Who: Faith and Snape
What: Snape decides Faith doesn't need to sleep. She disagrees. Hilarity ensues. They wander off to train, and then make out.
When: Around 8am
Where: Faith's room, then on a pillar by the sea to train.
Rating: PG-13 - R for naked Faith and some making out.
Status: Complete

She'd never much been interested in the whole 'early to bed, early to rise' philosophy. A confirmed night owl, she was rarely in her bed before 3am, at the earliest. She liked the night time. As far as she was concerned, the damned early bird could keep it's stupid worm. She'd take a comforable bed anyday, no questions asked.

Last night had been no different than most. She'd had an interesting time training with Xena, Gabrielle, Toph and Katara, but had wandered off bored after not too long. Teaching people really wasn't so much her forte. She was more of the lone wolf type, neither good at teaching nor particularly at learning. Sure, she showed her Watchers a certain amount of respect, but that didn't make her an easy student. After that impromptu, for her, at least, training session, she had wandered along her merry way. She hadn't made it to her bed until well past 4am.

Being left to her own devices, it would be well past noon when she awoke. Someone, however, seemingly didn't know when to leave her to those devices. In the midst of her dreams, for once as normal as they ever got, she heard a banging. Not loud, not at first. But insistent. Even when she dragged her pillow over her head, it wasn't enough to keep the noise out fully.

The girl sighed, slipped out of bed, and staggered over to the door. Once there, she held on to the doorframe and swung open the door. Her hair was a mess, she was still bleary-eyed, and on top of that, she was completely and totally nude. She didn't sleep wearing clothing, and didn't care enough about other people's sense of what was decent and what wasn't to even grab a blanket to cover up.

"Oh, it's you. Sorry, I'm not the Slayer before noon. Come back later."

Snape had already been up for two hours when he went to rouse Faith. He had completed his morning meditation and rituals as well as having a simple breakfast. Eight o'clock in the morning was, in his estimation, a perfectly reasonable time to be up and about. At Hogwarts no student was permitted to sleep past seven-thirty. Even that seemed ill-advisedly indulgent to the former Potions master. He had never tolerated tiredness as an excuse for missing, being late for, or not paying attention in any of his morning classes.

When he had to knock several times on Faith's door before she would answer, he suspected she was not an early riser. It would not surprise him. She seemed enamoured with a certain rebellious attitude, to the point of foolishness. Take this sleeping-in business. Obviously it was a rebellion against the established norms of civilized society, but what advantage was it to her herself? Snape found such mindless flailing one of the more irritating qualities of the teenaged. Luckily, Faith appeared to be in her late teens, and would likely grow out of such behaviour soon.

Faith's appearance once she had come to the door confirmed his guesses. Her messy hair and bleary eyes attested to her recent occupation of her bed. Her nudity, to his mind, attested to her need to receive attention for her rebellious ways. Accustomed as he was to seeing his own naked body in non-sexual contexts, he had become used at Hogwarts to the taboo nature of student, and especially female student, nudity. Thus Faith's nakedness came as an unexpected surprise to him. He mastered himself quickly, however. She was not a student, and he would not give her the satisfaction of playing her immature pranks on him. If she wanted attention, he would give her attention. He slowly looked her body up and down before speaking.

"Very funny. Such sloth is unconvincing in a woman whose resolve is such that she would train even in a hurricane. I trust it is the improvement in the weather that has encouraged you to adopt this... mode of dress for today's activities?"

She blinked at him with confused eyes for a few seconds before turning around and walking, or rather stumbling, back to bed. She wasn't at her best after a mere 4 hours or so of sleep, and could barely even understand what he was saying. Nor did she particularly care enough to try, to be honest. All she wanted was to go back to bed.

"Fuck off, will you?"

She realized belately that she'd gone to the door naked, but shrugged it off and really didn't care that much. After all, it was just a lack of clothing. The world wasn't going to end if she didn't wear pajamas. If it made him uncomfortable, that was his problem as far as she was concerned.

She'd left the door open, though, sort of an unspoken invitation to enter her room. She fell onto her plush bed, which today was a large pillow. Actually, her entire room rather looked like some fanciful interpretation of some far-east Harem room for a very wealthy man. Of course, she changed the decor nearly every day, but it was always lush, always the complete opposite of the dingy rattrap motel rooms she'd been staying in most of her teenaged life.

