Tonks, if you please ([info]tonks_please) wrote in [info]mirage_rpg,

Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Entry tags:astor bennett, complete, day 29, faith lehane, illyana rasputin, marcus cole, mercy thompson, nymphadora tonks, sam winchester, severus snape, violet baudelaire

WHO: Tonks and Illyana, Marcus, Astor, Faith, Mercy, Violet, Snape, Sam, Andy (posting order)
WHAT: Snowball fight!
WHEN: Day 29, afternoon
WHERE: The snow forts
RATING: PG at most, I should think
STATUS: Complete

After showing Mercy around, she'd had a little bit of a run in with someone over the journals. But Tonks was nothing if not resilent, and she didn't let him hurt her feelings for long. Instead, she decided that exactly what she needed was some physical exercise. So she changed into some warmer clothing, swapping her normal t-shirt for a thick sweater, and then, she was off.

There were people there already, so Tonks picked a fort nearly at random and crouched behind it. The witch then spent quite a few moments simply packing snow into snowballs, but now she was ready. She had quite a pile to work with. Showing that she wasn't always clumsy, she clambered to the top of her chosen fort and cupped her hands around her mouth so her voice would project further. Of course, she could use magic, but that seemed like cheating somehow.

"Hey, guys! Let's get this going on!" As usual, her voice was full of good cheer and high spirits. And she immediately had to duck down as people from both sides flung snowballs at her. She had been a bit of an idiot, making herself such an easy target and then taunting everyone. Her uncharacteristic nimbleness went away very quickly under the rain of snowballs, and she half-fell half-slid back to her pile of snowballs. It was turning into a pretty fun fight, she thought. She was having a good time.

The sight of all the snow forts outside her window in the morning was too much of a draw for Illyana. She'd never seen that many in one area, ever. So she was more than happy to run outside, clad in the best possible snow gear she could dream up and start amassing an arsenal. She had staked out a fort in what she thought would be a good defensible position. Training with the New Mutants still came in handy, she was pleased to note. The group would love this.

She heard a woman's voice shout out, and, with a huge grin across her face, she popped up over the edge of her snow fort and let fly a snowball in the direction of the voice. She caught a glimpse of color as the woman ducked below the walls of her fort. "Heads up!" Illyana called out to her. "Best not make yourself a target if you can't take the snow!" She lobbed another few balls in the woman's direction, then turned and began to retaliate at the people who'd decided she'd make a good target as well.

Marcus was in exactly the right kind of mood for this kind of fun. He was feeling carefree and relatively relaxed. More than at any time, perhaps, since he had come to Mirage, he was not in such a big hurry to find a way to escape. When he had spotted the snow forts during his morning stroll, he had made a point to drop by whenever they might be in use.

He was delighted, therefore, after lunch, when he wandered past and saw a full-sized battle underway. Picking a side at random, he ducked behind a fort to assess the stockpile of ammunition. Hefting a good-sized ball of snow shot, he grinned widely when he recognized the voice of the foolish person standing up and asking to get hit. Standing up, he waved briefly and lobbed his snowball straight at her.

"Well, well! On opposite sides, for once! Let the best one win!"

Immediately, the Ranger dropped down behind his shelter as several icy orbs whizzed his way.

Astor woke up and looked over at the clock between her bed and Cody's empty one. "Whoa, I slept in way late!" she said, a huge grin spreading over her lips as she sat up and stretched, yawning. Her mother never let her sleep in that late, especially on a school day, which Astor felt like almost every day was.

She got out of bed and went to the window to look out and was only marginally disappointed when she still saw snow. But then, as she looked a little harder, she could see people in the distance throwing snowballs at one another and playing around near a couple of forts that looked like they, too, were made out of snow. So there were kids to play with!

After the fastest shower she thought she'd ever taken in her life, Astor got dressed and ran outside, panting as she went, excited to get to play. As she got closer, she slowed down and then finally stopped, frowning slightly. They weren't kids. They were grown ups. Astor's heart sank in disappointment. Grown ups didn't like kids around, if Dex and her Mom were anyone to go by. They always said that they were talking about adult things and she should go off and play with Cody for a while. So, she stood back for a moment and watched, a little jealous and wanting to join, but not sure she'd be allowed, since she was still just a kid.

Well, that had been just about the weirdest thing she'd ever had happen to her. And not being grabbed by the Planet either. To say that Snape had creeped her out would be an understatement. She wasn't the sort of person who creeped out easily, either, but he'd just known too much about her.

After her disturbing meeting with him, she needed some way to relax and let off some steam. So she wandered around the grounds, having found her room without too much trouble. There was an odd sense of deja vu about this place, but she wasn't going to think about it.

