Who: Officer Cody Williams and Duke Marquez
What: The Precinct hold a neighbourhood demo of the new robots; Cody is stuck on security and a prime target for hassling from a local nogoodnik.
When: Tuesday afternoon
Where: Outside the 81st Precinct, District 3
Rating: PG
The crowd was listening attentively as the precinct's public relations rep spoke on a small podium, listing off technical details and rhetoric on the 'safety of the community'. Some people seemed enthralled, others heavily skeptical, but Officer Cody just seemed outright bored. This was probably because he was stationed on the far side of the crowd, nearly out of earshot of the speech and definitely out of sight of the demo robot on display.
Instead he was left hanging out by a street sign, kicking at tufts of weeds in the sidewalk with the toe of his shoe. With a glance over his shoulders he discreetly pulled his iHolo out of his pocket, peeked at it in his palm, and responded to a message with a sly smile. Apparently he was finding ways to keep himself entertained at his post.
