Day 12
Who: Vala & OTA => Legolas
What: A Day on the Beach
When: Day 12 late morning
Where: Beach by the lake
Rating: TBD
Status: In Progress

She had a room that was designed and decorated to suit her tastes, closets that gave her whatever clothes, lingerie, shoes and accessories that her heart desires (and it desired lots of those), and now the hurricane was gone. The weather was delightful and warm, and as soon as she had woken up and taken a look out the window, she had wanted to go exploring.

After taking her time on deciding what to wear - since her options were now quite possibly infinite - she had left the dorm to wander around and to take a proper look at the place where she was now apparently a prisoner. It did not last long for her to determine that she had been held in far worse places. The Mirage really was not that bad, but from what she had gathered from the atmosphere of the people, everybody thought it was a nightmare, and worried for home, how to get there and what was going on in there.

Vala, however, only worried about what sort of bikini to wear to the beach that she had spotted.

After another rummage through her closets she picked a black very flattering, feminine set of bikini that had bright pink decorations on them. She put her long black hair up, chose big black sunglasses to shade her eyes, put on a long but nearly see-through pink and black skirt with a wide hemline and black feminine sandals. With no other top than her bikini bra, he left her room with a smile on her lips, carrying a blanket, wine and sun block lotion in a beach bag.

Getting a tan was a good way to start her imprisonment in Mirage, she had decided, and so well before noon she had settled in the beach, her feminine shapes on display as she laid back on the blanket and basked in the sun.

Yesterday had been a very interesting day. Not the sort he would normally find all that enjoyable, actually. Sure, exploring the resort with his friend who he'd believed lost was definately an experience. He took some things for granted, he realized, when he saw the Ranger's response to them.

Also interesting had been his talk with the girl with the hair the color of the sea. The dancing with her had been very enjoyable, of course. But the talking afterward, while he didn't regret him, was a bit surprising.

After the storm of the last couple of days, the first thing he noticed when he awoke from his sleepless reverie was the lack of rain pounding in the background. Instantly, he was up, dressed in his usual outfit, and literally sprinting out of his room, down the hallway, and out the door. He sighed in soft contentment as the sun shone down on his face, lifting his spirits.

It was early, yet, just after dawn, and the elf just wandered for hours, feeling the sun on his skin. The earth didn't look soaked, which was odd after all the rain, but he shrugged it off as just a quirk of the Planet's. Finally, he made his way to the beach, and discovered he wasn't alone. Another had sought the white sands today, as well.

He stopped and just looked at her. He'd seen many things on Mirage that he hadn't seen on Middle Earth, but he had yet to see a woman dressed as she was. He frowned thoughtfully. It wasn't that he hadn't seen women naked before, for elves don't have nearly the nudity taboo that the humans do. But her clothing seemed somehow more revealing than pure nakedness did. It was odd.

Still, after a few short moments, he started walking again. Over in her general direction, because he was much too polite to simply ignore the only other person on the beach. Also, being who he was, he had a sort of curiosity about everything. He stopped again, a few yards away from the woman on the beach towel.

"Greetings... this is much preferable to the rain, is it not?"

The woman looked up at the blond man with the sunglasses on her eyes, and brushed the few free strands of black hair - thought partly striped white in the front - back from her face.

"Definitely! I hear it went on for days, but luckily I only arrived yesterday. I guess I brought the sun shine with me, didn't I," she grinned, and what a grin it was! Her smile spread widely on her face revealing her white teeth and even her gums.

Vala leaned back on her hands and crossed her long lean legs and looked at the strange man openly and shamelessly. There was something odd about him. He looked so... frail, yet he was tall and his stance was proud. And his ears! If nothing else hinted it off, then at least the ears told Vala that the man was another one not from Earth.

"I haven't seen anyone quite like you before," she purred and tilted her head. "Where do you come from?"

The tall, slender elf smiled brightly when she did, and was glad to see that she didn't seem to mind his company. So many people he'd met here seemed to enjoy their own company more than anyone else's, and it was always nice to meet someone friendly.

