"Have I got enough now, Lyla?" Miguel said, hanging upside down from a web-line that was attached to the ceiling of an electrical store's stock room. He was looking down at a pile of components and wiring, and a few weird-looking machines that apparently contained things that he needed to remodel if he was going to make this work.
"Not yet, no," the foot-tall hologram said. Lyla was upside down as well, and manifesting just far enough from Miguel's face that he could focus easily on her. "You have all of the supplies you will need if you're going to create a power source for the apartment building, but it will be too powerful for the existing wiring in the building and there is a very real fire-risk."
"So we'll build a transformer as well, what's the problem?" Miguel asked as he flipped down to the ground and then started looking for some way of carrying all the stuff. Obviously that was the wrong question to ask if he'd been looking for a quick answer, since Lyla then spent the next few minutes detailing exactly what the problem was.
"We'll sort it out, Lyla, don't worry. I'm a genius, and you're you. It'll be fine."
The optimism was odd for Miguel, but then again, he'd met up with a man called Dan earlier who'd provided him with coffee for the first time since he arrived in this time and he finally had something interesting to do. And he'd just spotted a whole line of shopping trolleys. Wheeled ones, so retro. Not a maglev device in sight. The fact that they were all chained up didn't bother him in the slightest since his talons made short work of the metal. Then he took his trolley back to his stockpile and filled it up.
Once he had everything shoved into the trolley, he pushed it out of the store and turned towards the apartment building, busy working on Lyla's transformer problem in his head. And that was why he almost slammed into someone with his trolley.