The giggling and shouting of the snowball fight was loud, easily audible from very far away. As she got closer, she saw a kid standing alone. It made her feel strange somehow to see the longing, sad look on her face as she watched to fun. Quickly, she leaned down and scooped up a handful of snow, tossing it lightly at the girl with a laugh.

"Hey, kid! Think fast! Come on, let's go do this!" She spoke to Astor, and then took off toward one of the forts. She dodged snowballs all the way, laughing and realizing that she was actually having fun. It was strange, but true.

After she had come to the realization that she really was stuck on some lonesome planet, then walked through the emotions she felt like it really was time to get out and get some air to her head. Mercy had felt like there was a very fat man sitting on her as she lay on her bed.

Now however it was time to try to get rid of both the fat man and some cobwebs. She made her way outside and took a deep breath, in the distance there was a huge commotion of chatter and laughter. “The others.” She said to herself and felt like she was trapped in a winter episode of lost. She laughed and fallowed the sound.

She came upon the sight of her new friend Tonks slipping and falling down into the fort, she chuckled the pink haired woman was certainly full of life but could do with a better pair of boots. Mercy ducked behind a tree then bent scooping up some snow in her bare hands.

Making a quick eye of things setting Tonks, who had just popped up again, in her sights as her target. She launched the snowball into the air and instead of hitting the girl it zoomed passed her head and smacked a brunette woman square in the face. “Oh shit!” Mercy laughed and tried her best to become one with the tree.

Now this was Violet's idea of fun as she set up her snowball shooting canon, ok so it stuck out but for once she was not caring. She aimed and fired as a shot landed against Marcus,"Reload!" as she dove behind a fort with some of the smaller weapons she had stashed beforehand.

(yes Violet is a nerd, even with snowball battles).

Snape stomped furiously through the snow, seeking the naughty witch that had pelted him with a snowball whilst he sat sulking in the bar then run off. Snape, unable to let the affront to his honour go unrevenged, had followed close on her heels, but had lost her on the snow-field when she had run on ahead. He now found himself standing in the middle of a large space that had been set up for a snowball fight. Many people ran back and forth, now cowering behind forts, now popping up to lob icy globs at one another. The entire enterprise was ridiculous, and Snape would normally not be caught anywhere near such useless frivolity. But Tonks was here... somewhere. The wizard scanned the landscape carefully, looking for the brat's distinctive brightly-coloured hair.

Sam had told Andy he'd go outside and throw some snowballs around but that didn't mean he agreed to join in on what looked like a gigantic snowball war. He stayed off to the side for the moment, watching the going ons as people played in the huge snow forts that had been built. Sam admitted that they did look kind of cool but for now he was content to stand off to the side, just watching. He scanned the grounds for any familiar faces.

Sam had agreed to meet Andy for the snowball fight. Gray was safe with Jack and Ianto was off his back for the time being. He'd eaten breakfast, had coffee...yeah all there was left in his not-quite-routine was to bundle up and head out. So that was exactly what he did.

Trudging out into the snow, as Andy approached, he could see that there were plenty of people already out there and he paused only momentarily when he noticed Snape amongst the bunch. Hopefully, they could avoid a live and in-person confrontation. Or, if not, Sam was huge and Andy didn't mind being called a coward if the situation called for it. In any case, he hadn't let his disagreement with Tonks stop him - even if the two of them had fixed it before he'd left with Gray - so why should he let the same thing with Snape stop him? He shouldn't, he decided. They were both adults and they could handle being in the same place at the same time, he figured.

Speaking of Sam, he noticed the other man standing off to the side a little and grinned. He leaned down and scooped up some snow, making a large, bulky, and pretty badly misshapen snowball which he lobbed forcefully at the back of Sam's head, laughing loudly. "You gonna play or just stand there, Sasquatch?" he teased.

Alright, no one had ever accused Tonks of being anything but a bit of a brat. After being hit from several different angles, she decided that she needed more people in this fight. Sure, it was fun as it was, but more people would make it just that much more awesome. So she quickly made a plan and set it into motion.

With a quick wave to Marcus and a laughing promise to get him later, she gathered up her snowballs and cast a freezing charm on them. Then, she took off. She was only gone for a couple of minutes, really, but when she came back, she had people hot on her heels. Her plan had worked... now she just had to keep them from killing her. See, she'd run through the main building, pelting snowballs at each and every person she'd come across.

Panting, she ran up to the fort she'd been at before, waving jauntily to Marcus. Several snowballs went whizzing by her head, but she dodged them. "I think Snape's gonna kill me!" She announced in general, and in fact, the dark-robed wizard was hot on her heels. She wasn't too concerned, though. Surely, he wouldn't resort to homicide in front of all these witnesses. She hoped.

