Katara tried not to stare at Tyler as she assessed his emotional state. She knew people often liked to be alone with their sorrows, and she didn’t want to make him uncomfortable. However, she could practically feel his distress. She was glad she could try and help take his mind off it a little when she inquired what other uses with the computer were.

Research? That must mean there was another vast library, except it was over the internet. “Are there a lot of things on here you can research?” Like possible ways to escape a Planet that’s imprisoning you… Katara thought to herself. Then he demonstrated how to type and print. It was just like a vastly more advanced printing press that a person could do themselves. “Wow. That was so fast!” It was amazing to her, and the text was so crisp and clean, and the ink didn’t smear when she touched it.

“Well, yes. We have mail, but not like computer mail. We send mail through the mail systems or by hawks. It takes a lot longer than this seems to. This is all so amazing, though. I’d never dreamed that such technology could exist.”
