Entry tags:arrival, complete, day 4, legolas greenleaf, richard riddick

Who: Riddick and Legolas
What: The arrival of Riddick
Where: In the mountains
When: Day 4, just after sunset
Rating: Well this is Riddick and he's not exactly going to be thrilled when he finds out he is pretty much trapped here. So to be on the safe side I am throwing up PG-13 for probably foul language and a lot of anger and aggression.
Status: Complete

Confusion. It was not an emotion that Riddick was used to. But everything happened so quickly. One moment he was fighting along side Vakko, revenge on his mind for his home planet as well as Kyra laying a few feet from him barely hanging onto life. His knife coming down just as body and soul rejoined and his blade landing in right in the middle of Lord Marshal's skull. Then Kyra in his arms, letting go of her last breath. Him allowing her body to fall, Barely standing as he stumbled back a few feet landing in a chair that belonged to Lord Marshal.

He hadn't had time to digest anything. Looking around the warrior realized people were bowing and just as it hit him that the key rule in the Quasi-Dead religion was you keep what you kill, meaning Riddick, the only surviving Furyan was now Lord Marshal, leader of the Necromongers. But he had no time, none at all to realize this and take it in fully because just as he whispered the words, "You keep what you kill." a black hole right under his chair had opened up and before Riddick knew it, he was falling into pitch black, into nothingness.

Harsh, brutal ground was what greeted Riddick when he awoke. He had no clue what time, what place, what year, what planet he was on. He wasn't sure if he was alive or dead. Though judging by the slight stiffness in his body he would say alive. And as he looked around, realizing the sun was setting, he took off his welding glasses to look around, allowing his sensitive eyes to adjust to what was around him.

Still feeling out of it, trying to piece it all together, Riddick stood, stretching his long limbs as he looked around realizing he was in some sort of mountainous region which confused him as he didn't know a place with mountains. Ever the practical man, before over reacting ,studied his situation, making a plan in his head. Riddick had exceptional skills , and escaping was one of them. As he walked, high on his guard, a plan was formulating in his head for escape though he had no clue that escape was not something that could be achieved here.

His acute sense told him that some 400 feet to his left someone was approaching or something. Walking just a bit closer and ducking behind a large tree just 200 feet from the approaching noise, Riddick focused his animal like eyes to the path in which he could see, his hands immediately going to his belt and withdrawing his blades as he waited patiently to see who was approaching.

He'd awoken in a soft bed in the middle of a forest grove, or at least what appeared to be one. It felt less odd every day to be here, though truth be told, he'd hardly had much time to think about what had happened. Except for a couple of longing thoughts towards his friends, wondering if they were okay without him, he'd had little time to spare for wishing to get away from this strange place. Meeting the beautiful Giselle, and then the white-water rafting trip, had kept him quite occupied.

Today, though, he found himself without anything to do. He stood up, stretched, and tried to decide what he wanted to do with his day. First things first. He'd meant to send Giselle a note, but had been interupted by the forced rafting trip. Still, today was almost as good, so he did that first of all. A quick breakfast, and he was ready to go. A blinking light on a box as he went through the foyer caught his attention. He picked up the key, shrugged, and tucked it in his pocket

Then, he spent all day just roaming over the beautiful grounds. Although he was a creature of the forest, he could easily appreciate natural beauty in all forms. This place was strange to him. Similar to the plains of Rohan, however, which made him feel more at home.

All day, he wandered through the gorgeous landscape on foot. Somehow, he ended up high in the rolling mountains. They were nothing like the tall, forbidding peaks of his own world, and he found himself fascinated with them. Soon, though, it was getting dark, and he was growing hungry. He wished he'd thought to bring food.

Suddenly, he saw a flicker of movement far ahead of him, and the lighthearted nature walk changed for him. He'd brought his bow, because he rarely went anywhere without it, and carefully, slowly, he reached over his shoulder and grabbed an arrow. His smiling face turned grim as he slowly approached. No one without Elven sight, or vision enhanced in some other way, could have caught the movement. Legolas, however, had far-seeing eyes, and had no problem pinpointing the movement. After all, he was quite the hunter, as well as a warrior.

His musical voice was almost friendly as he called out, though his bow was drawn, the arrow ready to fly at the slightest provocation. It hadn't looked like the movement of an animal, so he spoke.

"Greetings, friend. You may as well come out of hiding. I know where you are."

He stood about 100 feet from the tree that sheltered whoever, or whatever, had moved so quickly, and spoke loudly enough for them to hear. He knew he could easily hit him, even from this far away. Calm, confident, and poised, he waited for a response.

