"Oh, I--" Naomi was taken aback by the offer. She wasn't hungry, but refusal of the sudden act of kindness seemed terribly rude.
"That sounds like a great idea!" she said, genuine appreciation for the notion of opening a diner filling her face, and she gathered the smaller half of the sandwich up into her hands to cradle over her salad as she spoke. "Yes, of course, other than the name painted on the window, this place leaves a little something to be desired. But with a good theme, I'm sure you could have a real successful business on your hands."
Naomi ventured a bite of the sandwich, but stopped midway to her lips. "I didn't order the salad because I'm cheap, you know. I'll pay you for this." And proceeded to bite off the corner of the steak that had been poking off the end of the bread.