"Now, let's see about that, then!" She called across to her lover Marcus, picking up a hunk of snow, compacting it into a ball, and tossing it at his face. Soon, she had several more in the air, aimed for people all over. She wasn't really too picky about where they went, though she did give her new friend Mercy a mock-dirty look and toss one her way. Just because it had hit the dark haired girl instead of her didn't change the fact that it had been launched her way in the first place. Snape, though she knew it was dangerous, she pretty much ignored.

The girl she'd first pelted a ball at popped up again, her pink hair making her an easy target. She took off running, and Illyana turned to follow her path with a barrage of snowballs. She noticed a girl off to the side of the fight, sort of hanging back, and another, older girl with her. "Don't just stand there, you'll get pelted for sure!" To prove her point, she sent several snowballs in their direction.

The others on the field lobbed snowballs in her direction, and Illyana shrieked with delight and shock as some of them struck her shoulders and torso. She ducked behind the fort she'd claimed for herself, quickly crafting a few new snowballs, then came back around, making herself a target once again as she flung her ammo with abandon at some of the boys and the older man that had come out to play as well.

Marcus was having a great time. The snowball fight was great physical exercise, and he found himself laughing as he ducked and dodged, occasionally flinging a snowball at whoever happened to cross his line-of-sight. After barely dodging a volley from Violet's snoball-cannon and getting smacked in the chest by a shot from Tonks, the Ranger decided to focus on defense. Quickly extending his Minbari fighting pike, Marcus planted his feet and had himself some parrying practice, swinging deftly at any missiles that came his way, deflecting them or, more frequently, causing them to explode in little puffs of white crystal.

Astor yelped in surprise when she was hit from behind with a snowball and laughed as a dark-haired girl - maybe not quite a grownup? - laughed and ran by, shouting at her to join in before taking off toward one of the forts. That was all that Astor needed to be set in motion. Dodging the numerous assaults of flying snowballs and brushing past a really tall guy who was also standing off to the side, Astor followed the other woman, squealing when a blonde woman hit her with a snowball, shouting that if she just stood there, she'd be pelted for sure.

Ducking behind the fort with the other woman, all smiles and excited to be included, Astor started packing snow together sloppily, not ever having made snowballs before. "I wasn't sure I'd be allowed since it looks like mostly grown ups playing," she said breathlessly to Faith. "I'm Astor. And you shouldn't hit people when they're not looking," she giggled, tossing one of the badly made snowballs at the other woman as if to prove her point.

She peeked up over the top of the fort and, remembering seeing another girl who might be close to her age ducking behind the other fort, she shouted out to her, "BOMBS AWAY!" and threw a large loosely-packed snowball over the other fort's wall, hoping to get her but ducking down before she could see if she had.

Faith quickly darted over to the nearest fort. She was only exposed for a couple of moments, but it was enough for her to get completely pummelled. Laughing, she shook the snow off, and brushed the substance out of her hair. It felt good to just play, he had to admit. Grinning, she turned to the girl who she had dragged over. "Someone tells you you can't do something cause you're younger than them, you can tell them to screw themselves." She was never one to mince words, or worry about if her audiance was ready for such language. "How's it going? I'm Faith."

Thinking that it would please the girl to be treated as an equal, she stuck out her hand for a handshake. It was quick, though, because soon enough a large snowball hit her in the face. Her eyes promised quick revenge as she turned to face the girl who had thrown it at her. A pale brunette, apparently, and now she was going to make her regret this. She sent a smirk over to her. "Oh, it's ON, baby!"

Giggling, she grabbed a huge handful of snow and tossed it towards the slender brunette. Another one soon followed, but then, she stopped entirely. A tall, pale man had come into the snowball fight, apparently focused on the chick with the weird hair. She smirked, recognizing Snape easily, and her dark eyes turned to him. Time to get some revenge for freaking her out earlier, she decided.

Mercy's hiding only lasted for a little while before she quickly begged the planet to send her a sling shot, with her new tool in hand darted towards one of the forts, dogging snow balls left and right as well as shaking off the ones that hit her snow going back to the ground where it belonged, she laughed along the way.

Once in safety again started firing as many snowballs as she could in all directions, hitting a few good looking dark haired young guys. She tossed a few lighter ones at the younger folks with her hands, not to over do it with them and made herself an easy target so they could get her back.

