Day 9 // Open
Who: Sub-Zero and OTA (Also open to multiple characters)
When: Day 9,evening
Where: The beach
Why: Arrival
Rating: TBD
Status: In progress

Lighting ripped through the sky at odd intervals as the rain poured down into a swirling black ocean. It was a hellish night for a new arrival but luckily this arrival was use to harsh weather conditions. He washed up on shore, coming to on the wet sand just at the shoreline. It was quite a shock considering that when he was last awake Sub-Zero had been on a plane heading for JFK International airport. Did the plane crash? the drenched warrior wondered as he hauled himself to his feet and tried to wipe the water and sand off of his face with little luck. Something had certainly happened and Sub-Zero thought he remembered lightening before passing out.

The groggy feeling in his head didn’t last long for Sub-Zero’s training would not allow such weaknesses to disable him. It one wasn’t always aware of their surroundings then they became an easy target. No one could ever accuse the legendary ninja to be an easy target, not even Scorpion. Of course, Sub-Zero hardly looked like much of a warrior now with his drenched black slacks, heavy wet sweater and shoeless feet. It appeared he had lost his shoes and jacket in the ocean but Sub-Zero hardly gave it a thought. Instead he focused his energy on taking in his surroundings, a hard thing to do considering the storm. Sub-Zero moved out of the water and further onto the sand when his eyes picked out a light up ahead. Once he saw one light others appeared and he steadily moved forward, shielding his eyes from the rain until he could see an outline of buildings.

The warrior was about to head for them when he became aware that he wasn’t alone. Whoever it was hadn’t made any noise or given themselves aware but Sub-Zero could sense their presence and slipped into a easy stance as he turned to see who it was. His arms hung loose at his side, his feet wide apart as Sub-Zero’s dark brown eyes searched through the darkness. Those eyes didn’t stay brown for long as Sub-Zero tapped into his abilities. It was subtle, just a simple gathering of cold air around him but his eyes took on a icy blue hue as the warrior called out.

“I know you’re there. Show yourself!”

Things weren't making any sense at the moment. As far as Trinity knew she had been leaping for her life across a building in fear of an Agent coming after her. She had been back in New York, hacked into the Matrix trying to find a way across the many digital block Agent smith had devised. Machines were tricky, but so was she.

Her search had led her to an abandoned hotel that was wired to the core with traps by the agents. It was only a matter of time before she realized this and made a run for it. The bottom floors had been cut off so she ran to the roofs. The last thing she remembered was running... running as fast as she could through the blistering rain before taking a leap of faith into the abyss when all of a sudden things went black... she recalled the lightning so distinctly.

A few moments later, Trinity opened her eyes to find herself standing on a beach. It was strange, she had to catch her footing or she would have easily fallen backwards due to the strong winds. Her glasses became useless-- it was all ready dark to begin with and the rain hitting her face made her visibility low. Her stance was calm, her mind was blank while she took a good view about her.

A beach? In New York? How was this possible? Certainly, she wasn't dead-- she knew she wasn't. The Matrix had probably created something different in order to trap her....but this place... it looked like a freakin' monsoon or something. She tried to took a step forward but found that her heeled boots would sink into the wet sand, she changed her walk into a trot as she moved about leaving the shoreline and moving towards the inland. Out through the curtains of rain she could distinctly see buildings, obviously she wasn't isolated in some program after all. Her main thought was to go towards the buildings but considered it a bit dangerous. What if the agents were waiting for her-- what if this was all just a trap?

Trinity grinded her teeth and clenched her fist. She was far from angry now, she figured if she had taken down an agent in the past she would do it again... all she wanted was one damn phone call. She began her trot once more.

A few meters more, she realized there was somebody else washed up on the shore but held no intention of going to check them-- everything could be a trap. She stealthy disappeared into the environment as she watched this man get up and begin to walk. He didn't seem dangerous, his attire was no where near that of any of her team or the agents... but Trinity still held her doubts. She followed him, feeling her thigh for her trust handgun as she moved on, trying to keep lost in all the noise and movement of the wind. Obviously it was working, until he stopped... she sensed a change had occurred in him.

If someone had been watching this man, they would have thought him mad for talking to himself, but as if by magic, Trinity appeared standing a few feet behind him, her hand holding onto the handle of her gun in its holster on her thigh, standing unmoved by the wind. Her training let her control her environment after all.

"Here I am!"

