WHO Emily and Juniper! WHAT Getting some practice in and meeting a new face. WHEN Late Wednesday Night. WHERE Walden Pond area-ish. RATING PG. STATUS In-progress!
It was well past dark out when Emily quietly wandered away from the campsite. She was dressed casually in a pair of dark gray slacks and a white button down shirt that was about a size too big for her. With her hair pulled up into a messy bun that was hidden beneath a matching gray fedora and her feet covered in a pair of black boots, she could almost pass for a man trying to make his way home. Almost. Despite that, she couldn’t help but feel awkward, strange and completely out of place as she hurried down the dimly lit streets, cutting corners and sneaking through alleyways to shy away from the strange looks and odd stares that were thrown her way.
By the time she reached her destination, the moon was at its apex in the sky and was now her only source of light. Not that Emily minded exactly; quite the opposite in fact. She had always enjoyed the quiet, peaceful time of night when the earth was blanketed in darkness and most people were fast asleep in the comforts of their beds.
Carefully, she slipped out of her boots, a warm smile lighting up her features as she relished the feel of cool, moist soil beneath her bare feet. The few leaves that littered the ground below crunched out in protest as she gently walked over them, inching herself closer towards the water’s edge. Finding what she deemed to be a perfect enough spot, Emily began emptying out the contents of her pockets. Three stubby candles and a box of matches were now laid out before her as she lowered herself to the ground, her slender legs pulled in beneath her in a cross legged position.
Her ability to manipulate fire was still relatively unknown amongst the majority of people within the carnival so finding time to practice controlling that ability in private was absolutely paramount in Emily’s eyes. She intended to continue keeping her ability a secret for as long as she possibly could which was why she was out at night, alone in the dark and most likely trespassing on private property. Not that that had crossed her mind in the slightest, the trespassing that is.