Mercy's hands were frozen but she didn't mind she hadn't had any fun in such a long time so this was making up for it in full. Mercy crept up on Tonks from behind then put a little lump of snow down her shirt and patted her on the back where the show was. "Great fight buddy!" She smirked and took off out of the fort once more then got nailed by more snowy bullets. "Oh crap!"

She wiped the snow from her face then looked for the girl she had accidentally hit earlier, instead she came between her and an odd man who looked like an angry lamp post. She eyed Faith then turned to Snape "Hey man cheer up!" She smirked and launched a huge lump of snow at him with her sling shot.

Violet let rip a howl of pure glee as she fired off another round from her snowball cannon. For once science was working in her favor and she was grinning like mad as she aimed a round at Marcus. That was when she whipped out her other new idea, a slingshot perfect for snowballs and let rip a volley at the older dark haired woman along with Astor.

Snape stood in the midst of the mayhem, searching for Tonks. Though he wasn't oblivious to the danger of the snowball fight's chaos, he didn't actually believe that anyone would target him, since he hadn't given any sign that he was there to participate. Gazing about, he found he didn't know most of the people there, nor did he care to. Anyone whose tastes ran to this sort of nonsense was not likely to be the sort to be his kindred spirit.

Finally he spotted his naughty prey. How did she ever expect to hide from him with that sickeningly-bright hair? Raising his wand to point in her direction, he had just opened his mouth to utter the beginning of a particularly embarrassing revenge spell, when he was struck from two directions by snowballs. He barely had time to cough and splutter before he was struck again and again. Spinning around, he futilely attempted to avoid attack, but couldn't spot his attackers, his eyes covered with ice-dust.

Sam was content to just stand off to the side. That is, until Andy snuck up behind him and slammed a snowball into the back of his head. Sam let out a loud gasp, eyes going wide as snow went down the back of his neck. "Andy, you are SO dead!" He yelled at his friend, leaning down to rapidly scoop up snow, laughing instead of being angry about it.

A young girl raced past him and for a moment, Sam was momentarily distracted. Then snowballs came from nowhere and three connected with him. Sam fell face first into the snow. He rolled onto his back, laughing up at the sky. "I thought you were supposed to be on my side! Traitor!" he yelled at Andy, not even sure if he was still within hearing distance.

Andy ducked down and tried to get away from the onslaught of snowballs being tossed in his direction, looking as though they were mainly aimed at Sam and the little girl who had been standing off to the side near him. He laughed harder and threw another one at Sam before taking off. "Can't be on your side if you're gonna be useless and just stand there, gigantor!" he shouted playfully over his shoulder before ducking behind a fort to make a batch of snowballs.

There was a young girl in there and he had to duck again as another snowball soared over the edge. "Hey, sorry, cool if I hide out in here with you?" he asked. He noticed that she'd created a slingshot or some kind of launching device. "Oh man, that's awesome!" he said, awestruck.

Poking his head up over the edge of the fort, Andy smirked. "While we're young, Sam!" he called and threw another snowball at him as if to prod him to hurry up and join in.

Tonks looked at Snape, slightly alarmed. She was nearly sure that the red spots high on his cheekbones weren't from the cold. He spent enough of his time angry that she'd had a good dose of it, and it was obviously aimed at her. Still, she waved, and then giggled as Mercy and Faith both snowballed him mercilessly.

"Wotcher, Severus!" She called out cheerily, deciding to leave him to the other two girls. A couple of snowballs Marcus' way, aimed surprisingly well, and then a few more just randomly thrown around. When she saw Andy, she made sure to chuck quite a few his way with a cheerful wave.

With so many people around, it was difficult to tell who was aiming at whom. That was the best way to have a snowball fight, in Illyana's opinion. Still, picking a target was key to having fun. She looked around, peering over the top of her snow fort. Some of the faces looked familiar, from seeing people in the library or the restaurant, but she didn't actually know anyone.

Not that you had to know someone to attack. Her eyes fell on the older girl who'd brought the child into the fray, and she grinned evilly. "Best watch your back!" she called as she ran out into the middle of the battlefield and hurled a couple of snowballs at the girl. It was attacking on two fronts, since the little girl was pelting her with snowballs as well, but all was fair in a snowball fight.

Marcus was having a wonderful time. He ducked snowballs launched from Violet's cannon, he deflected a few sent his way by Tonks, and he ducked just in time to avoid a couple that came out of nowhere. Looking about the battlefield to see if he had met the rest of the combatants, he noticed the psychotic woman that had tried to rape him one lovely day a couple of resorts back. She looked a little different, but he was in no hurry to alert her to his presence. Watching to see who she was targeting, the Ranger laughed when he saw Severus Snape go down in a hail of icy artillery. The man was such a grouch. He almost deserved it. Marcus smiled and waved to anyone that looked like they were having fun, then threw a snowball at them.

