{ w h o } Howard and Marjan.
{ w h a t } Picking up chick(en)s.

{ w h e r e } A farm.
{ r a t i n g } PG.
{ s t a t u s } In progress.
Of course, Marjan was not happy that people were getting sick, per se, but there was some undeniable excitement on her part over getting to be the one to 'cure' them all, as though her lifetime of carny knowledge would finally be appreciated for what it really was - and that was brilliant. The newer ones tended to laugh in the face of the old superstitions, but Marjan knew better. They had done things this way for generations, and it had always turned out all right in the end - why would you mess with a winning formula?
Marjan had gathered a number of essential ingredients already, but something was still missing - fresh chickens. And the only place to get said fresh chickens was to drive out to a nearby farm to get them herself. She selected the one and only person that she felt would be as enthusiastic about this as she was to help her run this errand.
She and Howard stepped out of the carnival truck and into the farm muck. The sound of chickens cluck-cluck-clucking away drifted in from over by the henhouses.
"Do you hear that, Howard? It sounds like victory to me," Marjan declared. "Pick out as many as you like - I'm buying."
