Day Thirteen
Who: Commodore James Norrington and Open
What: James discovers something magnificent
When: Day 13, morning
Where: The docks
Rating: TBD
Status: Incomplete

James Norrington was a very happy man. He was standing on the deck of small but very real ship. It wasn't anywhere near his beloved Interceptor or the more noble Dauntless but it was a ship - a small frigate, neat and trim. It sailed the ocean and it was apparently his. It was crewed by more of those odd golems, which he found somewhat unnerving. They were almost silent and that was something he wasn't used to from a ship's crew. But they were real enough, even down to wearing the uniforms of sailors of the Royal Navy, and they followed his orders without question. He could accept that.

They were now preparing the ship to set sail and his experience eye told him that he had just under an hour until the tide turned. He wanted to be ready to sail on the tide and then he'd see just what there was to see. There were a number of charts in the captain's cabin and they were rather odd. They made sense but they were nonetheless odd.

He walked over to the helm and placed a hand on the wheel. The wood was fine-grained and looked well-worn. He looked out over the ship and a small smile grew on his face. Yes, this was where he belonged and he couldn't wait to set sail.

Michiru had spared Haruka the dawn wake up today, but that hadn't stopped her from wanting to go down to the shore in the early morning. So she'd dressed and grabbed a bite to eat and headed down to the beach. Today she carried the violin case, figuring that as long as she didn't overplay again, her fingers should be healed enough to get some practice in.

While she'd have loved to play actually standing in the waves, her natural reluctance to ruin an instrument, no matter how replaceable, kept her back from the worst of the salt spray. Still, as she drew the bow over the strings she smiled at the pleasant combination of waves and music. She played for a little bit, letting the notes carry out on the winds.

Unfortunately, her fingers weren't quite as healed as she though, and she soon found her hand smarting to a distracting degree. So, with a sigh, she packed the violin back up and proceeded to wander, rather aimlessly down the beach. It was then that she noticed the ship. That was new. She'd wandered the beach several times in the past few days, and was pretty sure she would have noticed that. She climbed onto the docks, curious as to who was manning this new addition to the resort. She didn't sail, swimming was her preferred method of communing with the sea, but ships were quite beautiful. Perhaps she could get a better look.

"Ah, hello?" she called. It looked like the ship was populated mostly by the strange golems, but there was a man at the helm. "Excuse me sir" she said, standing at the end of the dock.

The golems may have been silent but they were certainly efficient and James judged with an experienced eye that they would have the ship ready to sail well before the tide turned. He was looking forward to this. Even in Port Royal, most of his time had been spent in the duties of a Commodore of the Royal navy, whether that was in the more mundane day to day duties or the hideously boring social duties. At least here he ahd neither of those. He certainly didn't miss the stultifying parties where he was expected to dance with every unattached lady and somehow avoid any sort of entanglement. The women here at the resort might be odd but he found them an improvement on the ones he was used to dealing with.

He moved over to the railing and clasped his hands behind his back as he watched the movement below. As he did he heard a voice calling from the docks. He looked over and blinked. There was a young woman standing on the docks, Asian from the look of her though this was the first time he'd seen any young woman with green hair. Clearly the resort had not finished with its surprises for him when it came to the womenfolk.

He strode over the side of the ship and inclined his head respectfully as he looked down at the young woman. "Good morning, miss," he called back politely. "How may I help you?"

Michiru looked up as someone called down to her. She backed up a pace so she could give a polite bow.

"I don't mean to be a bother sir" she said, holding her violin case in front of her. "I was just admiring your ship. I had not seen one around here before. I was wondering if she had a name"

That seemed a good question. Honestly, she'd really like a chance to look at everything from on board, but she was far too well mannered to even hint at that with someone she'd never met before. He was probably very proprietary about his ship.
