Day 10
♦Who: Satine and Christian
♦When: Afternoon, Day 10
♦What: Reunited and catching up on the (not necessarily so) good old days
♦Where: Satine's bedroom, B213
♦Rating: G for Disney style romance
♦Status: Complete

Satine had been shaking since the previous morning. Really, she hadn't been completely certain that it was possible to feel this many emotions at one time. In the pit of her stomach, since she knew this was the afterlife, she had known that Christian would be here. Severus and Michiru seemed to have indicated that much, much time had passed since she had passed in 1899. Still, to see him there, flesh and blood, to be able to touch him again...it had been remarkable and startling. Remarkably startling? She was giddy, she was nervous, and she was a little bit frightened. Really, she'd already made a bit of a tart of herself since arriving. How could she forgive herself? Then again, he knew her, knew that she loved him...didn't he? But he'd called her a whore. For the rest of the day, while listening to the thunder and the rain, Satine had battled inside her own head.

Today, however, was a different story. Despite being a jumble of emotions, she had slept well. Her dreams had been, instead of cluttered, beautiful and soothing, and she woke feeling refreshed. After a bath in the outlandishly luxurious bathroom, and a bit of pampering, she dressed herself and fixed her hair. She chose to wear the dress from Spectacular Spectacular, hoping that it would jog his memory a bit, but she did not bother with the jewelry. Instead, she selected simpler gems. For some reason she felt that she didn't have to sparkle as brightly outside for him as she did for the public. Taking a seat by the window, she gazed out at the storm. This was the part she hated. There wasn't much else to do but wait and see if Christian would respond to her rather frantic invite the day before.

Christian practilly bounced out of bed that day,the drearyness of the storm couldnt have put a damper on his mood even if it tried.

Satine was here!whole, and very much alive!..and very much his.He was overwhelmed with emotions, even some he had never actually felt,or processed before.Even though the giddyness, and perhaps some worry, kicked in he rose, showered and quickly dressed in the first thing that was within his reach, only glancing to make he wasnt mishmatched, before heading out,his bright blue eyes scanning the numbers as he past them, pausing as he reached her door.

He gulped, his hand poised as if to knock when the fear overtook him. What if she had found another?what if she hadnt really loved him?no no he musnt think of those sour things, they were horrid thoughts and would only ruin the first actually good mood he had here(at least the first one that wasnt forced anyway).Taking a deep calming breathe he knocked, the sound loud and echoing in the strangly empty halls.

Due to the emptiness of the hallway, and her heightened senses due to her nerves, she had heard his footsteps long before she'd heard him knocking. Hopping to her feet, she hurried to the door. One bright, blue eye appeared at the peephole before she undid the latch, opening the door. And there he was. It still baffled her, really, that he was here, in this place, that seemed somewhere out of time but past death. She hadn't figured out why he looked the same as she remembered him if he had died after her...but wait! What if he hadn't gone on to live a long, beautiful, fruitful life? She looked dazed and confused, standing there with her mouth hanging open and thoughts running around inside her head just behind her eyes.

A shake of the head, red locks bouncing around her face, and she cleared the haze away. This was Christian, her Christian, and that meant that everything was going to be okay now. The how didn't really matter, did it? Nor did the why. He was here, he was hers, and that was what counted. "Christian," she sighed out. Wrapping her arms around him effortlessly, as if he was made to fit there, or her muscles easily remembered the shape of him, she hugged him tightly, nuzzling him gently. It was all so easy, all so familiar. "I was only ever cold in your arms once, and you were so far away at that moment. I never want to feel that way again. Death was the only place that you could not come with me, even if you were by my side. But you're here, now, and that is all that matters to me." A few doubts passed through her mind. Maybe he'd married after she died; maybe he had a beautiful new wife, and he had politely showed up to inform her that he no longer needed a courtesan's company. Still, she could bear that. After all, she wanted him to be happy, whether it included her or not. Worse, what if he had found someone here, had not anticipated her presence? She wouldn't think about it. She was, in secret, an impossibly jealous creature, and it was remarkably ugly when that side showed.

"Please," she laughed, reluctantly pulling away from him, holding the door aside. Her hand motioned to the interior of her room, the diamonds on the bodice of her dress sparkling in the low light. "Please, come in. I long for your company, and there's so much to say. You must think I've become a downer!" She flashed him a smile.

The interior of her room was plush and comfortable. It was the bedroom of both a courtesan and a respectable actress. The bed was large, and full of pillows, but it was not front and center. Her vanity, an extravagant thing with lights and mirrors and makeup and jewels, was off to the side as well. There was a closet, an armoire, but more prominently placed was the settee and a coffee table. There was a picture of him on it. As he moved into the room, she closed the door behind him, standing there, watching him. She had missed the way he moved.

The smile came to his face easily as they gazed at each other. He had almost fogotting how beautiful she was,his memory seemed hazy and muddled compared to what stood before him.

