"Erm, since forever, I suppose." Cale tilted his head to one side, sizing Madeleine up for a moment. He hadn't considered that she might be Muggle-born. She seemed too confident about everything for that.
"And you?" he asked, curious now. "Were you prepared for the Sorting, or was this all new for you?"

James couldn't believe he was being ignored.
Well. He could, but he didn't want to.
This really was fairly new territory for him. Until now he had by and large mainly hung 'round with his cousins and various extended members of his family and friends of the family. All of that lot were fairly easy to deal with.
He needed reinforcements.
Peering down the table, James tried to spot his cousin or Teddy. He couldn't see Teddy (which meant nothing -- Teddy might be fooling around to the point that James wouldn't know him even if he saw him), but he did spot Fred near the end of the table. Too far off to be of much help.
James narrowed his eyes. He'd just have to take matters into his own hands.
He would bide his time until there was food to accidentally splatter at Winters.
