[Maybe it's the combination of Keith reacting to his touch, the way he can tell he's close to getting overly emotional, Keith's own words-- but Shiro's so clearly emotional, too, his expression going wobbly and vulnerable as he looks at him. He shivers at each kiss Keith presses to his skin, his own breathing soft and just a touch raspy, his voice graveled out when he speaks.]
Oh, Keith. [You already had to search the universe enough for him. And--]
[His voice is soft, watery, almost too quiet to hear.] I'm here.
[It's all he can manage to say for a moment, not able to put to words what else he wants to say-- that he'll never have to go searching for this feeling, that he'll never have to be without it, without him, wanting to promise that more than anything. That Keith is his entire universe and always has been.]
[Instead, he settles on what his voice can manage to say, as wobbly as it is, fragile and quiet.] Everything that's-- ever happened in my life was worth it, if it meant at the end I get to be with you.
