Who? The Doctor & Ianto Jones. (Open to Jack to jump in on as well, if he wants!)
When? Morning.
Where? Out and about.
What? A strange sort of meeting.
Rating: TBA
Status: Incomplete.

When the Doctor had opened the curtains and peeked out of the window that morning, he couldn't help but shriek with delight. The planet had changed yet again, and this time it had transformed into a winter wonderland. He supposed that Rose had got her wish for a cold place after all. The sight of the snow practically turned him into a child, and instead of bothering with anything else at all, the Doctor had a desperate need to explore.

His outfit was the same as ever, while people around him were wrapped up in hats and ski jackets, but that was just the way he was. He did have a vague thought of searching the TARDIS for that long scarf he'd once been so fond of, but that would have to wait. For now, he was far too excited to think about anything like that - in the distance, he could see skiers and snowboarders, the frozen lake with ice-skaters already eager to get going, and... dear god, were there even huskies? He could hardly wipe the grin off his face as he started to explore a little further... although he didn't get too far in his thin-soled shoes, since after only a couple of metres the ground suddenly became a lot closer than it had been before. he looked about in confusion. "Eh, ouch!" he exclaimed, a bit of a delayed reaction to his fall, as he tried, unsuccessfully, to get to his feet once more.

It wasn't often that Ianto had seen this much snow. After having a nice warm cup of coffee, he bundled himself up and went outside for a walk. Everywhere around him was white with piles and piles of snow.

With a grin, he leaned down and scooped some of the fluff up, packing it together into a snowball and tossing it lightly between his hands. It started to fall apart quickly and when it had deteriorated, he brushed his hands against his coat to clean them off.

That was when he noticed the man struggling in the snow. He quickened his pace to go and assist the man, wondering what he was doing without proper winter apparel. First he saw the suit. Then he saw the face.

Ianto froze, staring at the man. It was the Doctor. The bloody Doctor. Half of him wanted to go right up and clock him one in the face but his body couldn't quite move yet.

The Doctor didn't see the other man at first, so was quite content just to scuffle about in the snow looking like more of an idiot by the second. Eventually, he managed to roll onto his front and get up onto his knees before standing up properly. He was completely soaked. Excellent.

He proceeded to brushed the snow from his knees, noticing his observer for the first time. "No, no, don't rush to help or anything, I'm completely wonderful, thanks," he said sarcastically. Apparently his rude streak was going to stick with him.

That made Ianto make up his mind. He walked forward purposefully, fists clenched, then stopped in front of the Time Lord. He kept it short. He kept it simple.

Jack had said that the first Doctor he'd been with had been different from this one, so this one had to know about Jack, so Ianto didn't feel bad about what he was about to do.

"Doctor," he greeted gruffly, then lashed out with his fist, punching the Doctor right in the face and sending him back into the snow.

"That was for Captain Jack Harkness," he spat out, not moving to help him to his feet.

The Doctor barely had time to wonder how on Earth (or indeed, on Mirage, as the case might be) the man knew his name before he had a fist in his face and found himself sitting in the snow once again. "What the FUCK?" he yelled; he couldn't remember the last time he'd swore, especially not with such conviction, but he supposed the occasion really called for it. Maybe being rude and not ginger really did have his downfalls after all; had karma finally kicked his ass?

And then he mentioned Jack, and the confusion increased. "Jack? Why? What about him?" he asked... although, he supposed the answer should have been obvious. For leaving him behind when he knew that he was still alive? For ignoring him, even though he knew he was on the planet? But... how did this man know about any of that? He didn't even bother trying to get up; he was already soaked and cold, so it didn't really seem worth the effort. PLus, he didn't really want to take the risk of being punched to the ground once again.

Ianto reached down to grab the Doctor by the front of his suit jacket and hauled him roughly to his feet. "For everything you've ever done to hurt him," he said tightly, staring at this man he had so many conflicting feelings over. He wanted to punch him again but thought of Jack and managed to reign himself in. He let the Doctor go and took a step back.

"Don't expect me to apologize for that," he informed the Time Lord shortly. "I suppose I have to thank you though. If you hadn't abandoned him, he would never have found his way to my time and I would never have met him. Who's your current companion you travel with?" He asked because he wasn't quite sure what time this Doctor came from. "Rose Tyler? She's here with you, if I remember right. No one else after her yet?"

For a moment, the Doctor wasn't sure what Ianto was doing. Was he dragging him up to beat him again? Really, it seemed that anything was possible, but as the other man explained himself a little further, the Doctor couldn't help but just glare at him. Everything he'd ever done to hurt him?! What the hell was that meant to mean? He hadn't quite come to terms with the idea of an immortal Jack yet, so the idea of feeling bad for him was out of the question.

Geez, make your mind up, he thought but decided not to voice aloud in case the man took a turn for the violent option again. "After her? No! What? No, no one else after her, what are you...?" he trailed off, getting a little frustrated that he was apparently completely out of the loop. "Who the hell are you?" he spluttered; he didn't like not being the one who knew everything for a change.

Ianto quickly processed everything in his brain. If he had no companion after Rose, than that meant he hadn't met Martha or even Donna yet and if he hadn't met Martha and lost Rose then that meant... that meant...

"Oh god," Ianto muttered, running a hand over his face as he turned away in disbelief. Canary Wharf hadn't even happened for the Doctor yet.

He glanced back at the Time Lord, studying him silently. What was he supposed to say? He'd said all the reasons he had for hating and being grateful to the Doctor that the Time Lord would know but everything else that had yet to happen...

"I come from a bit farther along in your timeline. Almost two and a half years, I believe. Almost the end of 2008. Actually, I'm not even sure if that's correct since I don't know what year you're originally from. To keep things simple, my name is Ianto Jones, I love and live with Captain Jack Harkness, and you've hurt him very badly in the past. I do not appreciate the pain you've caused him and don't understand why he still looks up so highly to you."

The Doctor brushed the excess snow from his suit once again, but there was very little point considering he was soaked through. He listened rather impatiently to Ianto's story as he started babbling on about 2008 and so on; he was about to explain to him that it didn't matter what year either of them were from originally, that time wasn't a straight line and two years for Ianto could actually be 50 years later for the Doctor... but what was the point?

"Well, it's... eh, interesting to meet you, Ianto Jones," he said coarsely, although he couldn't help but quirk an eyebrow as Ianto mentioned loving and living with Jack. "You must be from further forward in my timeline than you imagine. Jack settling down? Immortality must be taking it's toll," he said, murmuring the last part. He sighed, crossing his arms over his chest in a pathetic attempt at keeping himself warm.

"I suppose you mean because I left him on the space-station?" he asked, not sure what else he could possibly mean.

Ianto resisted the urge to lash out physically once again, instead gritting his teeth and clenching his hands into tight fists. "He's different," Ianto insisted. "He's changed for the better. And yes, that's what I mean, among other things. Lots of other things. Most of them haven't happened yet in your time line so I will refrain from throwing them in your face. However, that doesn't mean I'm going to forget them. I've heard a lot about you, Doctor, and while I don't think you're as evil as I was first led to believe, I know you can be cruel. I also know you can be kind as well. You saved Jack's life even though he tried to con you. You've saved the world many times." He sighed, shaking his head a little. "You are a very confusing person. Hopefully I'll come to understand a few more things about you since we're all stuck here. You did know that Jack was here as well, right?"