She said out loud over the raging wind, her face serious and grave, her stance ready for anything. She wasn't taking any chances with this guy after all.

The woman appeared suddenly behind and Sub-Zero turned to face her but she was hard to pick out in the darkness. At first all Sub-Zero could see was a pale face but another flash of lightening revealed the rest of her for a brief moment. "Indeed", Sub-Zero replied but his words were lost in the wind. He noticed her hand resting on the gun at her hip and spoke loudly, "That won't do you much good if you plan on shooting me". It was doubtful that was her plan however since, if it was, she probably would have tried it by now.

Being that she was the first person Sub-Zero had encountered in Mirage, he automatically assumed she knew this place. It didn't occur to him that had arrived just as he had but then Sub-Zero was under the impression that his plane had mysterious crashed. "What is this place?" He cried out over the wind. "Have any other survivors washed up on shore?"

At that question, Sub-Zero looked back at the shore line, his icy eyes attempting to search through the darkness for any sign of life. So far there was nothing. It would be hard to search for any of the others now in this weather, a sensible voice told him. It's unlikely anyone else survived. Sub-Zero frowned, if that was the case then how had he survived?

What this place is? Survivors? What the hell was he talking about, she thought to herself as he shouted some sort of threat. Was he an agent? He didn't seem so threatening yet his cool demeanor was warning her otherwise. She was taking a step towards death she thought as she loosened her stance and trudged forwards towards him, it wasn't any use screaming away like idiots.

"I don't know what your talking about and I was hoping maybe you could tell me where we are." She said a bit louder than usual for him to fear as she began to close the gap between them, her black trench coat lugging her down with every uneasy step. Her hand no longer on her thigh but on her hip-- there was a hidden knife on a strap on her back he probably didn't know about.

It wasn't until she stood about three steps away from him that he eyed him closely. He was of Asian decent and was clearly not an agent. "Are you a program of some sort?" She said as her eyes behind her glasses caught his incredibly cold looking blue ones.

Wonderful. This woman didn't know anymore than he did but her questions were far stranger than Sub-Zero's. "Program? What are you talking about? No, I was on a plane and it must have crashed. How else would I have gotten here?" Since she was closer there was no need to yell but he still had to keep his voice somewhat loud in order to be heard.

For a moment Sub-Zero had wondered if she had been on the plane but clearly that wasn't right since the stranger had no clue what he was talking about. The warrior spared one more glance for the turbulent waves before making a decision of what to do. There was nothing he could do for any of the other crash victims now so the next course of action was to seek shelter.

"I'm going to those buildings in the distance", he informed Trinity, gesturing toward them. "I suggest you come along. There's nothing we can learn here about this place". While Sub-Zero was initially wary about turning his back on her, it couldn't be helped as he turned to make his way toward the buildings.

Trinity wasn't in the mood for this. Really, she wasn't. Thank goodness those glasses of hers covered her eyes because he would have caught a very murderous glare. Seriously, to Trinity, he had stated the obvious in a sense. There was a storm and it seemed that the only thing to do was to walk towards buildings, I don't need a stranger to tell me that.

"You speak the obvious..." she said under her breath as he walked on towards the building, giving the waves one last look. He had been on a plane and she had been leaping a building. None of this made sense. He was a normal civilian by the looks of it-- how did the agents get to him? Now that she thought about it, this place did seem a bit more different then the Matrix. It was a strange feeling, like there was some sort of pressure being lifted from her shoulders. To be completely honest, she couldn't help but feel that same feeling of reality that came from returning to the Real World. Things were seriously strange.

Her attention turned back to the man who was all ready a good ways from her and she followed, her coat flowing madly about her. She didn't want to break it to the guy that perhaps there was someone waiting to blow their brains out in the buildings or something. It wasn't a negative thought, Trinity was just being cautious. She caught up to him keeping beside him and to his speed.

"I don't trust this." She said out loud finding some sort of peace within her to at least deal with this guy for the time being, "we could be walking into some kind of trap. You better be as gutsy and brave as you give off." She eyed him with her stern blue eyes.

"You don't need to trust this", Sub-Zero retorted. "But if you have a better idea, I'm all ears". The fact that she thought a simple building could be a trap was a little baffling for Sub-Zero but she did have a point. It would be foolish to be unprepared for an attack. "Take out your gun then", he suggested as they moved closer to a large building. "Perhaps it will make you feel better", he added in a slightly sarcastic tone. There were other small building but Sub-Zero decided the best place to start was the largest building. It had the most lights on and as the pair drew closer he could see a bit of movement in the higher windows.

