He paused a bit, regarding her expression, and then pinched the bridge of his nose.
"I'm teaching, aren't I?" he asked, running a hand over his face and sighing slightly. "You try so hard to get away from it in your free time and it just slides right back into place, doesn't it?"
He paused, shaking his head. "Let's... talk about something else, if I even can." He paused. "How has... everything else been going?" he said, somewhat weakly.
Darl waved it off. "I don't doubt it," he said, wondering if he'd given the wrong impression. "And he is doing remarkably well for a boy of his age and stage..." he paused. "Well I assume, anyway - I don't know that I've ever taught anyone his age before. Frankly, I was surprised when I was asked to."
Surprised, and a tad eager about it, to say the least.
"But you're right," he said with a nod. "It is a useful skill for him to have, in his current living situation.
