"L!" Laura yelled out, slamming open the double doors at the back of the theater. One of them, the one that had gotten the brunt of her strength, flew off of its hinges and clattered to the floor. Really, the woman had never had occasion, save for once, to use her strength. Her speed was more common. Now, she was angry, and she was a woman on a mission: find L and keep him safe. Who would have thought that the one moment that she wasn't on guard was the one moment that damage might befall him? She had been focusing, but it was difficult. The whole place was chaos, and human beings were moving everywhere. His light was somewhere in the resort, somewhere in the buildings, but she wasn't sure where. Everything was moving too fast.
When she saw the lizards, which she couldn't sense, there was a moment of pause. "These are the strong, nasty, marauding lizard men?" she asked, incredulous. They were playing dress up and making mischief with the seats! They were more like naughty children than any fierce army of creatures bent on the destruction of all they held dear. This was minorly annoying at best. "You have got to be kidding me. Fuck my life." She paused. "Ugh. Whatever it is!"
Unfortunately, it seemed that her commotion had drawn some attention. Their primary goal was to kidnap people and take them off of the resort to god knows where, and Laura looked like a viable target. She was just a woman, after all, was she not? A housewife from the Midwest who moonlighted as a travel agent. Not a threat, easy to pick up and run away with. One, covered in foam and looking like a snow lizard, hissed at her in a language that she didn't understand. Not wanting to be at a disadvantage, Laura kicked off her high heels and ripped off her baggy sweater, leaving her in a tight, black tanktop. The glare from the lights made her look positively ghoulish, reflecting off of the nasty autopsy scar that stretched from her collar bones to her sternum. Her knuckles cracked.
"Is this, seriously, how we are going to play this game?" she said boredly, her dark eyes staring at the beasts. If that was what they wanted, she wasn't going to go without a fight. "You'd be better off getting out of my way. I have to find him, and neither you nor fate is going to stop me."
