Shannon jumped and bit her tongue trying not to scream, instinctively scrambling away before opening her eyes to see that it was Dean who had dropped down beside her. Her heart felt like it had jumped into her throat. "Are you okay?" she gasped.
The lizards were still hissing and making a terrible commotion on the other side of the golems. She and Dean wouldn't be safe hiding back here a whole lot longer, the way she figured it. "Can we go now? Please?" she asked in a watery voice, swallowing thickly as she looked back at him.
As far as she was concerned, the sooner they made a run for it and got the hell out of there, the better, even if it meant they were cowards. She was pretty sure the lot of the lizards that had been in the halls were in the room with them, now, because there hadn't been that many of them in the first place. The bulk of them had been in the kitchen.