Sub-Zero kept the cold air around his body, his eyes still icy and his body ready for an attack as he grabbed the door handle. He flung it open without hesitation and moved in quickly. It was large, empty room that reminded the warrior of a lobby of sorts, not unlike that of a hotel. Upon entering, he turned around surveyed the area just to be sure that it was empty.

No one's here, he silently assessed as he moved further into the lobby. "Oh, clearly a trap", he said in a sardonic tone when he notice a blinking red light out of the corner of his eye. There was a large counter off to one side of the room with a series of cubby holes with keys and little lights above them. Two of those lights were blinking.

The way this guy talked so simple making this situational just trivial was worrying Trinity. Her eyes stayed ahead of her keeping alert on everything about her as they got closer to the building. S

Trinity was getting the faint expression that the guy knew something she didn't. As much as she would have liked to take her gun out of its holster and hold it, she was being stubborn by not following what the man said. Silence was a virtue and anger was a gift. If the guy kept going off with that mouth of his, she was going to teach him a few tricks...

The walk towards the building was quiet and when she saw the guy was deciding to lead, she felt it was only polite to provide backup-- a small knife appeared at her side as she moved forward into the lobby, it wasn't until she passed him through the lobby that she realized the man was...freezing? It was strange, she swore that the closer she got to the guy the colder it got....Trinity just ended up dismissing the thought as she walked into the vacant lobby.

Nobody. This place was empty and that really wasn't an assuring thought. Trinity's footsteps were making no sound on the rather brightly lighted floor only the several droplets that fell from her hair or her clothing made any sound. Her eyes caught sight of cubby holes and walked towards them curiously ignoring his comment about a threat. She saw two keys on either one and took one reading a small inscription on it-- her lips broke into a smirk.

"I don't know, you tell me." She said tossing him a pair of keys as she took her own. "That's an interesting name, Sub-Zero." She said quietly before turning on her heals and walking towards the hallway towards some stairs- she never took elevators, she might as well see what this place was sending her too.

Sub-Zero’s icy eyes narrowed at the sound of his name. His reflexes were quick as his hand shot up to catch the keys and there on the tag was his name along with F103. The metal key grew cold in his hand as his feelings wavered between confusion and anger. Someone had obviously brought him here intentionally and might have crashed his plane intentionally. If the plane even crashed. Sub-Zero was beginning to doubt that now since he had a sneaking suspicion on who might have brought him here. Shang Tsung had abducted others in the past and brought them to his island for the Mortal Kombat tournament so it wasn’t hard to believe that perhaps the old sorcerer might be up to his old tricks.

But this place looks nothing like Shang Tsung’s island and the last I heard he was in the Outworld. This was very confusing but Sub-Zero didn’t have long to dwell on this as he noticed the woman had left the room. Seeing that she was the only sign life Sub-Zero had encountered, he wasn’t about let her take off. At least not without asking a few questions, like her name for example. Half jogging, the warrior made his way to the staircase and soon caught up with the woman. “Wait”, he called. “Who are you? What did you mean by that program comment earlier?”

The woman had claimed that she didn’t know this place earlier on the beach but she had been on edge and spoke of a program which lead Sub-Zero to believe that she might have her own theories about this place. Even if he was wrong it wouldn’t hurt to get a name. If any of Sub-Zero’s suspicions were correct they were going to be stuck here together for a while.

Trinity wasn't loosing anytime to get to the bottom of all of this. If this was truly some type of program placed to trick her, then this Sub-Zero individual shouldn't be here. She couldn't simply or assume he even knew what the Matrix was but by his name and origin she figured he was from else where.

She kept moving through the hallway eying a few doors she passed following the sign on the walls leading her towards the stairwell. Trinity seemed very out of place -- everything was colorful and happy and there she was, dressed in black with a rather morbid look on her face. She heard the man behind him speak and she grinned -- she would be upset too if someone knew her name before she knew theirs. In all due respect, he wasn't fast enough for her.

Her right foot stretched out to kick open the stairway door she was relieving some stress, and took a few steps up the stairwell staring up contemplating if this was a good idea. If there were any agents, they would have been in the lobby waiting to ambush them not upstairs. Trinity heaved a sigh as she looked at her reflection on a mirror beside the staircase.