Snape rolled his eyes as Faith walked away from him. He did not understand this girl. One day she was eager enough to train that she waited for him in a raging storm, while another day she slept in and treated him rudely when he woke her. Where was her consistency? And how disrespectful was it for her to turn her back on him?

Carefully, Snape stepped into her room, looking around as if expecting hidden dangers. He found her furnishings gaudy and impractical. What did any of this have to do with being a Slayer?

"No, I will not 'fuck off.' I am here for a purpose, a purpose which I have adopted at your invitation. It is my belief that, in a relationship such as ours, both parties have a role to play, and even if you are not willing to play your role at the moment, be assured that I am. Get up, Slayer! You have already missed breakfast, and there is much work to be done before lunchtime!"

Taking another step into her ostentatious chamber, Snape regarded Faith's naked form sprawled on her plush bed. Now that the shock of seeing her nudity had somewhat worn off, he found he enjoyed the opportunity to gaze upon her body. She was clearly physically fit, and was very well-formed in his estimation. He told himself repeatedly that it was perfectly all-right for him to admire her this way, since she was not a student and he was not her teacher, though part of him suggested that perhaps the Watcher/Slayer relationship was not so different.

It was warm enough in the room that she didn't bother pulling a blanket over herself. Why bother? It wasn't needed. And she wasn't unaware of Snape looking at her, either. She smirked slightly. He definately didn't seem to be complaining about her nudity, so why should she care? It wasn't like she had any problem with being seen this way.

She draped an arm over her eyes, blocking out the light. She wasn't sure if she could get back to sleep at this point, but hey, what was the harm in trying?

"I already told you, I'm not the Slayer before noon! And breakfast isn't until usually about 1 or 2, so I haven't missed a damn thing."

She stretched, somewhat like a cat, every muscle tensing and then relaxing. Her arm remained over her eyes, but she was not sure he was going to go away at this point. Actually, now that she was awake, she didn't really want him to go. She'd enjoyed the training sessions they'd had together more than anything she'd done either with Giles, Miss Post, or her other Watcher who's name she didn't allow herself to think about.

Snape stood at the foot of Faith's bed, his arms crossed and his toe tapping. She would learn that this behaviour was unacceptable. She would learn that, though their roles in this relationship were of equal value, they were not of equal authority. She had willingly invited him to take a position of authority over her, and he was more than prepared to exercise that authority.

"You know, I'm told your Hitler didn't get up before noon, and I believe it is well-known how that turned out for him. Listen to me carefully, for I am only going to say this once. You have one minute to rise from this ridiculous bed and dress yourself before I transport us to today's training ground. If you are not prepared in that time, I shall transport us nevertheless. Am I clear?"

Despite the pleasant sight of the young woman's naked body displayed before him, he was master of himself and of his facial expressions. He kept a severe look on his face, and meant every word that he said. Nevertheless, part of him did hope she would rebel or procrastinate, and he would have to take her naked to the site he had chosen.

She sighed and made a big show of sitting up, stretching once more, and glaring at him. Of course, she was awake now anyway, however reluctantly so. He'd made sure of that. So it was mostly a show. Though she didn't tend to like people who took control over her, with her Watcher, it was different. He could get away with things that no one else could. Not that she'd make it easy for him.

"Excuse me? If one of us is Hitler here, it's not me. You're more like a Nazi than me."

She got out of bed, went over to a overly large dresser and opened it. Still grumbling, she pulled out a pair of dark sweat pants and a red tank top, her training outfit. The clothing was clean, smelled good, and fit perfectly. This secretly delighted her. In only seconds, she was ready. She'd even made some effort to straighten her hair, though she didn't really bother much. She seldom did. She turned to face him with a smirk after a mere 30 of the 60 seconds he had given her had passed.

"Dude, what's taking you so long? Don't you want to go train?"

Snape had no clear idea what a Nazi was, but was pleased to see Faith behave as he had bidden. Now that she was following his instructions, he did her the courtesy of turning away while she dressed, not that it made much difference now that he had seen her naked. He heard her grumbling, which he found distasteful, but was more than happy when she completed her set tasks in half the time allotted. He smiled at her jest, not caring whether she had hurried to obey him or hurried to mock him, caring only that it had been done as he had said.

"I am ready, if you are."

