He had not slept at all last night when he made his way from Legolas' room to his own right next door. Perhaps the only reason sleep even came to him was because he knew his friend was once more close to him. It was an odd day to be sure. One moment he was getting ready to lead his men into battle, the next he was waking up on a planet while a storm raged around him. Only to be once more united with a friend that he thought was just as lost to him as Boromir had been.
So this morning, after meeting his friend for a quick morning meal, Aragorn decided to take off and explore. He also needed time to be alone to continue to try and figure all this out. Aragorn was a man who didn't like surprises and he hated not feeling in control. He might not always be able to control the way things turned out but he did like to be in control of his life. And now he felt like it had been taken away from him in several ways.
As he walked along the main hall, he took in the things around him. It was nothing like he had ever seen before. And he found himself curiouser and curiouser the more he allowed himself to explore. He also let his thoughts wonder to feelings and thoughts that were loud within his mind. He had still felt great sorrow at the mention of his friend, Boromir, the Son of the Steward of Gondor. A great man, a fellow warrior and a great friend. He had fallen in a battle with Orcs and there had been nothing they could do. It was another reminder of just how dangerous their journey would be.His death would be one that Strider would feel for a long time.
Then there was the fact that he had been taken away at a very important time and he wondered if the others had been able to pull off the task. If the ring had been destroyed. If the others survived. It was a great burden to not know rather the others had survived. And it pained him to believe that they could have died. He needed to be there. However that was not the way it would be.
And then there was Legolas. The Elf, whom Aragorn had been so glad to see when he had woken on the beach. But strange and unsettling feelings stirred within him as the day went on yesterday. A lot of conflicting emotions, a lot of the unknown. It had been the main reason he had left last night and distanced himself today. Yes, there was much to explore here, much to discover and he would keep his words to the Elf, that he would indeed explore and uncover these things with him. Which is why he didn't do much wandering. At the end of the hall there was a room and Aragorn found himself going toward it. Some sort of strange game type room it looked to be to him, though he wasn't sure what half the things within the room were. Shrugging, he went to the over sized window that looked out at the beach. The storm was still raging outside, keeping him inside. He sat the window seat under the window and looked outside.
The storm was mesmerizing as the rain fell, the wind blew causing the trees to sway dangerously in the wind. The tide rushed up the surf almost engulfing it then disappeared again for only a second. It reminded him of turmoil. Much like he had been in back on Middle Earth and much like he was now. He wasn't sure how long he sat there, but soon he was so lost within the storm it did not matter.
