Who: Aragorn and OTA!
When: Early Morning
Where: The main building for starters, perhaps stumbling into a game room or something.
What: Walking and thinking. Trying to come to terms with the fact he is here.
Rating: PG for now. If it needs to be changed then I will.
Status: complete

He had not slept at all last night when he made his way from Legolas' room to his own right next door. Perhaps the only reason sleep even came to him was because he knew his friend was once more close to him. It was an odd day to be sure. One moment he was getting ready to lead his men into battle, the next he was waking up on a planet while a storm raged around him. Only to be once more united with a friend that he thought was just as lost to him as Boromir had been.

So this morning, after meeting his friend for a quick morning meal, Aragorn decided to take off and explore. He also needed time to be alone to continue to try and figure all this out. Aragorn was a man who didn't like surprises and he hated not feeling in control. He might not always be able to control the way things turned out but he did like to be in control of his life. And now he felt like it had been taken away from him in several ways.

As he walked along the main hall, he took in the things around him. It was nothing like he had ever seen before. And he found himself curiouser and curiouser the more he allowed himself to explore. He also let his thoughts wonder to feelings and thoughts that were loud within his mind. He had still felt great sorrow at the mention of his friend, Boromir, the Son of the Steward of Gondor. A great man, a fellow warrior and a great friend. He had fallen in a battle with Orcs and there had been nothing they could do. It was another reminder of just how dangerous their journey would be.His death would be one that Strider would feel for a long time.

Then there was the fact that he had been taken away at a very important time and he wondered if the others had been able to pull off the task. If the ring had been destroyed. If the others survived. It was a great burden to not know rather the others had survived. And it pained him to believe that they could have died. He needed to be there. However that was not the way it would be.

And then there was Legolas. The Elf, whom Aragorn had been so glad to see when he had woken on the beach. But strange and unsettling feelings stirred within him as the day went on yesterday. A lot of conflicting emotions, a lot of the unknown. It had been the main reason he had left last night and distanced himself today. Yes, there was much to explore here, much to discover and he would keep his words to the Elf, that he would indeed explore and uncover these things with him. Which is why he didn't do much wandering. At the end of the hall there was a room and Aragorn found himself going toward it. Some sort of strange game type room it looked to be to him, though he wasn't sure what half the things within the room were. Shrugging, he went to the over sized window that looked out at the beach. The storm was still raging outside, keeping him inside. He sat the window seat under the window and looked outside.

The storm was mesmerizing as the rain fell, the wind blew causing the trees to sway dangerously in the wind. The tide rushed up the surf almost engulfing it then disappeared again for only a second. It reminded him of turmoil. Much like he had been in back on Middle Earth and much like he was now. He wasn't sure how long he sat there, but soon he was so lost within the storm it did not matter.

Ivy hated to leave her room that morning. It still resembled a grove in the rain forest with a thick canopy of trees and a floor covered with exotic flowers and greenery. The only signs that this was actually a room were the large window and the bathroom behind a door nearly covered in creeping ivy. It was a paradise as far as the redhead was concerned but no one can stay in paradise for long, not when there was so much more to explore. Yesterday Ivy and Harley had only cover perhaps a quarter of the resort and spent most of the time relaxing and re-cooperating from their stay at Arkham. Today Ivy decided she would finish exploring the main building on her own and finally resigned herself to putting on some clothes. In the privacy of her own room she preferred to go au natural but that simply wouldn't be appropriate in resort. With any luck she might even meet a few of the other residents. She dressed quickly in long gray embroider cotton skirt and a white quarter sleeve shirt before adding a rain jacket over it all, tucking her red curls underneath the hood before putting on a pair of boots.

The trek to the main building didn't take long but then Ivy was walking in a fast pace to get inside once more. Once she was in, she deposited her rain coat on a nearby coat rack while taking off her boots to walk barefoot. There was no point in dragging water in all over the building after all and she would be more comfortable without them. Ivy's first stop of the day was the restaurant where she quickly grabbed a bite to eat and some orange juice before she started to explore. As the red head had noted the day before, this place was truly amazing. She poked around the fitness center and training room for a few moments before making her way toward the game room. So far the red head had yet to encounter anyone and hadn't expected that to change at this hour of the morning. When she poked her head into the game, Ivy almost left again when she realized there was another person in the room.