"Wait. Who are you? What do you mean by the program comment earlier?"

Trinity tilted her head towards the man who followed her and frowned. Certainly he was in a danger if there really was a threat. She gave him points for following her but still.... he would probably just get in her way. "I'm assuming you are also startles by seeing a key with your name on it as if someone were expecting you. I also assume that you can find a name in your mind of who can probably be the cause of it." She spoke calmly walking down a few steps towards him. "Well so can I." She stopped at that not giving a name yet as she placed her key in a coat pocket.

Sub-Zero fought the urge to sigh. It was apparent this woman was not going to be very open to sharing information with her elusive answer but he was use to such secrecy. After all he was a member of Lin Kuei, one of the most secretive organizations in the world. Few assassins from there ever gave straight answers and Sub-Zero had to wonder what sort of woman this was. She carried a gun, wore all black and could move very quickly and quietly when she wanted to. To believe that this stranger was an assassin wasn't too far fetch. "I have my theories but they don't completely explain this situation and I'm sure they're quite different than your theory. Perhaps if you would be so kind as to share what you think is going on here we might be able to figure this out", Sub-Zero said in a cold voice that barely masked his annoyance.

Do not get frustrated!, he silently ordered. Frustration and anger would only lead to rash mistakes as far as Sub-Zero was concerned. "I don't know where we are for certain but if I am right, if Shang Tsung is behind all this then we are not only trouble, we're also going to be stuck here for sometime", he admitted to the woman. Perhaps by sharing what he believed, the woman might loosen her tongue but the warrior didn't plan on holding his breath. Instead he moved forward, further into the hallway and took in his surroundings. There was still no sign of anyone else and the interior had a western design. "This cannot belong to Shang Tsung. It's far too American", he murmured as he idly touched a painting on the wall.

"It must be a new foe".

"Shang Tsung?" She repeated out loud giving him a curt look as she thought. Whoever Sub-Zero was, she figured he lived in a pretty messed up world too if he was having problems like this. There was always going to be a bad guy and by the sound of it, she figured the guy wasn't very nice. The comment about things being a bit too American looking was dully noted -- she had been trying to think of any places she had ever seen in the Matrix that looked like this.

"I'm afraid my hypothesis on the matter is a bit more complicated then just one guy." She continued as she walked back out the door beckoning him to follow her, she wanted to look about before looking for where the key led her. "I don't think you've ever heard of agents or the matrix have you?"

Sub-Zero's frown deepened at the woman's words. "No, I have not heard of anything called the 'Matrix' and as for agents, I have no idea what you're talking about", the warrior admitted. After a moment's hesitation, he followed her into the other room and looked around. But he wasn't as interested in the room as he was knowing what the woman was talking about. "What is this Matrix you speak of and how does it have to do with any of this?" he added, gesturing at the room. For all appearances, this room was rather average with couches, chairs, a few coffee tables and the odd bookcase or two. It seemed that Trinity and Sub-Zero had come upon the sitting room for the resort, a room didn't provide Sub-Zero with any more answers than the hallway or the lobby had.

"This is ridiculous", he murmured. "Why were we brought to such a mundane place?" It was very unusual for Sub-Zero. On the few occasions he brought somewhere against his will, it was never to place such as a resort. Usually it was dangerous terrains like the Outworld to compete in Mortal Kombat tournaments or to places of extreme climate and dangerous as part of his Lin Kuei training. Before any of the students could even become Lin Kuei warriors they had to survive on their own in either the mountains or the desert, a test to see if they were truly worthy. If Sub-Zero had been left in that situation, he would have understood the purpose but for all appearances this place had no purpose.

All that talking, all that inpatiance was starting to hit a nerve to Trinity. So he was angry and confused, did he assume that she wasn't? Why the hell would she want to be in a resort in the middle of no where- she had a job to do, she needed to find Morpheus, she needed to help Neo...

Neo... she though as a surge of butterfly's took over her stomach, bit she simply just ignored it placing a hand over it making it seem like she was sick or something.

She had a crush on the guy but, well, it wasn't a place to think about this right now, Zub Zero's egocentric personality was pushing her wrong buttons.

"I honestly don't know why we were brought here, I'm more interested with the how."

What good was telling him about the matrix? It wasn't worth the confusion or even the time- he didn't care obviously, and curiosity of a subject could only last so long. "I think the last thing to do is check where the keys lead to."