Stepping forward, he put his hand on her shoulder and looked her in the eyes.

"Hang on to me tightly. This may not be pleasant, but whatever you do, do not let go!"

With that he Apparated himself and his Slayer out of her bedroom and away to the training ground he had selected, a narrow pillar of sandstone surrounded by the crashing surf of the ocean, separated from the mainland by a twenty-foot gap.

As bidden, she walked over to him and wrapped her arms around him. She didn't normally get this close to people, not unless she was in bed with them. This was different. She noticed idly that he smelled good. It made her uncomfortable, and the process of Apparation made it more acute. Still, she forced herself to cling onto him tightly throughout the process.

When it was over, she pushed firmly away from him and covered her discomfort in the only way she ever did, with sarcasm. She raised an eyebrow at the surroundings. It would make her nervous to be trapped here, but she had no doubt she could easily swim the gap. Anyway, he was her Watcher. Again, she smirked at him as her dark eyes surveyed the place he'd brought them too.

"Nice place you got here. Not much of a first date, you know?"

Whenever she was uncomfortable, she liked to make others feel the same way. That way, hopefully they wouldn't notice since they were so focused on themselves. It was much safer that way. She didn't even do it on purpose anymore. She stood, poised, her eyes vaguely challenging, and waited for his directions.

Snape smirked at her comment, and backed away. Sometimes, her little strategies were really quite transparent. He could tell that he had made her uncomfortable, though he knew she was trying to hide it. Well, she had better learn to get over it. It wasn't the last time he intended to Apparate with her.

"It's not a first date. That was the hurricane. This is a second date. Now, if you've finished swooning, let us begin the first exercise. The first exercise will be to throw me off this rock. If I throw you off the rock, you lose. If you throw me off the rock and I pull you with me, you lose. If that is clear, we can begin whenever you are ready."

Snape got himself into a prepared stance and drew his wand. He knew Faith was quick and he knew she was strong, and he did not intend to be thrown off right away.

She looked at him for just a second, her eyes quite open just for that small moment before she realized it and closed herself off once more. He hadn't at all reacted as she'd expected, and she found herself unsure just for a moment how to react. In the end, though, she regained most of her composure and did her best to shrug it off, act as normal.

"Yeah, well, lucky you. I'm not usually much for the whole second date thing."

She walked casually, not putting herself into any sort of stance. Just checking him out, apparently, but her eyes were intent, focused, and she'd heard every word he said to her. She was going to win this, she was determined. Suddenly, with little warning, she charged right at him, from just off to the side of where he was facing.

"Ready for a swim, Snape?"

Snape had made himself prepared for several possible strategies of attack by the Slayer, and a direct physical assault was high on the list. Raising his wand, he silently cast a charm designed to fool the Slayer's eyes into thinking he was two feet to the side of where he was. Then he stepped even farther out of the way, expecting Faith's momentum to carry her right past him. He was primarily interested in whether she had the capability to halt herself before she careened over the edge. He hoped she did, and he hoped that she could catch herself with enough stability to resist being assisted over the edge by a good shove.

At first, she showed every indication of intending to just charge him, and in fact, that was her plan. He was taller than her, but slender. She was fairly certain she could break him over her knee, if she wanted to. It would be less than no problem to toss him into the ocean.

Then, out of the corner of her eye, she caught a glimpse of movement. Him raising his wand. And she didn't know what it meant, so she slowed down a little. When she should have made contact with him, she wasn't fully surprised that she didn't.

"You're a witch?"

Her tone was disbelieving as she scanned the area, shrugged, and pounced suddenly. She had no way of knowing where Snape was, and she picked a direction and went with it. What else could she do? She, of course, picked the wrong direction and fell to her hands and knees. But she was on her feet again in less than a second.

Snape smirked, pleased that he had outwitted her. He had no doubt that she would connect with him sooner or later, she was good at what she did, he could tell. Nevertheless, he didn't want to let himself get too cocky. He had made a deal with himself to not let himself use offensive magic against her. He didn't want to rob her of her only chances.

"A wizard, actually. Did it take you this long to notice? Did you not know that before you approached me?"

He had already suspected that she hadn't, but was tired of keeping it a secret from her. It was a major part of who he was, and if they were to trust each other and work together he had to let her know. Besides, now that he knew that Nymphadora Tonks and three Weasley brats were on the Planet, he felt that it wouldn't be a secret for much longer.