Finally, she thought. At least it's not just Harley and I who are trapped here. The red head approached the man from behind and greeted him. "Hello there", she said with a faint smile, glancing at the window he was staring out at. "Miserable weather we're having, isn't it?"

There was a battle brewing deep within his head. Thoughts warring over which would come to the forefront. He wondered if the inside of his head mirrored what Middle Earth must look like now. Worried eyes were closed as the Ranger rested his head against the cool glass. Allowing his thoughts to rage the war that he knew he was powerless to stop. He was a man with a strong sense of honor and loyalty and it felt like it was all being tested yet there was also a strange sense of finality over that part of his life.

His tunic and leggings were clean and actually new. Just as Legolas had told him the night before, he only need to focus and his room would be the way he wanted and everything he needed would be right there within grasp. So this morning he had dressed in his tunics and leggings and his simple cloak, and he decided probably against his better judgment to only carry his sword with him, since he would not be without it. Besides he wasn’t quite sure he would even need to defend himself. According to his friend, most people here were friendly minus one or two that Legolas had encountered. He remembered the man with quite odd eyes that the Elf had mentioned and reminded himself to keep his eyes opened. His hair was combed, not quite dishelmed like it had been yesterday. In fact everything on the outside looked quite like it should. It was the inside that he felt was changing.

Upon hearing a voice, Aragorn jumped slightly, immediately coming out of his thoughts. He had not heard not felt anyone approach which was not exactly a good thing. He needed to make sure he didn’t let that happen again. He turned his head, his eyes squinting to study the newcomer, his brows furrowed, his lips pursed. He knew thanks once more to Legolas, that there were many different people in this place he just hadn’t meant to run into any of them this soon. He hadn’t gained his own bearings. But still, it would be rude not to speak. Besides what could it hurt. The woman standing in front of him looked harmless enough.

“Quite miserable, indeed. Not what I am used to.” Aragorn smiled at her in a friendly manner and moved away from the window.

“Then it is true that there are more trapped here on this planet?” It was his way of making small talk. Something he honestly was not at all quite good at.

“Apparently so”, Ivy agreed as she took a step forward and looked over this man. His clothes were rather different then what Ivy was use to and reminded the doctor of historical costumes. “Of course, you’re only the second person I’ve encountered here so I have no idea just how many people are trapped here. Judging by the number of rooms, I would say quite a few”. With a curious expression on her face, Ivy moved forward another step and offered the man her hand. “My name is Ivy”, she offered. Technically she was lying, her name was Pamela Isley but the criminal had long dispenses with her first name and only Harley was the only one who got away with calling Ivy ‘Pam’ or ‘Pammie’. Telling Harley to do anything different would be like talking to a wall but Ivy didn’t really mind.

The hand she offered Aargon was pale and without the trace of green that normally coloured her skin but then Ivy wasn’t getting nearly enough sun lately. “So what is your name or shall I just call you tall, dark and handsome?” she joked. Once she let go of his hand, Ivy made her own attempts at small talk although it was debatable how good her small talk skills were. Considering the situation they were in, small talk was rather difficult with all the more important questions to be concerned with.

“How long have you been here? I just arrived yesterday myself”.

Aragorn had not heard of this lady which meant that Legolas had probably not encountered her. So he would be mindful. It was just the way he was. And with the way he had left and the things he had went through in the last several months, being mindful of those around you was not a bad idea. "I have only encountered one person here and I actually know him." Aragorn smiled a little as he thought of Legolas. He moved, extending his hand and shaking the woman's offered one. His hands were war and sword calloused, an unfortunate side affect of his world.