Acute senses, and keen talent and skills in survival and escape had taught the dark, shiny eyed Riddick to trust his instincts and not always his ears. Though the voice that he had no clue whom it belonged to, sounded friendly, almost welcoming, Riddick didn't move completely out of the shadows and protection of the large tree. However he moved enough to be able to see with great help of the quickly growing night.

A tall, slender figure, long hair, quite large ears which was not something Riddick was quite used to. He could see the other persons bow, poised and ready to do damage to whoever came close. Riddick was not one to back down nor cower in fear. His Furyan heritage gave him extraordinary skills and he could indeed protect himself. Even against the unknown as this figure still was.

Slowly, ever so slowly and with a defined air around him, Riddick stepped from behind the tree, his blades tight in his grip. His almost white eyes that were shining brightly in the darkened night were locked onto the other person standing not far from his tree. Blond hair that looked almost silver, the ears, not of human kind and a perfect stance for doing serious harm and even causing death.

Riddick remained silent as he studied this person or creature, deciding rather it would be friend or foe, not that Riddick really cared either way since most were one in the same. Though he never let his guard down,he decided to test the grounds and try to get some useful for information from the other man,or so Riddick had thought the other was of the male gender.

His voice was eve,a very dark monotone that showed no traces of emotion nor gave a hint of rather he was friendly or not. The only hint that came across in his tone was one of danger when crossed and annoyance at assumption despite the fact he was sure the other man had just used the word, "friend" without giving much thought.

"Friend? I'm afraid not. You should be careful with your choice of wording."

The prince was almost completely sure he didn't like the sound of that deep baritone voice that was so menacing, even while it was completely without intonation or variation of any time. Still, he hadn't lived as long as he had by taking things for granted, so he shook his head, kept his bow drawn back, and simply laughed. Although it was a light-hearted, merry sound, he was completely focused on the target. The man, and his elven eyes easily picked up that it was a male he was facing, was enormous. Taller even that he was, and much more muscular. The shaved head was kind of strange, not something he was used to seeing. Not to mention the incredibly shiny eyes. Quite startling.

"A thousand pardons, my Lord, but where I'm from, we have some habits that might seem strange to you. One of them is something called courtesy. Unless you are an Orc, of course. If you are, that all changes."

His eyes widened as he realized something, realized just what must have happened. The glowing key he'd picked up this morning, it must be... he flashed back quickly to the key that Giselle had given him such a short time ago when she'd met him. This, then, was his task. He sighed softly. He much would have prefered if it had been someone like Giselle, not someone like this dangerous man. Of course, there was a slight thrill in the muted hostility between them.

"I am called Legolas, and I desire to speak with you. I think I can explain things to you, if you wish. You are not going to like much of what I have to say, but you do need to know."

Riddick never let his guard down as he listened to the other man speak. Yes he was sure now that it was a man though he had no clue what exactly the other man was. Not that it really mattered to Riddick. He wasn't at all interested in anything other than all the information he could gather about this God forsaken planet he seemed to be on right now.

The language the other man spoke was strange and had that feeling of confusion coming back to Riddick. He was quickly beginning to hate feeling confused and he felt very off kilter and center with this emotion muddling his brain. His hands flexed around the handles of his blades as he watched the man called Legolas with his bow still drawn speak.

"Do you speak freaking English?"

Again it was once more said in that almost dead but dangerous voice. Feeling more annoyance than threat from this other man, Riddick leaned back against his tree again, relaxing slightly but not completely. Until he knew every detail he could, he would remain on guard and trust no one.

However the last words spoken had Riddick raising a brow and very curious as to what he could learn about this place, and how in the fuck to get off of it.

"Then speak. Where in the hell am I and how in the fuck do I leave?"

It was an effort for him not to actually roll his eyes and sigh in frustration. This man was very much testing him, and though elves are by nature more patient than humans, Legolas was very young for his race, and much less well-equipped to deal with this. Elrond or Galadriel would have been able to keep their tempers, he was sure, and he took a deep breath to try and remind himself that this person was new here, and likely confused.

"I do not speak English, my Lord. In fact, I don't even know what English is. I speak Elven, and the common tongue of the men of the North. As well, I speak the language of the forest. Not this English you speak of. But no matter what language you speak, it will be translated so that all can understand."

He relaxed his hold on the bow, for no one could hold a bow completely drawn forever. His arms, while strong, wouldn't be able to hold the strain. He didn't put the arrow away, though, and he didn't let the bow drop. He was ready, and if Riddick made a single move he didn't like, he would be completely ready to act.