His arms wound their way around her, hugging her gently,as if she was a doll that would break,or that she might slip away from him once more.He listened carefully to her words, frowning, death?she had died?did that mean he was dead to?perhaps this 'planet'of sorts was the afterlife? He qwuickly shelved those thoughts,an afterlife with satine was more then enough to apease him,no matter the conquences.

"Death would not dare to keep us apart for to long""He recited, though he had long forgotting what poem it was from.

His grin widened as she gestured for him to come in,and he slid past her, shaking his head "I would never think of you as a downer, you are who you are"He answered, gazing carefully around her room,at all the things that she deemed worthy enough for her room, before his gaze landed back onto her features lightly.

"I love the manner of you," she giggled out, shaking her head at his comment. He seemed so certain, so sure that nothing in the world would keep them apart. It was refreshing. She had missed that. She paused. So did he remember her dying? And was he dead too? Pushing those thoughts to the side, Satine smiled. This was not a time for sorrow, nor a time for bad news. They had found each other, seemingly against all odds. This was a planet, after all! They could have explored for eons and never seen one another, yet they had met the previous day in the parlor. Ah, fate.

Taking a seat on the settee, Satine folded her hands in her lap, watching him adoringly. Just to have him there made the room absolutely perfect. However, it seemed that she was at a bit of a loss for words. He was the one with the flowery speech. She could listen to him for hours talking. That was why she liked him to read the script to her so much. He could have been reading the obituaries out of the newspaper, though, and it would have sounded just as interesting. "So," she chimed, head canting to the side, "how did you get here, Christian? How long have you been here? And what have you been doing with yourself since arriving?" A grin lit up her face. "I've been passing my moments dreaming of you. And here you are. My dreams are true. Now I'm up for anything."

He smiled, briefly looking round once more before devoting the entirety of his attention to her.He did not let the dreadful or curious distract him,it would only make him all the more sadder and longing for home, and why shoud he long when she she was here, real, sitting before him now.Fate was cruel, but even it couldnt bear to keep them apart.

"I suppose I arrived like everyone else"He said carefully, recalling the strange peasant women who had instructed him on the wherabouts his new home, his room, and then left him to fend for himself."Though Im not quite sure how Long I have been here, the days all seem to blur together anymore"He figured it to be about a week, maybe less? There were no such things as calendars in their time,so there was no way of knowning.

He matched her bright grin "Of course I have spent of the time dreaming of you,how could I not?"And writing, though he hadnt gotten very far with his book, though now perhaps that satine was here alive and whole with him,the block on his mind would give up its fruitless attempt.

"You flatterer," she murmured, moving to him. Her arms wrapped around his shoulders, her eyes studying his face. It was becoming less difficult to believe that he was here, and less horrible. This was, in fact, everything that she wanted. "You say the most beautiful things. You're positively charming." Leaning in, Satine kissed him softly at the corner of his lips. It was a tender, affectionate gesture.

"Now that you're here, everything seems right. Though you've seemingly been here longer than I have, so I suppose it is you who was waiting on me. I apologize for being tardy. It was necessary that I star in your play before departing in order that I might arrive. But we're going to be together now, right? I mean, not even death could keep us apart. And there's no Duke here, no Harold. It's... frightening and wonderful. Tell me, how far away do you live? Did you have to come a long way to see me?" She pouted a little, looking up at him as if inconveniencing him would be the saddest and most tragic thing in the world.

He slid his arms around her waist, meeting her gaze.It was as if the whole world had disappeared and it was only them, no duke to steal her away and no harold to pop in and out, reminding them that they had workto do and scenes to rehearse.

"Their flattering but true."he whispered, placing a soft kiss on her forhead, smiling lovingly at her words "and the most beautiful creature I've ever laid eyes on"he answered back.

He frowned slightly as she explained why she was 'tardy'though she could have shown up years from now and he wouldnt have minded, but his play?he opened his mouth slightly to tell her that he hadnt quite yet finished it, how could she star in something that was unfinished? But he hadnt the heart to ruin the moment. They were finally together, like starcrossed lovers in the aftermath, everything was frighting and wonderful and perfect all at the same time.

He lifted her hand carefully, kissing it "I would never live to far from you, even if i was on deaths made, if only just to see your beauty and kindness everyday"

"Oh Christian," Satine sighed, smiling as she leaned into him. It was nice to have someone once more, to hold and be held. His kisses gave her goosebumps, and when he held her hand her heart raced. This was love. It wasn't that artificial feeling that she forced herself into for work, but this was the genuine, the real, the true thing. Indeed, this emotion was one of the best and most genuine that she had ever experienced.

Looking into his eyes, bowing her head slightly, the courtesan giggled shyly. "We still have separate rooms, though. That's the best way to have it, you know, or I'd never get anything done, and you'd never have time to write. Though maybe someday..." Her voice trailed off. She hoped that he caught her drift.

Please to have her love back by her side, Satine hung on his every word for the rest of the afternoon. Even if they spoke of absolutely nothing, it was good enough. There was Christian, there was love, and there was more significance in the absolutely nothings and the silences than she'd ever had in her entire life. This was how a day should be spent: in good company and good spirits.