He smiled a little at her words and chuckled. "I go by many names, but I can't ever recall that being one of them. My name is Aragorn, Son of Arathorn." Pulling back, he ran a hand through his hair. He doubted such formalities were needed here but it was habit. He figured only Legolas would know or care about who his father was.

"I just arrived yesterday as well. So I guess neither of us could really answer the other's questions. But the company is still much appreciated."

"Too bad", Ivy said. "I would be lying if I didn't say I was hoping you might have the answer that could explain all this", she gestured to the room. "But then perhaps no one has the answer", the red head added. "My friend Harley insisted she's responsible for our arrival here but I find that rather hard to believe. Harley is sweet but she hardly has that kind of brain power". Ivy mused over Aragorn's name, wondering if she had heard it before but decided no, she hadn't. She certainly didn't hear it in Arkham anyway and the criminal was sure she would have heard of a man like Aragorn in Gotham. Not many people dressed like him.

"Aragorn is an unusual name for where I'm from so I'm curious to know, where are you from Son of Arathorn?" Ivy asked, her voice a mix of curiosity and amusement. "Something tells me it's a far stretch from Gotham city, my usual residence". If you don't count Arkham, Ivy silently added but she wasn't about to tell a complete stranger she had just escaped from a prison for the criminally insane. She didn't need him alarming the others. As long as no one got on her bad side, Ivy could be perfectly sane anyway so the really was nothing to worry about.

Aragorn laughed as this place was strange and certainly there were people here that he had never seen before. He was suddenly even more glad of the fact that he at least knew one person here very well. And one person who would know the things Aragorn spoke of. "I am afraid I know one person here who has been here a few days longer than myself and the only thing he could tell me is that we are trapped here." He frowned, sighing softly as he ran a hand through his hair. " Perhaps no one is responsible for us being here. But whatever it is that brought us here surely picked the wrong time." His mind was once more back on the war back home and of course all the things that came with it.

"Middle Earth.. Arathon of course was my father. I should think it is not even from the same place as no one I know ever quite looked like you. Not even Arwen." At the mention of he beloved and promised, Aragorn frowned. Though she was still not the closet thing on his mind, she was still there and he had a lot to figure out. "So Ivy, tell me of this.. Gotham.."

Middle earth? Ivy raised an eyebrow at his answer and tried to figure out where Middle Earth was suppose to be. Another planet perhaps? The suggestion wasn’t as strange as it sounded as they were supposedly on another planet and Ivy’s world did know of Aliens. Like that guy in Metropolis, the one they called Superman. Supposedly he was from another planet. Either way, it didn’t really matter Ivy decided. As long as she wasn’t stuck in some desert waste land then she was happy wherever. The red head smiled when Aragon said he had never seen someone quite like Ivy. “I am a rare specimen”, she admitted with a smile.

“Gotham? Oh, it could take a lifetime to describe Gotham city but I’ll keep it short and save you the boredom”. Ivy paused thoughtfully, tilting her head slightly as she thought of the city. “It can be a rather dreadful place at times. Dark, dreary, full of smog and it has a high crime rate, but the crime was even worse before Batman came along”, she admitted. “The only redeemable spot in the whole city is probably Robinson Park. It’s a lovely place, full of trees and plants”. Ivy’s expression took on a dreamy quality as she thought of her home but it didn’t last long as the woman glanced back at Aragon.

“I’m a bit of a nature-lover”, she explained. “Perhaps that’s why being here doesn’t bother me so much. There’s more greenery then buildings from what I’ve seen”. Since he had asked about her home Ivy supposed it was only polite to show the same interest. “What’s your Middle Earth like?”

He listened, interested in learning more about others that were on this planet. It was honestly quite interesting to see people that he wasn't even sure were from his own planet. He smiled at the notion of her being a nature lover as he himself had spent a lot of time outdoors and he was rather fond of it, despite most of the time he was outdoors to travel, protect or carry out a fool's mission.

"Batman? ..." There was a mild sense of amazement and even curiosity to his voice. Surely that was not literal.. and he wondered if he was anything like Orcs. "I much appreciate the outdoors myself. Though I hardly the time to enjoy them."