Astor looked simultaneously baffled and amused by Faith's proclamation that she should tell people to screw themselves. She snorted out a giggle, mainly because she was so accustomed to hiding gigglefits over things like that - her Mom would only yell at her if she was there to see.

She shook Faith's hand and smiled. "Nice to meet ya," she replied.

There was another onslaught of snowballs from all sides and Astor shrieked, giggling, as she started launching them back with abandon. She hit a dark-haired woman she'd never even noticed when she'd first joined in and laughed. "Heads up," she called out, grinning widely. Next, she took aim at the blonde when she thought she had a clear shot, and then the younger girl.

Popping her head up over the edge to peek, she noticed that the big tall guy was laying on his back just looking up at the sky. Not even a challenge. "Look out below!" she sang out and threw an oversized snowball in his direction. It had been heavy, though, and instead she'd managed to hit the guy dressed in all black. Her eyes went wide, because he didn't look terribly happy to be included and she didn't want the grownups to send her out of the game, now; she was having lots of fun. "Whoops! Sorry, mister!" she called out to him and ducked down again behind the safety of the snow fort's wall.

Faith glanced over at Mercy, and decided on the spot that she liked her style. She wasn't even all that worried anymore about the fact that she'd tossed a snowball right at her face. After all, this was a snowball fight. It was bound to happen. And anyone who tossed snowballs at the weird Skeletor guy was alright with her.

She turned to giggle at Astor as the girl ducked down after heaving a snowball at Snape. "Living dangerous, girl? I think I like you already?" She grinned at her, shot Snape a bit of a look, and then turned back to Mercy.

Or that was the plan, anyway. She noticed someone looking at her, though, someone dark-haired and, yeah, actually rather handsome in his own way. But he was giving her a look like she'd just killed his pet kitten or something. Whatever, people here had issues. Except Mercy and Astor, they seemed cool enough. She gave Marcus a dirty look, tossed a large snowball his way, and then finished turning toward Mercy. Except then she was interupted once more, by the pretty blonde girl. Being hit from all sides by snowballs was fun, and Faith made sure to give as good as she got.

Finally, though, the dark-haired Slayer finished her walk over to Mercy. It had been pretty crazy, and she was still fending off attacks from all sides, but she was side by side with the tattoed woman soon enough. "Let's get him, girl. Ready?" She moved to stand beside the other girl, winked at her, and scooped up snow. It wasn't long before several snowballs filled the air, all headed toward Severus Snape.

There were so many great targets and everyone was having a great time, if things were like this around here all the time it would be easy to forget her troubles back home. Right now however her mind was on one thing and that was sending rapid fire back to those who had sent snowballs her way. She let out a bit of a squeal here and there as cold water and snow dripped down her face and neck getting under her clothing. “Oh hell that's cold!” She shivered.

She traded snowballs with Marcus, the blond girl she never knew and once more towards her friend Tonks sticking her tongue out quickly to her. Her arms took hits, legs, and sides as she attempted to escape the arsenal.

Mercy shook her head wiping snow out of her eyes as she had it pelted square into her face. She side stepped another attack and caught a snowball that was headed straight for Astor who wasn't looking.
“Careful lil chicka, older kids can be big weenies!” she laughed and handed the girl the chunk of show she'd just caught. “Make sure to aim high, rail em don't be scared, anyone says anything to you tell me and I'll bite em.” She smirked.

After railing the grouchy looking man in a hail of snow she stopped for just a moment to catch her breath, all the running and dodging was starting to take a toll on her. Mercy found herself next to the woman who's name she took to be Faith, pretty she thought. Giving the other a nod she formed a few more quick lumps of snow. “Ready! The ghost of Christmas yet to come is going down!” Using her slingshot she sent two snowballs at a time towards the man, then two more almost making them come out of nowhere becoming very fast at making them, her aim was almost flawless.

Violet tossed Andy the extra slingshot,"Go for it, it needs a field test!" the English girl was grinning as she loaded snowballs into the cannon. Then she set off another round via the rope she added to the device and the balls went flying fast and crazy. That was when she got another idea and fished a small device from her coat, using it as a scoop to get more ammo into the cannon.

Once the barrage on Snape began, it did not seem to let up. Every time he turned around to see where an attack came from, he was hit again and again. He spun about, holding up his cloak, trying to avoid the icy missiles, but it was no use. He couldn't see, he couldn't concentrate, and eventually he couldn't keep his balance. Battered from all sides, he finally slipped and crumpled to the ground, letting out a cry of annoyance.