"If, in fact, that is true my Lady, then I am in your debt. I was sorely missing the sunshine."

He tilted his head to the side and looked at her curiously. He was fairly certain no one had ever looked at him quite the way that she was. Most might have been uncomfortable, but Legolas was comfortable enough with himself that he didn't even flinch. He just returned the appraising look, and then crouched down beside the towel to be closer to her.

"I have never seen anyone quite as you are, either... forgive me. I have been rude. I am called Legolas, and I hail from the forest of Mirkwood." He eyed her, decided there was no chance she was from his world, and added to it. "It is a large forest where I was born, on Middle Earth."

Vala enjoyed the way he looked at her with a hint of earnest curiosity but no trace of awkwardness which was a new experience for her. She was used to making men squirm in her presence, but he was different.

"And I'm Vala Mal Doran," she introduced herself in turn and extended her right arm in front of her, offering her hand. "Forest in Middle Earth?" she repeated and thought for a while. What could he mean? She did know that there were great jungles near the equator of Earth, but she had not heard that expression before. Then again, she had not been in Earth for all that long, and mostly only in Stargate Command, so it was possible she simply had not heard of the place before. She attempted connecting the dots - Middle of Earth, and a forest. Not only was her knowledge of Earth geography a bit sparse, she was also assuming things too much.

"So you must be from Mexico, then!" was her bright answer. Interestingly enough, she had skipped telling where she was from, though.

He had enough experience with humans to know that they all seemed to shake hands as a greeting. At first, he'd found it silly, but now he was fairly used to it. So, when she extended her hand, he knew that the proper response was to do the same with his and shake hers. Such an odd custom, though. It still amused him.

"... Vala? You are named for the... that is quite a claim to live up to, my Lady. Shall I compose songs to you, then?"

On his world, of course, the god figures were called the Valar, and one Valar was, of course, a Vala. He'd never heard of anyone being named that before, and it shook him for just a second. The smile was soon back on his face, though the expression was slightly confused as he looked at her.

"I have never heard of this... Mexico. I am from Mirkwood, which is near the the Misty Mountains and also fairly nearby the other elven settlements, Imladris and Lothlorien. Where is this... Mexico you speak of?"

She was quite taken aback by the proposition of composing a song for her, and had no idea what she was named after. Judging by his reaction, however, she thought it must have been something distinguished and precious, so she truly did not mind but only smiled wider.

"A song? If it tickled your fancy, Legolas, I wouldn't object to it," she answered now curious to find out more about what she was named after. She did not ask what it was, however, since that would have meant she was not named in particular after what ever the man seemed to hold in high regard. Vala preferred to have him think that anyway.

"Mexico... Oh. Nevermind, I got mixed up," she waved her hand dismissively and smiling apologetically as she covered her slip. "I travel a lot, you see, so it is sometimes easy to get confused by similar names. Never mind that, good Legolas, but sit down," she said as earnestly as she managed and patted a place beside her on the large beach towel.

He looked at her thoughtfully but accepted her invitation to sit down beside her on the towel. Whimsically, he kicked his boots off, so he could bury his feet in the sand. This ocean was such a new experience for him.

"If I gain a spare moment, then, perhaps I will compose a song for you, my Queen. I shall have to think much on which Vala you most resemble, so I will need to speak with you more, learn more about you."

He listened to her explanation and nodded, a smile still on his face as he dug through the warm, soft sand with his feet.

"Forgotten. I have travelled great distances myself, but only while on Middle Earth. Everyone here seems to be from so far away, from whole other planets."

"I don't mind at all," she smiled graciously in return to his wish to stay with her for a while. "Company is always welcome, and if said company is interesting as well as dashing, that's only even better," she grinned at him and patted his arm.

"How long have you been here then - do you know anything more about this place than what the plaque says? Is this," she waved her slim arm in a wide circle, motioning at the resort and the beach, "all that there is?"

"Well, I have decided that I like you. Rejoice!"