As Faith leapt at him over and over again, he manoeuvred himself closer to the edge of the cliff, hoping to entice her over the edge.

Keeping a wary eye on his wand, she stopped and frowned thoughtfully. A couple of feints showed her pretty well where he was. Or so she hoped. It was hard to tell, when he used magic. But she thought she'd narrowed it down. It was time to show him what the Slayer could do.

She gathered herself and took a deep breath, facing an area just to the right of where she thought he would be. They were very close to the edge, and a miscalculation would mean that she lost. She wasn't prepared to do that. Intent on the spot to the right of where she hoped he was, she sprung in that direction. If she kept on going that way, he would have no worries, and she'd likely fling herself off the edge herself.

Of course, she had no intention of continuing on that way. Impossibly quickly, she reversed in mid-air and landed hard, tackling him to the ground. She grinned triumphantly, face flushed with the workout, and kissed him hard on the lips. It was supposed to knock him off guard. She needed him that way for her next move.

Suddenly, she pushed hard, flung herself backward, and jumped into the air. Her feet come toward him in a dropkick, and if it all worked as she had planned, she would knock him right off the edge into the water. If, of course, it all went as planned.

Snape had been expecting Faith to connect with him eventually. It wasn't that he was letting her win, it was just that he had intentionally handicapped himself, removing some of his greatest assets. Also, it had been a long time since he had been struck physically, and he had almost forgotten how unpleasant it was.

Of course, falling to the ground roughly was one thing. He felt his wand-arm fall under him, pinned and momentarily useless. It was a slightly distressing feeling. Nothing that would cause him to lose control, of course. It was quite another thing to be kissed roughly. That was extremely unexpected. He had been joking when he had told her it was a second date. Had she misunderstood? No. Too late he realized it was a ploy to throw him off-guard, a ploy that had been successful.

As he got staggeringly to his feet, his lips still feeling the imprint of the Slayer's full lips upon them, he was struck violently in the chest and forced backwards, off the edge of the pillar upon which they stood. He plummetted just out of Faith's view before casting a levitation charm on himself. He decided to wait a few seconds for dramatic effect before lifting himself back up to the top of the rock.

"Oh, hell yeah!"

The young, dark-haired woman actually jumped into the air with her fist raised triumphantly. She was high on adreneline, the only time she would ever even think of doing anything like that. Usually, she was much more mindful of appearances, about seeming to care about nothing. Only when she'd been fighting did that change.

Her laughter and celebration died down when Snape didn't make an appearance in the water below. She frowned, wondering if she'd somehow missed the splash, and he was drowning beneath her or something. Worry showed on her face, and she slowly, carefully made her way over to the edge of the pillar and peered over, trying to keep firm footing at the same time as she looked for her Watcher.

After a suitable, hopefully anxious, pause, Snape levitated himself back up to the height of the surface of the pillar. He did it quickly, and he did it right in front of what he hoped was a startled Slayer. In case she wasn't, he decided to use her own technique against her. Grabbing her by the upper arms, he pulled her a short distance towards him and kissed her.

Without waiting for her to react, he suddenly yanked her by the arms, pulling her over the edge of the rock and suspending her over the deep waters. He smirked gloatingly.

"Remember, your enemy may have many unknown capabilities. You must be prepared to deal with any eventuality. Have you a way out of this predicament?"

Secretly, part of him had been happy for the opportunity to kiss her again. Her lips were full and dark, and he found them captivating. The same part of him couldn't help but notice, as he held her bare arms, that her skin was remarkably smooth. It looked... nice.

"Mph!"

It was the only noise she got out as she was pulled forward and very thoroughly kissed. Unlike her to be caught off guard. But two could play this game, and she wrapped her arms around his neck even as he held her over the water.

"Kissing you again isn't gonna work, right? Might be fun anyway, of course..." She smiled and then leaned in as if she was about to kiss him again. But something about the uncertain energy of the situation got to her, and instead, she twisted violently in the air.

Her slender body whipped through the air, and she flipped over his head, freeing herself. Her arms were still around his neck, so he was dragged along with her. With a fairly forceful, decisive movement, she threw him to the ground. Seizing her, no doubt, momentary advantage, she settled herself comfortably on top of him, straddling his body.