Now, of course, he was an easy target, and the snowballs kept coming. He knew he didn't deserve this, but he also knew it didn't matter. Was his revenge on Tonks worth this? He just wanted to get out of there, clear his head, and punish the lot of them. Gritting his teeth, and taking some more hits, the wizard stood up, concentrated, and disappeared from where he had been, reappearing instantly several yards away. That should buy him a few seconds with the muggles, who were bound to be confused by Apparation. Now for some quick revenge. He glared at Tonks.

Sam rolled onto his knees and hands, got up quickly, then ran as fast as he could towards the fort Andy had ducked behind. With a loud whoop, Sam dove behind the shelter, hitting the ground and rolling a bit before coming to a stop, laughing hard. He got up on his knees again, white bits of snow now stuck in his hair. Grabbing a snowball, he shoved it face first into Andy. "Take that!" he declared, feeling like a little kid again.

He looked at the person Andy was sitting next to and grinned. "What do you say the three of us team up?" he suggested. "That is, if Andy here doesn't have any qualms about that." He glared at Andy but in good fun.

"Awesome, thanks!" Andy exclaimed, taking the extra cannon and loading it up. He had seen Tonks, but had been a bit distracted by all the snowballs flying at his head to say hello. Peeking up over the edge of the fort, he spotted her; the pink hair made her hard to miss and he grinned. "Hey, thanks for inviting me, this is really fun," he called out to her before testing out the cannon and launching snowballs in all different directions - toward Tonks, the other fort, Illyana (who he'd just noticed was there); wherever he could.

As he ducked back down again, Sam dove into the shelter and really before Andy had much of a chance to react, Sam was smashing a snowball in his face. "Oh, you're on!" Andy shouted indignantly, still laughing in spite of it and reloading the cannon. "She gave me weaponry, so you asked for it, buddy," he added.

But then Sam was suggesting to the other girl that they team up. Andy glared back playfully. "Nah, sounds good. Hey, what's your name, anyway? I didn't catch it," he said to the girl. "She made this thing, Sam," he added, gesturing with the cannon in his hands. "That's freakin' genius, right?! We'll be unstoppable." He paused and looked back at her. "If she's in, that is..."

It was odd, but Tonks apparently wasn't clumsy all the time. In times of danger, even 'danger' like a snowball fight, she was quite agile, actually. Of course, it was a good thing, because if she hadn't been she would have died ages ago. She was in a dangerous profession, after all. It wouldn't do for her to be tripping over herself all the time.

However, something of that Auror training took over as Snape Apparated. Probably it would leave the girls who had been targetting him quite baffled, but she knew immediately what he had done. And she wasn't impressed, either. This was a snowball fight, not a duel. But she wasn't going to just sit there and let him do whatever nasty thing he had planned.

Mostly dodging the snowballs flung and shot her way, she turned around. Her eyes were narrowed, focusing only on where the dark-haired wizard could have gone. Sure enough, he appeared behind her. Her wand came out, clutched loosely at her side, just in case. "Relax, Severus." She spoke in what she hoped was a soothing tone. He was clealry annoyed, and she was trying to tone it down a bit. This was, after all, supposed to be fun.

Illyana blinked as the dour looking man disappeared from the snowball fight. He'd teleported, she was sure of it. Why would the planet let some people teleport and not others? Did he not have to stop at a midpoint, as she did? Could he only do localized teleports, so he wasn't in danger of being able to teleport himself home? The question brought her almost to a stop in the middle of the fray, which she only realized was a bad idea as various snowballs hit her.

She turned to head back to her snow fort, but a fast-flying ball from a snowball canon hit her as she was turning, and knocked her to the ground. She slid and slipped as she tried to regain her footing, which was more difficult than it should have been for one used to playing in the snow.

Marcus was having a grand time. Trading snowballs with anyone and everyone, he avoided the easy target that was Snape, and tried his hand at lobbing snowballs high, so they would hit people ducking behind forts. Watching Faith and Mercy pummel Snape, he caught Faith giving him a dirty look. It was as if she didn't know why he was looking at her the way he was. Well, the woman was crazy, as far as he could tell.

Suddenly, Snape was gone. That seemed impossible. Looking around to decide where to maneouvre to next, Marcus found Tonks. Immediately after that, he saw Snape sneaking up behind her. Before he could yell for her to be careful, he saw that she had noticed him for herself. Well, no harm in playing backup. As he made his way towards the witch, he threw a few more missiles at the team with the cannon.

Astor looked up at Faith and shook her head, eyes still wide. "I didn't mean to hit that guy; he doesn't even look like he wants to play. I meant to get the other one," she said.

