"Mind if we 'ave a chat later?" It was a simple question and the initial exchange with Lenne had gone smoothly. They'd agreed to meet up and speak later after a brief glance over her shoulder, surveying who was around, and a low "Rather not talk about it out 'ere.". Lenne's room was selected as the better option for privacy's sake, whereas Fang and Vanille were bunked together, and a time was agreed upon easily. It was a relief that the singer was so open and willing to be flexible with these things. Especially, after the fact that Fang had admitted an interest in Guardianship to her. Thankfully though, the hunter had managed to craft the wording of the admission in such a manner to not give away the reality that she was already a Guardian, much like she had done in her discussion with Beatrix, shortly after arriving back from Oerba. Crafting sentences so that people would be likely to take them one way, while still leaving the meaning open wasn't something Fang was fond of, but a skill she had regardless of her opinion on such things. That occurred in the morning. It had earned a mildly curious look from a person or two that noticed it but nothing and no one seemed particularly concerned with the matter, which was good. The reality of it was, as much as any of them might get along with the White SeeDs, they were still their own group on some level, knowing one another before boarding this ship and a level of paranoia lingering probably surprised no one. Fang was used to adapting, was good at it even, so she'd managed to get into a regular enough repertoire of practice, sparring and chatting with a person here or there. An easy smile and confidence to spare wasn't anything new for her when outside of dire situations and it served her well. Regardless, her day had been spent with the normal activities up until that point, even if she would seem a bit distracted. Not enough to throw off plans or training, but her gaze would linger on objects she wasn't really looking at when not actively engaged and falling out of conversations, or not even picking up on them unless prodded was easy for her today. There were more important things right now, even if she did wish to help provide a sense of normalcy for some. The topic of conversation would be complicated and deeply personal, perhaps it'd be something Lenne wouldn't be willing to talk about at all and if that were the case, Fang would obviously respect her wishes but... It seemed like no one else would be good for this conversation. Lightning she didn't even want to be around, Snow and Sazh were distracted and most likely distraught with the current state of their loved ones and honestly, she couldn't blame them. If that had been Vanille... A vile, angry, bitter and nearly sickening feeling filled any hollow part she might have had instantly and all Fang could manage was a balling of her fists so tightly that her knuckles turned white, while her jaw shifted, then locked. But Vanille wasn't a part of that group, and she wouldn't be. Fang wouldn't allow it. There was no way, come hell or high water, that she'd ever, ever let that happen and the fact of the matter was, she did have a say in it right now. That knowledge helped to calm her some, gave minor relief to the tension building up in her mind and body. It was a good thing too because going into the conversation she wanted to with Lenne, in that state, would give far too much away. However, when the appropriate time rolled around, Fang excused herself, checked in with Vanille briefly and then headed down to where Lenne's room was. Pausing a moment outside the door, Fang shifted, running over things in her mind before a huff of air was let out. Well, it was now or never, right? With that, a hand lifted, a heavy knock rapped against the door, her strength unintentionally causing the door to shake in its frame, before waiting for the other woman to open it. |