"See? That's my way out. So, who won? I tossed you off, but you could have thrown me off too if you hadn't stopped to talk about it."

This time Snape had been momentarily discombobulated not by a kiss but by Faith's suggestion that she would kiss him for fun. As his mind wandered towards fantasies of long embraces with the beautiful, young Slayer, she made her move and capitalized on her strategy.

As he lay beneath her, trapped by her impressive strength, he attempted to smother the flames of lust that were licking his imagination. It was difficult, no matter how inappropriate they might be. As her current position played into his fantastic scenarios, he hoped fervently that she was not able to feel the stiffness that was forming in the area she was straddling. It would not do to jeopardize their relationship and his authority with such complications.

"I will admit that you have won. You successfully knocked me off the edge of the rock, and you not only successfully escaped being held above the water, but you managed to capture your opponent while doing so. Bravo! I am impressed. Next time I shall fight harder."

She nodded, but was frowning slightly. And it wasn't just that he had admitted that he hadn't been fighting with his full strength. The thing was, somewhere along the line, she had turned it into a real fight. Probably when she'd been held over the edge of the water, that seemed the most likely time.

"Right. We'll try again later."

Her voice had taken on a low, purring sort of sound, very throaty, very sexual. And she looked down at him with a sort of hunger burning in her dark eyes. It would be very familiar to some, and they either would have thanked god for it, or been desperately determined to escape. She had fought. And she hadn't killed. Nor would she, even if it wasn't allowed. He was her Watcher.

That left one option, then, as far as she was concerned. And from where she was sitting, it wasn't one he would mind much. She leaned down and kissed him again, forcefully, and this time her fingers wound into his long hair. She wasn't trying to catch him off guard to try to win a fight. It was a completely different story, now.

In the seconds before Faith applied her amorous intent, Snape heard the purr in her voice and saw the glint in her eye. He found it just as disarming and befuddling as any of her kisses had been. What did it mean? He sensed it heralded something unexpected.

When she actually did kiss him, what was unexpected this time was not the sensation of it, but the feeling behind it. He could sense quite clearly that she was not now kissing him to throw him off his game, as it were, to distract him, but with a more sincere passion. Whence had that come? He found this sincerity as confusing as he found it erotic. Clasping her lithe young form to him, he returned her passionate embrace, his lips burning with the promise of her sexual enthusiasm.

But then his mind recovered itself from its torpid daze, and the realization came violently to him that this was completely innapropriate. Letting Faith set the terms of their incipient erotic relationship, if they were even to have an erotic relationship, was to undermine his authority. No. He could not permit this.

Pulling his lips back from hers, he made a sudden move to roll over and throw her off of him.

"No! This cannot happen!"

She was more than a little caught off guard when he rolled her off him, which is why it happened at all. She was more than strong enough to have stayed on, if she'd been thinking about it. She landed a short distance away, and turned back to him with an undisgused expression of hurt. It soon faded away to her more customary smirk.

"Yeah, clearly it can. But, hey, no biggy. Your loss, right?"

Humiliation she might be feeling, as well as desire, but she would never allow herself to act like she wanted it, like she really cared. It wasn't her style. So she gave him a one-shoulder shrug and another of her smirks.

"Well, as much fun as it's been kicking your ass, I gotta go. Important things to do. Later."

She didn't give him a chance to respond. She didn't wait around long enough for that. Instead, she took a running start at the edge of the pillow and jumped right off it without the slightest hesitation. She hit the water in a clean dive, and started swimming to shore.

Faith's looks of hurt and humiliation bothered Snape. Had he made the right choice? Had it been a mistake to reject her advances? No. It was for the best. He had not accepted her offer of the position of Watcher merely as an avenue by which to infiltrate her underthings. In fact, at the time the offer had been made, thought of his Slayer's underthings had not even crossed his mind.

As he stood up and wandered to the edge of the pillar of sandstone to peer over and watch Faith swim away, he couldn't help but remember the feel of her body in his arms, the slight weight of her on top of him, the tickle of the tip of her tongue on his lips. If he were completely honest, he had to admit that he had enjoyed the visceral thrill of it -- his erection, after all, had not yet subsided -- but reinforcement of his authority came first. There was promise in it that had not only priority but greater scope. Perhaps later, at a time of his choosing...