"Despite your attitude, which I will try to overlook since you are a stranger in a strange land, I will tell you all I know. I'm going to walk closer, now. I have something to give to you."

He dug his hand into his belt pouch and came out with a key, shining brightly in the moonlight. It was dark, now, but Legolas had no problem seeing. He gathered that the human, whoever he was, was in the same situation as him. Unusual. Humans usually couldn't see well in the night. But, then, perhaps the shining of his eyes helped him, as it does for the greats cats that inhabited his forest home.

This was how Riddick was. he never tried to piss people off it came naturally and he never saw a reason to change himself to make himself liked or more people friendly. He honestly could care less if people liked him or not. And this guy whatever the fuck he was, was really pissing him off. He could understand the guy but the manner of which he was speaking was pissing Riddick off to no end.

"Yeah I can tell you can't speak damn English. And I ain't Your Lord."

Okay so his temper and short leash on patience was pretty much out. And he wasn't about to hide it. He didn't feel the need to. His eyes though shining brightly were beginning to show just how annoyed he was. As was his stance and his tone.

And when the man moved closer, his grip tightened on his blades as he started to withdraw them from his belt. He didn't know this man, this Legolas and he surely didn't trust him. But he listened and though he was on guard he looked at the shiny key within the other man's palm.

"What the hell is that? and how in the hell is it supposed to help me?"

It was very, very hard to keep his temper, and becoming moreso by the moment. He took deep, calming breaths of the night air, let his anger at the new arrival's rudeness go as best he could. He even slung his bow over his back, though his free hand, the one not carrying the key, dropped to his belt. He was ready to draw one of his long knives in a second, if he had to. He saw the way the large man was standing, and he recognized a battle-stance when he saw one. Just because this being was probably some sort of human, didn't mean he should take him for granted.

"My apologies, but as you have yet to give me a name..."

He even bowed a bit, trying to hide the smirk that came over his fair features. He was among the most mischievious of his race, and all his friends and family knew that, in the right mood, he was a dangerous prankster. He could tell the way he spoke was driving the other man crazy, and so far, he wasn't even in his Prince role. He was just acting as any well-born elf would do. He sensed that the more he acted like the Prince of Mirkwood, the more it would infuriate the human with the shiny eyes.

"Well, my Lord,, in my home we call them keys. They are commonly used to lock things with, and also to unlock them."

He was having a good time, now, speaking very patiently and calmly, as one would speak to a child. He inclined his head once more, outwardly placid, but his hand never let go of the hilt of his knife, even as he stopped in front of the tall man and held out the other hand, the one that held the key. He wasn't close, but close enough that he could take it if he wanted to.

"It's confusing. I believe there is a plaque I should show you. Follow me, if you want to learn more."

And then, he did something he knew was dangerous. He turned his back on the unpredictable, rude, and very insulting human. He knew that he was taking a risk, but he hoped that the man had enough honor not to attack a foe that was not facing him. He really couldn't know, either way, but he was starving, and wanted to get this introduction done so that he could eat something. It had been a long time since breakfast.

Okay this man, this whatever the hell he was, was starting to piss him off and he wasn't about to hide it. he was not known for patience and even temper and the fact that this Legolas would have no way of knowing that since they were obviously not from the same worlds, Riddick didn't give a a fuck. He would learn and it just might be that he learned the hard way. Riddick still hadn't figured that one out yet.

"No I haven't and maybe it's not important. But the name's Riddick."

It was almost like he expected his name to have some sort of impact on this man,get some sort of reaction. Since if he had said it back on his own planet he would be in chains and bound to the pipe of a ship heading to Crematoria. Not that chains or prison could hold him. They never had. A groan let the other man know his sense of humor was not at all welcomed.

"I can tell it's a damn key. Never underestimate my intelligence. Now what in the hell is it for?"

When Legolas stepped closer,Riddick eyed the other man intently wondering if the other man was stupid or testing him for letting down his guard even a little. But he eyed the key and reached out taking it. Eying it, studying it trying to figure it out. Then the other man made another dumb move. Probably the dumbest move he could ever make around Riddick. He turned his back. Which actually brought a sick smile to Riddick's lips. He pocketed the key making a note to ask Legolas just what to do with it. And he took his hands off his knives as he walked behind the other man, taking him in.

"You do realize if it wasn't for the fact I am getting something out of this, you would be close to death by now. You never turn your back, especially not to me. however if this information doesn't prove to be useful, you still might be in danger."