Upon being asked about his home, the smile left his lips, his eyes clouded over in grief and pain.He didn't like showing emotions to those he did not know but it was still so raw and he didn't guard himself as he would have before. "I came from Rivendell , a much pleasant and beautiful place to live amongst the elves. Unfortunately, war came to us and I am afraid I was taken at one of the most important times, a very crucial time to my people." He thought he had failed all those who were counting upon him. Especially Boromir, a dear friend who had given his life and now Aragorn was certain he would fail him by not being able to help and save Gondor.

It wasn’t hard to see that Aragon was feeling more than the usual homesickness as he described his home but Ivy quickly understood when Aragon mentioned a war. No wonder he’s upset if that’s the state his world was in when he left, Ivy thought. “That is quite troubling for you I imagine”, she said sympathetically. “While I have no strong urge to return to Gotham I hope for your sake whatever is keeping us here gives you a chance to get back to your people”. The way he said that and the way he had introduced himself to Ivy a few moments ago had the red head thinking. Was Aragon a leader of some sort?

“Do you think you’re people will be able to hold their own in your war before you can get back?” she asked curiously, not so much for offering comforting words, more because Ivy simply wished to know. She was not the comforting sort after all but Ivy could show a bit of sympathy. War was never a good thing, for both people and plants alike. “It’s a shame there’s no way to contact them”, she added. “I’ve tried the few phones I’ve seen around this place but so far nothing but I suspect that’s little use to you....”

It was not about him taking his place as the next King of Gondor. It was about making a promise, several to be exact and not be able to keep them. He still wondered if Frodo and Sam destroyed the ring. If his people fell to the darkness. It was a lot to worry about and speculate on. "I fear it may be too late. I was taken just as we were to march on the Black Gates to provide a distraction for our friends to do what they needed. I don't know if they were able to do it.."

He frowned softly and then shook his head, looking at the red head. "That I do not know.We were greatly outnumbered even before I was taken. With Legolas being here as well, they were two down. I am sure they did their best." He paused once more and took a deep breath. "It is just as well. Though if they did succeed, I suppose they would once more move on without their ruler of Gondor. "

He wasn't quite sure what she was talking about. "I'm sorry. Phones? What are phones? Our worlds must be completely different indeed. Did you leave many people behind?" He asked , getting the sense that this woman wasn't hard but not exactly the soft, kind women he was used to. Nothing like Arwen..... which again was odd he hadn't really thought of the one who was said to own his heart.

“Telephones are machines used for communication over long distances but it hardly matters here since they don’t work”, Ivy replied with a shrug. So tall dark Aragon was a ruler? Interesting, it seemed the planet was capturing people from all walks of life. From criminals like Harley and Ivy to rulers like Aragon although Ivy silently admitted he didn’t look like her idea of ruler.

Then again, he is from another world. Possibly a more primitive world?, the red head wondered but it wasn’t important to her. When Aragon asked her about people the red head might have left behind, Ivy chuckled, shaking her head. “No, not really”, she admitted. “I’m not exactly a people person and the only person I—“ Ivy broke off suddenly, slightly started that she was about to admit she loved Harley. “Care about”, she continued after a beat, “Is here with me”.

Speaking of Harley made Ivy think of her friend and wonder what the blond woman could be up to at the moment. If I know Harley it’s either two things; Either she’s still asleep or she’s neck deep in trouble. Ivy idly glanced around the room, her brilliant green eyes searching for a clock. At this time if could be anything. With a sigh, Ivy realized she couldn’t leave her friend alone for long and decided to make sure Harley hadn’t burnt down her room or something silly like that.

“I’m afraid I should be going”, Ivy said regretfully. “I should really check up on my friend, I am afraid she’s got a horrible habit of getting into trouble if I don’t keep an eye on her. It’s been a pleasure Aragon and hopefully I shall see you around the resort”. Ivy spared a smile for the dark haired man before turning an leaving the room to search for Harley.

(OOC: I think that's a wrap. Feel free to change the thread status if you like ^_^)