He grinned at her, not finding at all unpleasant to be told he was both interesting and dashing. Though this woman was completely unlike anyone he'd met before, that made her all the more intruiging to him.

"Hmm? I have been here for nearly two weeks. I know little, except that this place is surrounded by a vast desert. And, sometimes, we are forced to do things. I enjoyed the rafting trip that the Planet forced on me, but I did not enjoy being forced."

The woman sat up properly beside him and lowered her sunglasses to look at him over them. Her expression had changed from flirty to concerned in a split second. "Forced to do things? I don't understand. What sort of things?"

Now that was something that changed her vision of a lost, stranded paradise to a more grim place keeping up appearances. She knew she should not have been so surprised - the place had seemed a little too perfect so far, anyway.

He thought back to the day with the activities, and frowned pensively. It had been an odd experience, all told, being forced into a raft with people he didn't know. He'd done fine with it, of course, being fairly friendly, but he could imagine it would annoy some people.

"This Planet craves entertainment, my Queen, and several days back most of the people here were informed they were doing activities, and they were not optional. I went rafting, but others danced, or learned to cook. Things like that." He nodded. "It is as if the Planet was somehow trying to... force us to have fun."

Vala tilted her head and played with a strand of black hair, twirling it between her fingers. "No one needs to force me to have fun," she then said and leaned back again on her hands so that her slim body was extended in its full glory of sensuous shapes.

"That did not sound too bad anyways. Trying new things, that's always interesting. Although when you're forced to try new things, well, that's like elementary school all over again, isn't it," she babbled, but her interest was soon diverted once again. "What do people normal do for fun, or otherwise, here? I see there's a lot of opportunities for, well, nearly everything, but are there events? What's popular, if anything?"

He laughed, delighted by her attitude. It matched his, in a way. How unexpected to find that in a human female!

"Nor I, Lady Vala. It seems we have that in common."

He stopped for a second and watched as his burrowings in the sand dislodged a small grab, about the size of a quarter. He could watch animals for hours and never get bored, and this was no different. He didn't pick it up, just looked at it. It was a very strange looking creature.

"Well... people do different things for fun, I suppose. There are all sorts of people here, so there are all sorts of things people find fun. Is there one thing over the others? No, I think not. Not that springs to mind."

"A lot of different sorts of people means no boring moments. Always someone to meet, always something to talk about and fun to be had!" Vala answered with a smile.

She tilted her head and crossed her long legs, looking at the blond man curiously and a bit flirtingly through her dark sun glasses. "But alright then. What do you like to do for fun then?"

He laughed, a mannerism he was clearly well accustomed to, and ran his fingers through the sand idly as he watched the dark-haired girl move around.

"Yes, I cannot dispute that, Lady Vala.

He watched for a second as the tiny crab scuttled away, and then turned his gaze back to the woman. He thought for a second, before returning her smile.

"I like to explore, to learn, to hunt, to dance, to sing... and to have adventure. And what of you?"

She gasped looking delighted and surprised and took off her sun glasses in one swift movement. She looked at him with her blue eyes and leaned closer so that her shoulder touched his.

"No way!" she exclaimed. "I love all those things too! You could say I'm an adventurer by profession - I've been far and wide! I enjoy new places. Everything's so fresh and intriguing and there's loads to see and do. That's why I'm not all that upset about ending up here," she explained. Her smile was very wide and she kept looking at him intently enough to make a lesser man feel awkward.

Removing his hand from the sand, he dusted off the grains that clung to him. He'd been fairly careful, and there was none that had made its way down his bracer. Which was good, that would have been annoying.

"Do you? Ah, a kindred spirit, how wonderful! An adventurer by profession, what a lovely way to look at it! I myself have travelled nearly everywhere on Middle Earth, and though I was taken in the middle of a war, I cannot fully be saddened by this."

He turned to look at her, noticed that she was close to him, but shrugged it off. After all, they were clearly from very different cultures.

"A whole new world to explore, and one that changes. Oh, did you know about that? Have you been here long enough to see? Before, this was a place that had many horses. It changed a few days ago to this seaside retreat that you see now."
