Listening to his voice, and to all the questions he asked erased any doubt Sarah Jane had that the boy hugging her might not be her Luke. Only her Luke would jump straight into the questions. She grinned like mad as she squeezed him tightly. After a moment, she felt him start to pull away, and loosened her grip so that he could do so. She wasn't quite done with the hug, but mums were supposed to take their cues on such things from their children, at least if Maria and Clyde were to be believed.

She took his questions one at a time, resisting the urge to ask him to slow down. It was good for her to race to keep up with his thought processes; it kept her sharp. "I'm not sure whether I'm pleased to see you or horrified that you've ended up here," she said honestly, regarding him.

She leant on the door frame, still feeling slightly overwhelmed. "Spatial temporal shift?" she echoed. "Yes, I think I must have. Felt like a transmat beam. I'd just seen you off to school and was heading to the shops, when I ended up outside in the snow. What were you doing before you ended up here?"

Sarah Jane blinked at Luke. "You've met Violet as well?" She smiled. "She's the one who helped me get my bearings yesterday. I know what she told me, what I read on that plaque in the lobby, and I've been working with friends to try and piece together the rest." Her face brightened. "Oh, Luke, the Doctor's here! And Rose, and that man from Torchwood. Whatever it is keeping us here, I'm sure together we'll have it sorted in no time."

She stepped back inside her room and gestured for Luke to follow, "come in and sit down. Are you hungry? Thirsty? Where are you bunking?"
