto the bed. "Jesus, you're frightening aren't you?" she teased, swatting Kenzie's arm. She wasted no time in shoving her headphones aside and wrapping her arms around the other girl to pull her in close.
Pretending to move away, Kenzie pulled a face and reached towards her dresser, shivering slightly. She'd expected a more snuggly reception and was still somewhat damp from her shower. "I can go put some clothes on, if you like." she offered, shaking her head, her hair splashing droplets of water onto Andy. "Don't want you to have nightmares, after all."
"No!" Andy clung to Kenzie when she started to pull away, grabbing the other woman's arm and pulling it back down. "That is a nightmare," she said while laughing and trying to avoid the flying water drops. "A horrible one."
Grinning, Kenzie moved towards the brunette and cuddled up against her, making sure to nuzzle against her with her wet hair. She hadn't told Andy yet that Lindsay had forbidden her from visiting, and she really didn't want to. She liked Andy, probably more than she ought to. She liked being around the other woman, liked sleeping with her, waking up beside her, and she really liked the sex. Given Andy's living situation, she wasn't looking forward to telling her she wasn't "allowed" to be over any more.
"Well," she pulled a face and pretended to consider Andy's request. "I suppose I can stay naked," she grinned and popped her head up, kissing Andy quickly. "Just for you."
"You're so generous," Andy laughed, still clinging tightly. She tugged Kenzie back and moved to lay on top of her, resting her chin on the other woman's chest. "I'm," she tried to act choked up and emotional, inserting dramatic pauses as she spoke, "just touched...that you'd make such a sacrifice!"
Schooling her face, Kenzie tried to resist her body's natural urge to arch up against Andy and failed. "I wouldn't do this for just anyone," she responded, seriously, a smile twitching at the corners of her mouth. "You've gotta be special for me to stay unclothed for." She considered for a moment, then shrugged, her attempt at hiding her grin a failure. "Or really rich."
Andy laughed again and rolled her eyes. "Oh, I'm definitely special then. Because I don't think I can even pretend at that last one. Hey," her eyes flashed playfully before they narrowed and she sat up just enough to stare down the blond. "Are you saying I'm getting tossed aside should some hot richie come along?"
"Hmmm," Kenzie hummed in thought, resisting the urge to pout as Andy pulled away. "Yes," she finally answered, nodding seriously. "Yes, it does." She shrugged, her eyes twinkling. "I'm nothing if not materialistic."
"Well, shite," Andy frowned petulantly, huffing softly. "What about if I go rob a bank?"
Winding her arms around Andy, she gently tugged the girl back. "I could live with that," she said, after a moment's consideration. "Rich and special, never thought I'd be so lucky." She paused and quirked her lips to the side. "Well, you know, potentially rich."
"I don't risk incarceration for anyone," Andy added, raising an eyebrow. She'd made a point of avoiding labelling or allowing whatever it was she and Kenzie had from developing into more than it had been so far. But she couldn't deny that her interest in the other woman hadn't diminished but grown. She wasn't quite sure she wanted to make it into something more yet but she was at least aware of what the situation was.
"True," Kenzie mused, pulling a face at the memory of Lindsay's text. "You risk it every time you come here." She paused for a moment, her face turning serious. "There's something I should tell you," she said, frowning in anticipation of Andy's reaction.
Raising the other eyebrow, Andy lifted her head slightly, watching Kenzie curiously. The change in her attitude hadn't gone unnoticed by her but she couldn't imagine what, in the middle of naked joking, would cause it. "What?"
Kenzie couldn't help going for the joke, even though it wasn't really that funny, and she really did need to tell Andy what Lindsay had said. "I'm pregnant," she managed to keep her face straight, but shook her head before she could continue the ruse. "Lindsay texted me."
"Lindsay tells you that too now?" Andy sighed and hung her head. "Kenz, you need a new job, that's going a wee bit too far, if you ask me."
Running her hands up Andy's back, Kenzie tangled them loosely in her hair and matched her sigh. "She said..." she trailed off, then pushed herself to continue, frowning deeply. "You're not to come around any more. On account of the raid."
"Oh..." It made sense, Andy had to admit, she felt she should have even been able to guess where the conversation was going. It was ridiculous, of course, that she couldn't even be with someone outside her own district. And she knew it was probably crazy but even after the raids she couldn't convince herself to obey by something she thought made no sense. It hadn't occurred to her that even if Kenzie agreed with her there could still be a wrench in the works.