Again, a smirk rose to his lips as he listened to the other man speak. He was irritating him. In some sort of mischievious way, that was amusing him to no end. After all, Riddick had been the one to be rude, first. And he wasn't even being really rude, just overly polite, and formal. His 'Prince' self, that he rarely let out except for those rare times it was appropriate and required.

Turning around, he sunk into a deep bow, a very formal greeting that was more suited for a coronation or a wedding, not for something like a meeting in the mountains. But his sense of humor wouldn't let him stop this. When he spoke, it was in Elven, but he knew that the other man would understand every word.

"Well met, Riddick. I am Prince Legolas of Mirkwood and Lord of Ithilien. May the sun shine warm upon our first meeting, and lead to years upon end of the blessed meetings to come. May the wind always blow with good fortune for you, and may there always be streams and cool rainwater to slake your thirst. May the Valar smile on you, now and forever."

The formal greeting complete, Legolas immediate broke the other man's command by turning his back to him once more. He was not afraid. He had his knives, and knew that he was the equal of any ten humans in a fight.

"The key is to your room, of course. Now, follow me. There's a plaque that should explain much."

Riddick stopped just short of running into the other man since he had stopped so suddenly. And again with the formal address and the words that was driving him insane. This Prince,Leoglas was pushing him and clearly the other man didn't realize that was a damn bad idea. With an annoyed growl he tried hard not to be rude since he had a feeling the man was doing this on purpose but damn it he was pissed off.

"Do they have a thing on this God forsaken planet called duct tape,or gags?"

Ah the man once more turned his back on him and Riddick shook his head but didn't correct him.If the man wanted to be stupid then so be it. It was obvious this Elf had a childish and impish streak to him that could very well get him killed by Riddick. He followed him once more studying the other man.

"Then by all means lead the way. By the way? I'm not human and you would do good to actually remember that. I ain't exactly normal either."

Though the thought had never been voiced, one often mistook Riddick for human as he looked very much like a human but his strengths and talents were far from human. His abilities also were not human.

His mind went back to the key in his pocket. The key to his room.Wait. His room?He didn't actually intend to stay here long enough to need a damn room.

"My room?I don't think that will be needed."

Now, that actually threw Legolas for a bit of a loop. He knew that, of course, the other man wasn't speaking a language he knew, but still, he understood it. However, parts of it, he was at a loss as to what they actually meant. He frowned, but didn't stop this time. He wasn't stupid, not by any means. He knew that he was annoying Riddick, and that chances were really good the man wouldn't put up with it for long. But, still, he was confident. Even Aragorn hadn't been able to best him more than half the time when they sparred. Also, he knew he couldn't be killed here. Still, that didn't help him understand what the man was talking about.

"I do know what a gag is, the Orcs who do not value freedom as we do use them on their prisoners. Barbarians! But what is God, and why has this being forsaken this planet? And what is this duct tape?"

He wasn't being a brat, this time. He actually didn't know. There were certain drawbacks to coming from a world that was much less technologically advanced than most. He was still pondering over that as he led the man towards the main building, where the plaque was.

"I shall. And thank you for that information. I had wondered, when I saw your eyes. I, also, am not human. You may have noticed the ears. They're a good indication of that. Now that that's out of the way..."

So, this being wasn't human. Interesting. Once more, he gripped the hilt of his knife, but his voice was relaxed, almost placid, as he responded to the comment the other man had made about the room key.

"You have a lot to learn, it would seem."

A while back,Riddick had a discussion with a Religious man about God.He was not at all a believer and never had been nor would ever be. Though that didn't stop the darker man from trying and he was the closest thing to a friend Riddick had. He had trusted him enough to take care of Kyra though in the end it had been himself that had let her down once more. His face took on a small hint of sadness as he thought back and listened to Legolas. He was truly curious and in his moment of weakness Riddick actually indulged him.

"God doesn't exist, not here, not another planet even another world. As for the rest, it don't matter you won't understand. and where I come from gags actually come in handy."

His mood had went almost solemn as he had been stupid enough to go back into the past and think of Kyra, her death he hadn't had time to deal with. But he hid his emotions. Riddick looked around taking everything in.

"The eyes were a gift and a curse. And yeah the ears gave it way."

His response was short, terse. He stopped in front of a plaque. All he wanted right now was to get the fuck out of here. Little did he know that in a few minutes his hopes of escape would be shattered though he would never give up trying.

Legolas shook his head slightly. He came from a place where the only 'Gods' where the Valar, and he knew they existed. He knew elves that had been to Valinor, and seen them with their own eyes. To him, these beings were as real as anyone in the world, and it wouldn't have even occured to him to question their existance.

