The carnival had not been as difficult to find as some others. It was a decent size, even larger than most he'd seen, which filled Maksim's greedy little heart with hope. He had plans for whatever kinds of money he could get. Buy himself a train ticket to somewhere hot. Find a woman who he could trust not to rob him blind. Buy liquor. Buy fancy clothing. Live the life.
But he had a three hundred pound weight around his ankles, an investment he needed to get his return on before he left. Leaving said investment in the truck in a covered cage, he trusted her to be quiet as he had his meeting. Besides, she slept most of the day anyway, lazy thing.
Walking up to the trailer, he rapped his knuckles against his, hand brushing back through his hair. He was dressed in a gaudy orange coat, the kind he used during the show, his beard patchy and his eyes shrewd. "Hello? I am here to do business!" he called through the door, knocking again. "I have a tiger. I can do a show."