Kenzie's arms tightened around Andy and she hastened to continue. "I wanted to tell her to sod off," she took a breath and pushed herself to continue. "I like you. Like... really like you. And I'll go and talk to whoever it takes or get you a pass or whatever they want, I..." her strength failed her and she faltered, turning her head away from Andy. "I mean... not if you don't want."
Andy reached out and brushed Kenzie's cheek, pressing lightly to get her to turn back toward her. "I like you too," she said, hesitating only for a moment. "You...you think they'd give a bank robber a pass?" She tried to joke, smiling hopefully. "You could always come over to our flat," she added, stroking Kenzie's cheek again.
"Well I wouldn't tell them you were a bank robber." Kenzie moved with Andy's touch, smiling with relief. She felt better, that Andy hadn't immediately shrugged and walked off. Not that she'd really expected the brunette to, but there was always the possibility that Lindsay's order would push their relationship from fun to too many problems. "Wouldn't your flatmates get sick of me? I'm not very..." she grinned quickly, her eyes twinkling slightly. "Quiet."
Andy waved her hand dismissively. "Neither are they," she said, failing to see how that could be a problem. "They can just learn to turn the music up." Her mischievous grin matched Kenzie's twinkle. "Loudly."
Arching up, Kenzie pressed her lips against Andy's, tugging her close. "So, you're not..." she was never good at these sorts of talks. She always wanted to be the sort of person who could just say what was on her mind, but when it came to important things, like Andy, she always found herself at a loss for words.
"Not..." Andy scooted up, pressing against Kenzie happily. She wasn't sure what she wanted yet but she had Kenzie on the same page and would take it.
"Not going to go off and dump me for some..." Kenzie trailed off, unsure of who to suggest she be dumped for. "Some Australian?"
"You're in luck," Andy propped her head up with one hand, stroking Kenzie's arm with the other. "I don't know any Australians." She waited for the reaction before she added, "And I wouldn't even if I did know any. But only so long as you don't dump me for some American." Making a face, Andy did her best to put an American accent on the last word, making it sound as flat and dull as she could.
Smiling, Kenzie leaned towards Andy, careful to at least attempt not to drip water on her. "Well that's good," she responded, wishing she could play it cooler, that her emotions weren't so easily readable. "Australians are sneaky buggers." she arched up, slightly, kissing Andy casually. "And Americans are boring. You're... not."
"Nope. Just poor," Andy grinned and kissed Kenzie back. "But I'd rather be poor than a boring American any day." She paused for a moment, her grin falling slightly, taking on a more serious note. "You sure you're alright with my staying here? I could get you in trouble..." she'd seen the Beast's ridiculous vlogs and she could just imagine that wrath coming down on the adorable blond.
Kenzie nodded, wrapping her arms around Andy and tugging her closer. "I am very alright with you staying here." she hesitated, then attempted a winning smile, which probably ended up looking more nervous. "I mean, you're like... my really good friend." She couldn't stop the words, even though she wanted to, and cringed the moment they were out. She'd wanted to tell Andy, cool, awesome, collected Andy, that she wanted her to be her girlfriend and that was what came out. God, she was a twat.
"Really good friend," Andy repeated, her expression showing every ounce of the bemusement she felt at the statement. She'd thought Kenzie's insistence had meant her interest in her was something definite but a good friend, even if she was a 'really' good one, sounded like the opposite end of things.
Shrugging, Kenzie frowned, her brow furrowing. Just once, she'd like to get something important right on the first try. "Or more?" she tried, hopefully.
"More?" Andy repeated, her turn to be the nervous one. She honestly had no idea what she wanted, bouncing back and forth between the two sides. But she knew she wanted Kenzie and didn't want to hurt her in any way. "Like a really, really good friend?" She teased instead, smiling at the blond.
It was hard to keep her emotions in check, to keep the nerves off her face and she thought she did a good job of it. "Or, like a really, really good girlfriend?" She suggested, anxiously, a part of her wondering why they even had to have this conversation. They were having fun, yeah, but Kenzie needed to be sure; she didn't want to risk her job for nothing.
It felt weird to Andy to think of someone beside Astrid or Lucien taking up a permanent sort of role in her life. It made her nervous but she knew the idea of the other option made her just as nervous, which counted for something she was sure. "I could try," she said, feeling as if there should be a swelling score or something to mark the occasion. "But you might have to settle for just good girlfriend?"
Kenzie didn't even try to keep her emotions off her face this time, grinning widely and wrapping her arms around Andy's neck, tugging her close and kissing her soundly. "I think I can manage that."