She turned a little in the snow and started to make a pile of ammunition and looked back over her shoulder when she heard Mercy talking again. There was a snowball in her hand and Astor blinked. "Hey, thanks," she said gratefully, taking the snowball. She listened to Mercy's advice and grinned. Hanging out with the big girls was almost as fun as hanging out with Cody and Dex.

She opened her mouth to say more, but the big girls were occupied with one another and when she peeked over the side of the fort, she could see they were pelting the guy Astor hadn't meant to hit. Well, if they were gonna, so was she. Standing up to get a better shot, Astor ducked away from the snowballs coming from the canon and squealed, giggling, when she was hit by a high-flying snowball from another older guy. She tossed one back at him and then made to aim for the grumpy looking guy Mercy and Faith were assaulting when she saw he was gone. She blinked, confused, and then he was there again...but farther away. "Whoa...did you see that?!" she gasped to the big girls. "How'd he do that?!"

The interplay between her and the dark-haired man was fascinating, in a really irritating sort of way. She didn't at all understand why he would glare at her. What had she done to him, anyway? But she couldn't stop herself from giving him a glance over, mostly because she knew it would irritate him, and then turned her attention to Astor.

"Name's Faith, who are you?" She wasn't really the type to beat around the bush. And she liked the kid, she had to admit. Or she never would have bothered introducing herself. "Hey, the guys a weirdo. Go nuts on the snowballing-ness." As far as she was concerned, anything that might make Snape leave was good.

Her approval of both Astor and Mercy grew quite a bit as they all continued to pummel the dark-robed man mercilessly. She grinned at her newfound friends. But her smile turned to a frown of confusion as he suddenly disappeared. She looked around and finally spotted him behind the girl with the really weird hair. She watched, only barely managing to dodge snowballs flying her way, sensing that something was going to happen there.

"What the fu.." she looked back at Astor. "Fudge sticks!" Mercy was a little miffed when the man suddenly vanished and appeared near Tonks and then suddenly knew this man had to be some sort of wizard as well and by the looks of things he was very unhappy with the woman who had saved her ass from the snowbank.

Mercy moved quickly to an empty snow fort undressed then changed shape into her Coyote form, she then ran dodging all the snowballs that were above her head. She crunched down in the snow behind the man so he couldn't see.

If necessary she had a plan to pull on his strange robes with her teeth, but for now she stayed almost unseen in the snow watching with her large eyes, she could also hear him and still understand his words so she waited like a predator.

"This means war!" as Violet fired off a massive round from her cannon. Her rule was simple: she may be a teenager but she has the brains not many would expect. "Fire off another volley!" she called to Andy with a smile. "Now this is my idea of fun, all out war but with snow" her eyes blazing with glee.

When Snape appeared behind Tonks, he heard a few gasps of surprise from the assembled muggles. Despite a lifetime of living under the ban on exposing the wizard world to non-magic folk, Snape found he didn't care here on Mirage. If these poor souls ever returned to Earth, was anyone more likely to believe they had seen a wizard than that they had been abducted by a sentient planet? In truth, he found that their slack-jawed amazement at the commonest of magical effects was quite the boost for his ego.

Prepared as he was to assault a trained Auror, Snape should not have been surprised to find that Tonks was ready for him. Being robbed of the element of surprise, however, merely frustrated him even more. Spitting with rage, he lowered his wand, not actually wanting to start an earnest magical duel. Besides, he had thought of a better way to get revenge on the pesky witch. Putting his wand to his throat, he cast a spell to amplify his voice.

"Fine. You win this time, Nymphadora Tonks!"

With that, Snape apparated away from the witch, away from the snowball fight, and away from all easy lines of retaliation. He knew well from his time spent as her professor that the Auror hated her given name with an irrational passion. To announce it to the crowd was a true humiliation. Back at his dormitory, Snape chuckled to himself, pleased with his vengeance.

Sam eyed Violet's snowball canon in amazement. The girl must be pretty smart if she invented that thing. Sam decided to just lay low for the moment and be support if anyone got Violet or Andy with a snowball. He held one in his hand, ready to fire, hoping it wouldn't melt before he got a chance to throw it. He should have worn gloves.

Andy laughed. Fire off another volley? She sounded like she was straight out of a warm film. "Aye aye," he agreed with a smirk, firing the snowball cannon again. He looked over his shoulder at Sam and held the cannon out to him. "I'm fuckin' cold, man, here, you take this. I'm gonna go in and get some coffee. I might be back..."

The girl hadn't given him her name even though he'd asked so when he stood, holding an arm up to protect his face as he was pelted with snowballs, he looked down at her. "Hey, kid, thanks for lettin' me use that thing. That's pretty awesome. I'm counting on you two to call it a win for our side," he said with a smirk and a salute.

