Who: Pierson Alders, Teddy Lupin

Where: The Leaky Cauldron
Status: In-progress

[The Leaky Cauldron isn't one of Pierson's favorite places. He can think of a lot of other places he'd rather be--home, Hogwarts, the Three Broomsticks in Hogsmeade for a start. But when he'd requested meeting the person who was advertising a flat to rent in London, the Leaky Cauldron was the place that they'd agreed on.

Pierce places his order--nothing much, just a mug of drink for him--and waits.]

	[Teddy isn't late. For once. Setting his clocks all ahead by an hour has, somehow, finally worked for him and he steps into the Leaky Cauldron right on time. He isn't sure who he's looking for, but from the replies he's exchanged, Teddy has a fair idea that the young man at the counter would be the first person to ask.] Hullo. Pierson, is it? 	[Pierson glances up as the other man steps up to him. Gives him the once-over. And then he smiles, nodding to Teddy.] Pierce is fine. And you're Lupin, I take it? [He gestures to the next spot over. Go on, Teddy, take a seat, have a pint!] (Reply to this)

	[Teddy doesn't hesitate to take the seat and flashes his potential flatmate a grin before he quickly places an order.] Teddy works a little better. [Lupin sounds more like his father to him, anyway.] All right, then? No trouble getting here? (Reply to this)

Finally it clicks.]

You and I were at Hogwarts at the same time, weren't we? [Rhetorical question.] Gryffindor, weren't you?

[He'd made it his -business- to know who most people there were, if only the name to the face. After all, it'd been on his head to watch out for Callie, and he couldn't let her befriend the wrong types without his being lectured by their parents later on.

Teddy Lupin had been an odd case, if he remembered correctly.]

So what's got you looking for a flatmate right now, anyway?

[Teddy nods, but he only vaguely recognizes Pierce. He thinks he remembers the boy being several years below him, but if Pierson hadn't mentioned it, it's likely he would have never made a connection.]

I just got back from Ireland. Thought I'd move closer to Diagon, but rent's a bugger...

[He trails off with a shrug, then sips from the mug that was recently placed in front of him.]

And yourself?

	[For a split second, Pierce pulls a face. But then it's swept away, replaced by his usual demeanor.] Let's just say my family is very set in their ways. I'm looking to see what life is like outside of their expectations. [That's not to say that he plans to leave them entirely. He just. [Teddy adjusts his hat and nods again. He's no stranger to expectations and the problems they cause -- it's part of the reason he's so determined to live on his own away from his family's households.]

Well, if you want to take me up on the flatmate request, I promise not to expect anything out of you. Just s' long as you don't expect much from me.

[He -does- like to be lazy.]

	[Teddy manages an affronted expression and puts a hand to his chest in dismay.] I dunno about that, mate. I dunno how the grate is. If the fire isn't warm enough, I might need some cuddling. [Teddy's brought some parchment with the figures for rent and utilities. All of the original numbers are for Muggle pounds, but he's scribbled in the gold equivalent. He slides it over and taps the scribbled numbers.]

Not bad, actually. Awful if you want to pull it off on your own without a career job, but...

[He shrugs, letting the numbers speak for themselves.]

The place is on the muggle side, which brings down the price. Dunno if you mind that much? I can handle all the payments if you'd like?

[A Muggle place? That's getting a little bit too close to the gutter for his taste. For a moment, Pierce struggles with indecision, though for all appearances, he seems to be simply studying the numbers on the parchment before him.

He wants to leave the family manor for a few months, certainly. But is he willing to hobknob with the Muggles to do so?

Instead of making a choice, Pierce voices a question.]

How close is it to Diagon Alley, do you know?

	[Teddy watches Pierce's expression from the corner of his eye. He's concerned that the idea of it being on the Muggle side might be disagreeable.] Walking distance, certainly. Three blocks, I think? [He's curious, and follows up almost immediately with a question of his own.] D'you have work lined up in Diagon? (Reply to this)

[The flat is easily within his spending allowance (of course, "spending allowance" in this case means how much money he has of his own saved away just in case his father were to for some reason cut him off). And Pierce has seen how difficult it is to find a flat in Diagon Alley itself.

Not to mention, of course, that living with somebody like Teddy Lupin would deflect a fair bit of suspicion from him should anything -unsavory- happen...

Pierce nods to himself. Decision made, he focuses his attention to Teddy and his questions.]

I haven't, but money is not a force at play, for me.

I could do three blocks.

Teddy isn't going to say he's surprised. From what little he remembers about Pierson, he knows the younger man was in Slytherin. Even in this day Slytherin usually equates pureblood, and if he's from one of the older families...

He's not one to pass any immediate judgment, though, given his grandmother's lineage and how fond he is of her.]

Great!

[Teddy slaps down another piece of parchment, this one with the floor plan -- he's come prepared for once.]

Like the advert says, it's two bedrooms, then the kitchen and main room's connected like so. Comes fully stocked with ice cream, too, if you're keen on that.

[It's a product of his newest temp work and Teddy plans to keep the ice box full of the stuff.]

	[What do you mean, he's -that- sort? Aw, come on, Teddy, he promises he's not going to go around throwing gold at every opportunity! Pierce peers at the floor plan as Teddy slaps it down. It doesn't look bad... plenty of privacy. The part about the ice cream catches him by surprise, though. Pierce looks up, surprised.] Ice cream? (Reply to this)

[Aha. Thaaaaat explains why there's going to be so much ice cream in the flat. Pierce takes a swig of his drink, the vestiges of a smirk on his face.]

Well, I suppose if you're throwing in the ice cream...

Then the two of us seem to have reached a deal, so long as you want me as a flatmate. Although I'd like to take a look at the flat before giving you my final confirmation.

	Brilliant! [Teddy lifts his drink in toast for a moment before finishing off the drink -- he's been sipping steadily on it the entire meeting.] When's best for you, then? Thursday works.

[Teddy rests his chin on his hand, considering his options. He's thought about asking James to help him move in, but as much as he thinks the younger boy is a riot, he doesn't exactly want to scare off his new flatmate -- he'll just focus on arranging his stuff on Thursday.

He reaches for the parchment with the numbers on it and, withdrawing a quill charmed to retain ink without drying out, scribbles down the address.]

Just send me an owl if anything comes up, right?

	[Pierce would think James was hysterical. And then be entertained to no end trying to make the boy's head spin. Regardless, he nods and takes the parchment, climbing to his feet and extending a hand towards Teddy to shake.] I'll do that. I'll be looking forward to seeing the place Thursday. (Reply to this)

	I'll try to make sure it doesn't look like a pigsty before you arrive. [He takes the proffered hand as he stands up as well, shaking it firmly. He's really looking forward to the move now that the flatmate situation is likely settled.
