Madeleine winced, even as her mother assured the boy's mum that she needn't apologize, as it hadn't been his fault at all. Lies, she thought venomously, sneaking another glare at him.
But then Corey was rounding on her again, and Madeleine was forced to put all her effort into giving her mother her best innocent look. "Uh, hi, Mum. I made a friend already?"
Corey wasn't being dissuaded. "Madeleine, what have I told you about watching where you're going? You could have hurt somebody!"
But as her mother lectured her, Madeleine's thoughts turned to revenge.
She was going to have to show that boy up once they got to school. He was not going to get away with insulting her and knocking her down so easily...!