Ducking his head, Andy brushed off his backside and made a run for it, heading back toward the resident buildings. He'd had his fun for the day and now he was thinkin' maybe a little reading and a lot of coffee would be kind of nice to take off the chill. "Later guys!" he called over his shoulder when he was sufficiently out of the line of fire. Then, he made his way back to his building and let himself in, shaking off the chill and heading to his room. Snowball fight...good times.

"Fine. You win this time, Nymphadora Tonks!"

The sound of his snidely mocking voice echoed through the young witches ears, and for a moment, she couldn't quite believe what she'd heard. How had he dared? No way, she'd heard wrong... but that denial didn't last very long at all, since she couldn't get that voice out of her head.

"Don't call me that!" But even screaming at the tops of her lungs as she had didn't help her feel better, because she knew that he couldn't hear her. Fuming, she glared at everyone, daring them to comment, and then thought for a moment. What was she going to do about the snarky potions master? She had no idea, but it wasn't looking like it was going to be a very good day for Severus Snape.

Muttering darkly under her breath, she avoided Marcus' eyes, and really everyone. She followed in Snape's footsteps, as they were, and quickly Apparated away as well. She was going to go plot revenge, she decided. It was annoying enough to be called that ever, but in front of Marcus of all people... she left the snowball fight without a backward glance, too embarassed by the whole thing to risk meeting anyone's gaze.

That snowball canon was deadly, Illyana decided as she struggled to her feet. She could feel the snow creeping down her coat and all through her socks. Now that it was melting against her skin, it wasn't quite as fun, and she decided to find safer ground. She made her way out of the center of the battlefield, trying to avoid the canon-fire, and back to one of the forts on the outside of the game.

She didn't want to leave without sending off one more volley, however, so she gathered up a bit of snow and packed it carefully into a good-sized snowball. She took careful aim and lobbed it toward the dark-haired girls and the young girl. "Parting shot!" she called.

With her last snowball thrown, Illyana turned back toward the residential buildings. A hot shower would be just the thing, followed by a change of clothes and then, perhaps, a trip to the restaurant for some hot chocolate. Or, she'd just order in.

As she turned, however, she noticed the woman with the oddly-colored hair disappear as well. Two teleportations in one five-minute stretch? Curious, she tried to summon her own stepping disks, but found she still couldn't. She growled under her breath as she walked away, and tried not to let it bother her too much while she was still more or less in public. She could rant and rail back in her room.

Something serious had happened there. As fun as the snowball fight was, Marcus was suddenly more concerned about Tonks. Snape's words must have really upset her for her to just leave like that, with such a dark expression. What had the black-robed wizard said that had upset her so much? Hadn't he just said her name? Come to think of it, Tonks had never told Marcus her full name. He wondered why. It was really quite lovely. Nymphadora, "gift of the water spirits" if he had his Greek right.

Absently blocking incoming snowballs with his pike, Marcus stared for a moment at the spot where Tonks had been standing, then decided he had better go and look for her. Oblivious to the fact that others were leaving, too, He marched off of the battlefield, heading for the dormitories.

Astor peeked back up over the edge of the snow fort after having ducked behind to hide from the onslaught of snowballs coming from another fort, rapid-fire. When she turned to look, Mercy had gone. Looking back at Faith, she furrowed her brow a bit with confusion. "Astor," she repeated. Maybe Faith just hadn't heard her the first time, she thought, especially with all the commotion outside the fort.

It occurred to Astor that she'd been out in the snow for a long while and she could feel the snow melting into her clothes, sending a shiver down her spine. The cold air mixing with it was making her really cold. Mom might not be here, but she'd definitely be calling Astor inside, by now...

"Thanks for letting me play," she said with a grateful smile to Faith. "I didn't see the other girl go, but if you see her, tell her I said thanks, too, okay?" she asked, standing and brushing off her bottom. She let out an angry shout when an unexpected snowball hit her in the back of the head, raining cold and frozen bits of water down her back. "I gotta go inside, I'm freezing my butt off!" she announced.

With that, she hurried away from the forts, ducking and dodging snowballs to the best of her ability, only managing to be successful a few times. By the time she got back to the dormitories, she was drenched and her teeth were chattering, but she really wanted some of that hot cocoa that Sidney had gotten for her when she'd first gotten to Mirage. So, she headed up to her room, changed into dry clothes, and decided she'd head down to the cafe to get some. Maybe if, by the time she was warmed up, the grown ups were still playing and didn't mind, she'd join back in, but for now, she just needed to stay warm and toasty.
