... Except he's not quite feeling himself, not just physically but a little emotionally, too. Almost as if everything about him has fundamentally changed! Strange! How could that be!

In any case, when he runs over to help him out -- after a brief hesitation figuring this asshole probs knows exactly what he's doing, it's fine -- and reaches for his gun, his grip is too strong and he ends up snapping the metal in half.