"I don't know what you speak of, Riddick. I have never heard of God. But, if you say he does not exist, I shall have to take your word on that."

He stopped in his tracks as he turned around to look at the strange being behind him. Gags came in handy? What sort of being was this? For the only thing that Legolas, or really any elf, feared was being restrained. Some elves even died when it was done to them.

"You don't value freedom, then? Well, I'm glad I do not come from your world. After I show you to your room, I believe I shall part from you. It would be best if you didn't seek me out again. I shall not seek you out, enemy of freedom."

Then, he pushed the door open and led the large man to the plaque in the center of the room. He had no idea how this strange being would react to being told he was here forever. Some, he imagined, took it better than some. So he stepped back and watched, his bow once more in his hand, and the arrow in place. If Riddick went on a rampage, Legolas would defend himself. After all, there were non-fatal places to shoot.

"Different planets, different worlds."

It was soft spoken and his only answer to the situation on God. He figured Legolas had a different world and different God who might be better than the one he knew. He was still slightly off from his own mistake when Legolas stopped and let it be known how he felt about captivity and freedom.

"I never said I didn't value it. If I didn't then I wouldn't have fought hard for it every time it was taken away. But not all of us come from your perfect little world, Prince. In fact some of us have to fight for survival every day of our lives. And some of us don'thave a choice for our captors will do what ever it takes to keep their bounty"

he stopped talking thinking it would be best for the Elf to leave him now but yet he walked from the other man and looked at the plaque. And with every word he read, the more angry and determined Riddick became to escape this damn place.

"I fought hard for my freedom I will not have it taken from me just as I finally received it for good."

Riddick growled, his hands balling into fists as he looked at the other man but didn't really see him.

"Where is my room?"

This time, there was an odd sort of expression on his face as he spoke, very softly. Not joking, one of the rare times when he was completely and totally serious about something.

"There's a war in my world. My friends could be dead, because I was taken here instead of staying by their side. They are going into the Paths of the Dead, and I am not there. The war is upon them, by now. My world could be destroyed. You know nothing of what you speak of."

He allowed his bow to drop, and put the arrow away. He had no heart left for fighting. He would bring this strange being to his room, and then he would go seek the half-waking dream-filled state that elves have instead of true sleep.

"There are those who fight to go home, Riddick, or those are the rumors. The one who calls himself a Ranger, Marcus, as well as the pink-haired witch who has a name I haven't caught. You might seek them out, if you wish to escape. Myself, I believe it is not possible."

He slung his bow over his shoulder and headed for the 'D' dormitory building. The number, D113, he'd noticed inscribed on the key that Riddick now carried. He was quiet, now, thoughtful. It hadn't really struck home for him that he couldn't leave. He'd been too distracted.

"Follow, if you will."

Riddick tore himself from the plaque, his mind already trying to find a way out of this. He would not seek out the others as he was a loner and would prefer to do this on his own.The last time he had helped people most ended up dead. However something the Elf said had pissed him off and just before they left the main room, Riddick grabbed his arm and pushed him against the wall.

"Never tell me, I know not what I speak of. I've watched people die. People that were the only ones that ever came close to making me care.My entire planet was wiped out from under me when I was a mere child. So never tell me, I know nothing about death and suffering."

Riddick glared at the Elf before pulling back and walking off saying in a low tone.

"I will find my own room."

Suddenly Riddick had to be alone for he didn't know if he wanted to attempt to kill the Elf or do something to shut him the hell up.

Legolas had never moved his hand far from the knife at his belt, and he immediately gripped it as he was flung against the wall. For whatever reason, though, he didn't draw it, although Riddick was close enough that he could have easily stabbed him. But he didn't. He simply kept it in his grasp, ready to strike if the man did more than he had already done. Every muscle in his body was tensed up, his excellent elven reflexes fully engaged, though he did not act.

He was proven to be justified in his actions, because the dangerous being dropped his arm and walked away. Legolas watched him go, not speaking until the very last minute he figured that he would be heard.

"Your planet and mine could be the same, now, and I could have stopped it. Goodnight, Riddick. The rooms can change. Just so you know. Just think about what you wish for it to look like, and it shall be. If you need anything, find one of the golems. They are the strange ones dressed in suits."

That fulfilled his obligations, as far as he was concerned, so he turned around once more and headed towards his own dormitory. Even though he was hungry, food could wait. It had been a long day, and what he needed more than anything else was rest.
